  1. Was sold on Clink maybe 4 or 5 years ago to Gene for around $67K. It sold last summer (?) to the owner of Torpedo Comics for an undisclosed amount (rumours just south of $200K). Now it’s back on Clink with a reserve. Gene is on the boards and can clarify, if he wants.
  2. For those who say that Clink is the best place to sell this cover, I say no. all you need to do is look at the Heritage Archives to find the top 5 highest prices paid for a McSpidey cover at auction. All are higher than the best McFarlane result on Clink regarding the reserve price: if seller was asking $200K for it at his store, I don’t think he will be asking any less for it at auction. So, in order to get his $200K for it, the reserve price would have to be set at $222K just for the consignors to break even. if the buyer got it for $222K, don’t forget to add an average state tax if 7% to the invoice. Thus, we’re looking at a minimum purchase price of $237.5K + shipping. If my assumptions hold true, I don’t think this cover will sell because the reserve will be set too high!
  3. Agreed. The $1,625 for the raw ‘NM+’ is a significant risk to the owner, and after taxes and slabbing fees, I’d say they’re into the book for nearly $1.8K. Hopefully, it comes back a 9.8, otherwise, they’ve wasted their time as there’s several 9.6’s available below $1.7K on eBay. re: the glut of 9.8’s...checking Clink, HA, CC, etc., there are very few 9.8’s available so I’d say the glut rests firmly with eBay, and the cause for that is extremely exuberant BIN pricing. If these ‘sellers’ would lower their BINS to FMV, I’m certain we wouldn’t be seeing this many available 9.8’s
  4. Hi, all; I've decided to upgrade my collection of ASM 300's and came to the painful decision that I need to sell these signature series copies in order to raise funds for more purchases. Each book is cgc signature series certified with white pages, signed by McFarlane, Salicrup (editor), Parker (letterer), and Sharen (colorist, toughest signature to get). As an added bonus, the 8.5 copy has been signed twice by McFarlane...once on the cover and again on the 1st page. Time payments can be arranged (I am somewhat flexible on duration). shipping is $20 in North America Prices are as follows: 8.5 = $850 now $765 9.0 = $1,100 now $990 9.2 = $1,300 now $1170 Prefer payment via cheque or money order. Paypal OK under certain stipulations first or similar response trumps any private negotiations
  5. Hi, all: I've consigned several Romita Sr CGC SIGNATURE SERIES ASM books to Heritage. The auctions end Sunday, Oct 25th. All books are signed by Romita Sr, and some are also signed by others, including Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway. Romita's signature is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and will now cost you $100 per signature, if you can get it. Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway signatures are $30 each. All books are from my personal collection and NONE have been pressed! Here's a listing and links to all of the Sig Series books I've put on consignment: ASM 54 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-54-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1967-cgc-vf-80-off-white-pages/a/122043-17033.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 57 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-57-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1968-cgc-vf-80-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17035.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 74 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-74-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1969-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17041.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 77 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-77-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1969-cgc-vf-80-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17042.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 78 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-78-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1969-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17043.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 79 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-79-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1969-cgc-vf-80-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17044.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 80 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-80-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1970-cgc-vf-80-white-pages/a/122043-17045.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 87 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-87-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1970-cgc-vf-80-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17046.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 91 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-91-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1970-cgc-vf-80-white-pages/a/122043-17047.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 94 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-94-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1971-cgc-nm-92-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17048.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 97 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-97-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1971-cgc-fn-65-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17049.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 123 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-123-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1973-cgc-vf-85-white-pages/a/122043-17050.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 130 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-130-signature-series-john-romita-and-others-marvel-1974-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/122043-17051.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 135 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-135-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1974-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17052.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ASM 299 https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/the-amazing-spider-man-299-signature-series-todd-mcfarlane-and-others-marvel-1988-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/122043-17060.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ANNUAL 4 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-annual-4-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1967-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17066.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 ANNUAL 7 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/the-amazing-spider-man-annual-7-signature-series-john-romita-marvel-1970-cgc-nm-92-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122043-17067.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-SearchResults-120115&lotPosition=64|0
  6. Thanks for the additional info, Mike. So now there's 4 solid reasons why I'm not 'feeling' this cover.
  7. As a Spidey guy who likes Romita art, I should be all over this, but I’m finding it difficult to feel excited about this cover, because: 1. Um, it’s the Kangaroo. Ohhhh, ahhhh, lame-o. 2. Spidey’s back is facing the reader, a deterrent for me. 3. It’s just a normal looking guy wanting to jump on (over?) Spidey. No super villain costume, no death-ray or otherwise perilous contraptions to add to the frenzy and danger of the moment. Just...YAWN 😴
  8. Correct. Based on the copies I have on hand, in order to get a cgc 9.8, there should’t Be any spine stresses that break colour. to get a cgc 9.6, it looks as though up to two small stresses that break colour are acceptable. again, the above is what I see based upon my personal collection on hand.
  9. The jagged right side of the front cover is not too common, but it is known, and cgc does not deduct for it. In 9.6 and 9.8, I wouldn’t pay the same amount as a copy without the jagged right side.
  10. Yes, weapons, hardware, and paraphernalia. they also published a book of the dead, but I think most have since been resurrected 😉
  11. 5 new sales were recorded for asm 300 cgc 9.6 blue label, white pages yesterday on GPA: 1600 1725 1627 1500 1600 so it looks like ASM 300 continues its upwards price increase in this grade, albeit at a slower rate than the previous week, when it jumped up by $200 on average. the 9.4’s also saw strong prices this week: 1000 1700 i think a few upcoming auctions will show that 9.4’s are now averaging $1K per copy.
  12. Yes, I was in discussion with Fish to purchase the cover from him when Dinesh offered stoopid money and secured the cover. 😢
  13. Not specific to pressing. I have several raw ASM's from the early to mid-1970's in ultra high grade with similar 'bleeding'.
  14. The series was so popular that it spawned numerous similar series: Official Marvel Handbook of the ASM Universe, Marvel Teamup Universe, FF Universe, Conan Universe, etc.
  15. While perhaps not the best, the one that was most interesting for me was The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Back when PC's weren't readily available and you didn't have a lot of cash for back issues, this 12 issue treasure chest of character bio's, 1st appearances, team affiliations, etc. was a goldmine for understanding the Marvel Universe. Additionally, some of the industry's top artists along with future super-stars contributed character pinups to one or more issues. And last but not least, when you put all 12 covers together, they formed one large, interwoven image of all of the characters presented within the Handbook.
