  1. Based on that killer punch in the bottom left panel, the Scorpion should be sucking his Happy Meals through a straw for the next 6 months! 😉
  2. Cave paintings are a visual art. comics are words and pictures. It’s wonderful that folks have the time to make a study of Kirby’s margin notes, but I read the published comics without Jack’s notes so I can’t really comment as to whether Stan’s decision were more or less valid than Jacks proposals
  3. I dunno. To those who argue that Stan created nothing, I say that it was his dialogue that created the unique personalities of so many Marvel characters we came to empathize, sympathize, and identify with. Kirby didn’t do that...it was all Stan, and it was a major component of Marvel’s success over the stuffy, perfect DC heroes, ground out monthly, never showing discourse or growth. Yawn! I’m getting bored and sleepy even thinking about Silver Age DC’s
  4. Thanks! I’ve been hearing quite a bit about CGC’s hardened grading over the past 6-8 months, but it doesn’t fully explain why there hasn’t been a new 9.9 in years, especially considering the uptick in the number of copies submitted over the past year
  5. I think ASM #10 (Ditko) had an unpublished cover, along with #220 (Moon Knight), 262 (Photo Cover was published, but there is a line art version by Bob Layton that exists), a few Marvel Superhero Secret Wars issues also have unpublished covers, and last but not least, I believe X-Factor #1 has at least seven different unpublished covers!
  6. I used to think the same about Marvel Spotlight #5, about 10 year ago, and IM #55 after its initial run up in the early 90's. After the movie hype, the value of Marvel Spotlight was stagnant...until recently. We'll see what happens with IM #55 over the next few years. But, it is important to note that Marvel is pumping out Venom series after series, expanding the Venomverse & its influence on the Marvel Universe on Earth and elsewhere. Venom's influence is spreading, but only time will tell what happens to the value of ASM 300 after the next movie...or the third movie in the series, etc. Again, I am neutral in all discussions relating to the value of ASM 300. One the one hand, I have several dozen copies of the book. On the other hand, I still need to acquire a few dozen more. And in the midst of my quest to obtain 80 copies, I am also upgrading, shifting my focus to 9.6's, 9.8's, and Lord help me, I'd love a 9.9!
  7. Just a quick thanks to all who bid on the Simonson Thor piece. My friend is very appreciative, and the funds will definitely help his situation.
  8. Yes, arguably the most important character of the 80’s from the Big Two
  9. I think a lot of that is due to pressing, and not so much due to raw 9.8's in the wild
  10. Hi, all; I'm selling this large Simonson Thor illo on behalf of a friend. He needs the funds to help offset some veterinarian bills for his ailing dog and asked me to sell the art. I've consigned it to Heritage, and the auction is ending tonight. The image is 11.75 inches x 16.25 inches on 12x18 acid-free comicart board, illustrated in marker, and dated Oct 5, 2017, signed by Walt Here's the link to the auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/walt-simonson-thor-sketch-original-art-2017-/a/122105-11859.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Thanks for looking, and hopefully, thanks for bidding!

  12. 1st up is this wonderful 9.4 with white pages. CGC signature series, signed by McFarlane (Penciller), Romita Sr (Wolverine co-creator), David (writer), and Parker (letterer)

  14. I think its far less than that...closer to 300,000 copies. Average sales for ASM for that year was approximately 265,000 copies per issue so I can see retailers bumping their order by 10-15% for ASM 300.
  15. Too busy with work this past week to realize it was John Romita Sr's 91st birthday on Jan 24th, with best wishes for many more to come!
