  1. And last, but certainly not least, I am also looking for the following pages...
  2. Thanks, guys! Also very interested in the following pages, too. Please PM me and let me know what you have.
  3. Related to Far Flung Foom, no doubt 😉
  4. Frenz FF covers from this era have been commanding this price (and higher) for the last few years. the Paul Ryan stuff from the early 90’s can sometimes command prices in the $6K and up range. His Iron Man and GI Joe covers resonate with me as being in the $5K range, with the exception of an Iron Man cover with Fung Fang Foom, which sold for around $7K several years ago
  5. Agreed. He’s my 2nd favourite inker of all time.
  6. I’m always interested to read your posts because 99% of the time, I disagree with your opinion. Perhaps it’s a generational gap (I assume you’re a Boomer). in this instance, Paul Smith wasn’t just good, he was great, and Wiacek was the perfect inker for him. So what if his run on the title was short? It was a great body of work, much like Rogers/Austin on ‘Tec.
  7. $5K was HUGE money for OA is 2000. i recall outbidding Burkey and Moy in 2002 on eBay for two ASM covers published in 1981 and 1982, for the lofty sum of 2.5K each
  8. Well, yeah. Isn't that why most of us collect?
  9. Kind of an odd thing to say from someone who owned a McSpidey cover. I'm guessing now that your purchase was purely for investment
  10. 1. Paul Smith 2. Paul Smith 3. Paul Smith 4. Paul Smith 5. Paul Smith
  11. Pages from ASM 300 have always commanded a premium and they were among my earliest purchases when I became interested in collecting OA back in 2001. At one time, I had 4 pages from ASM 300, and then I made a terrible mistake...CAF came along, and I posted scans of the pages and before you knew it, I was fielding unsolicited offers. Ultimately, the offers became too ridiculous to pass up and I relented to two collectors who were trying to put the book together (not sure if each was unaware of the other at the time), but its very feasible that one or both went after this page (or a new player). Both have deep pockets and I think this page could have gone even higher if they were determined to make it theirs.
  12. I’ll take your word for it...haven’t read a Spidey comic since JMS destroyed it with all of the Spider-totem B.S. and the Gwen/Norman Osborn (ahem) romance.
  13. Hi, all: id like to purchase a nice Hulk/Wolverine fight page from this issue. I haven’t seen any pages being offered elsewhere so I thought I’d post this request here, where rabid art fans congregate 😉 i will pay a $5K ‘finders fee’ for info leading to the purchase of a page. not looking for pages from other Hulk issues. thanks for your time.
  14. Did MJ ever have short hair, as noted in John’s Illo to Jim?
  15. Well, we did get a glimpse of that for a few issues such as 57-59, although credits were a mixed bag (Romita breakdowns, Heck pencils, Esposito inks?). Based on these issues, even with Romita's assistance, I do not think Heck would have been a worthy successor to follow Ditko on the title. If I were Stan Lee, I would have kept Heck as far away from ASM as possible!
  16. Reading through all of the posts this far, it’s worth noting that folks who included Ross Andru on their list almost always felt the need to indicate they did so because he was the artist on the title at the time they collected/read ASM. Almost sounded apologetic, as though he doesn’t belong on their respective lists?
  17. Also interesting to note that the Thing has 3 fingers and a thumb on each hand, and three toes on each foot...exact same number of digits as the Hulk on this cover, anyway.
  18. Pre-dated Hulk #1? If it can be confirmed, that would certainly add significance to this piece, along with corresponding increase in value, right?
  19. Hi, Chris. I think it's an error in this instance. Looking back to the early Hulk covers, including the cover to Hulk 1, we see Kirby's Hulk with four fingers and a thumb for each hand.
  20. I've looked at this pinup maybe a dozen times because something felt 'off' to me and it was driving me nuts until I realized the Hulk only has one thumb and three fingers on each hand.
