I honestly wouldn’t know where to begin responding to your incredibly ignorant statements. Just plain stupid. -

This is a very irresponsible opinion and misinformed opinion as we are only in the early stage of its potential to spread. -

2008 doesn’t seem so long ago, but it’s all one big blur and I don’t remember what I was buying or selling at that time. thank goodness for Heritage Archives! 😉 -
May Heritage Auction Really Shaping Up!

Seems as though Heritage received a flurry of last minute consignments just before the deadline date. as of this morning, 305 OA lots are listed with full title and descriptions, but there’s a lot more great OA in the miscellaneous section, too. unfortunately, I think I’ll be sitting this one out, watching along the sidelines. -

The Canadian dollar tanked against the $US back in Jan 21 2002, when it hit a modern day low of 61.79 cents US. the cross rate was $1US = $1.618 CAD. It would have cost around $1.65 CAD to purchase $1USD -

It’s a psychological threshold. $1 US now cost $1.48. Ugh! -

Agreed. Once we break under the 70 cent threshold, it will be much easier for a free fall to occur. -

If the $US dollar continues to strengthen against my beaver dollars, I may be forced to sit out this auction. $1USD = $1.44CAD. Ouch!!! -

Has the Corona virus affected any cons yet?
jjonahjameson11 replied to Quicksilver Signs's topic in Comics General
It depends which country you’re talking about. Italy’s mortality rate is higher than most and the lockdown hasn’t had the desired effect yet. meaning, this virus is highly contagious! -

Times are tough and will become tougher. in order to prevent further spread of Covid-19, The CN Tower is closed, all government run March Break programs are closed, public libraries are closed and/or will close today, worship at churches are cancelled, Toronto Zoo is closed, hockey Hall of Fame is closed, Royal Ontario Museum is closed, along with the Art Gallery of Ontario, classes at Ontario’s two largest universities are cancelled and will be conducted online only. Several other universities have also cancelled in-person classes, and many, may more cancellations too numerous to list here. oh yeah, and as a preventative measure, Toronto’s mayor is in self isolation for the next two weeks because he recently returned from a trip to the UK -

Unfortunately, there are and will always be people whose self-interest (Terry) outweigh the greater good. So be it. He had an opportunity to do the right thing, but chose to call us all ignorant of the facts, because he clearly knows better than the doctors, virus specialists, governments and so on. I think its only a matter of time before the State of California shuts down his convention anyhow. Way to go, Terry! -

Here in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), March break has been extended by an additional two weeks for all grades, the St Patrick’s Day parade is cancelled, the Superior court of Ontario has issued a statement that trails requiring juries are postponed, and so on. We’ll see how this evolves, but if the number of cases continues to spike significantly, we can expect the closure of more public facilities such as libraries, community centres, religious events, and possibly, movie theatres, malls, and who knows what else. -

Actually, here in Canada, the Council of Imams and the Muslim Medical Association of Canada have recommended that services be suspended indefinitely in order to do their part to reduce the spread of covid-19. i wish convention promoters would be as responsible and do the right thing by cancelling their conventions. those that haven’t yet cancelled are clearly sending the message that the almighty dollar trumps your health, and that of anyone else you may come in contact with. they do not have my support and they will not receive my business now or during subsequent events. -

I live in the GTA and I'm not setting foot anywhere near the convention. Last thing I want to happen is a similar situation to Italy, where the entire country is under lockdown. If the cost of avoiding a lockdown is cancelling some stupid comic convention to prevent more death and misery than necessary from occurring, then its a SMALL price to pay. -

The 4 weeks is just a starting point, as in let's see where we're at with further study and understanding of this virus, etc. I never implied that it would go away after 4 weeks and we'd be done with it. -
