  1. Valiantman, once again, you are not comparing apples to apples because you deducted the fees off the sale of the ASM 300s to arrive at your ROI, but you did not deduct any expenses (front or back end) when purchasing/selling the AMZN share.
  2. No shenanigans on my part. I assure you that my goal is true. 38 more copies to go and since I’m only collecting 9.6’s and 9.8’s going forward, it would cost me a bare minimum of $57K to achieve my goal if: 1. I focused on 9.6’s only 2. Average price of a 9.6 = $1.5K what can I say? Nostalgia can be expen$ive
  3. Lots of copies in various grades went on sale this week. Let’s see if the market can absorb them and maintain current prices?
  4. A 9.8 cgc blue label white pages just sold on HA for $4,920
  5. Sold at HA in 2015 for $5.5K...a STRONG result
  6. Bill, just a suggestion: while the panel has 100 years of OA collecting experience and I’ve enjoyed the chats thus far, I’d be very interested to see a panel consisting of newer collectors discussing what they collect and why? Where do they source and sell their OA, who are the up and coming artists in their opinion, etc. thanks! 👍🏻
  7. Paul Smith has had a very different style for some time now. I strongly prefer his previous style on X-Men.
  8. Meh. The direct vs Newsstand prices is a mixed bag, based on recent sales by grade
  9. I'll give it a shot. firstly, I'd like to address the 15% duty that you pay for importing books into the country by stating that you're not alone. In fact, far from it as most countries require full declaration of imported items for duty. 15% may seem steep, but its not the highest duty amount placed on imported goods, especially in comparison to some European countries. Secondly, ASM 300 has seen a sharp increase in value recently for several reasons: Venom movie, covid stimulus funds, market catch up (it plateaued for quite a while previous to this run up), and just a general collective awakening of the importance of this book. As prices continue to rise (you will see more strong results this week), more copies will become available. We've actually started seeing this on ebay and elsewhere. For example, look at how many copies are available currently vs two weeks ago and you'll see the difference in availability for yourself. Eventually, and I'm not sure when, the book will plateau for a while, and once people realize/are aware and comfortable with the new pricing 'norm', the book will rise again. Rinse, and repeat. We've already seen evidence of this on Hulk 181, which continues to reach new highs vs ASM 129 which is currently experiencing a plateau in its highest grades. Other factors may also come into play regarding demand for the book, such as what are Disney's plans for the character? I imagine demand would spike further once they make a TV/Streaming/Movie announcement? Ultimately, the decision comes down to your current financial decision...do you need the money now or can you ride this current upwards trend until it plateaus?
  10. Al’s inking made everyone’s art look better. my favourite artist!
  11. I wonder when was the last time cgc graded an ASM 300 a 9.9? ive seen some absolutely flawless raw copies come back as 9.8’s
  12. Congrats! That’s a great purchase
  13. True. The McSig Series 9.4’s have already cracked $1K
  14. I was eyeing that copy and thinking the exact same thing, but at $2.55K, its a pricey gamble. Another copy sold for $1.6K on Oct 8, which is another strong result Several strong sales of 9.4's this past week lead me to believe this book will see steady sales at $1K in the next few weeks.
  15. that's right. 34 copies in the pic, but approximately 8 more slabbed copies headed my way in the next few months.
  16. I thought you would have had far more copies. Still, that's a particularly high grade set of newsstands, based on the data you've shared.
  17. I think Nick Cardy continued to get better, even in his late 80’s. I’ve owned a few commissions he did when he was 88 or 89 and they were stunning. Dale Keown continues to get better on Hulk and other work, covers, etc. Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. The man gets better and better, and he can do no wrong.
  18. Hi, all: ive consigned my copy of ASM 210 to Heritage Auctions. The auction ends Sunday, Oct 11th. The current bid is only $360 and you can view the book here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/the-amazing-spider-man-210-marvel-1980-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/122041-13038.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  19. So, Valiantman, just out of curiosity, how many Asm 300 newsstands do you have?
