  1. Great list, and very cool of you to share the pics you've archived. I used to own the second commission piece listed in your post. Vess' details were incredible.
  2. HI, all: I've got a few pages I've consigned to Heritage Auctions, ending tomorrow, Sunday Oct 27th: Mark Bagley Venom: First Host #5 Story Page 20, a very cool transformation page, and also an Absolute Carnage tie-in story. Here's the link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/mark-bagley-and-andrew-hennessy-venom-first-host-5-story-page-20-original-art-marvel-comics-2018-/a/121943-17008.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 John Romita Jr Avengers vs X-Men #1p15, with Scott Summers continuing his unrelenting training of Hope Summers, in the 'hope' that she will be prepared to fend off the 'Phoenix Force' from becoming one with her. Per HA's description: The Avengers and The X-Men stand over their fallen fellow team members as they battle in Utopia for custody of Hope Summers, who is beautifully rendered fleeing for her life in the bottom half splash panel. Captain America, Ironfist, Giant-Man, Warpath, Cyclops, Emma Frost, and a knocked-out Spider-Man make appearances. 3. Looking through this thread full of great commissions made me realize something I hadn’t thought of in years...Charles Vess is an excellent Spiderman artist! Although his body of work on spiderman is very limited: a handfull ASM & Web of Spidey covers he illustrated in the mid-80’s, the ASM 277 main story (“Cry of the Wendigo”), the Spidey and black cat lithos (1988), the Spirits of the Earth graphic novel, and the Spidey/hobgoblin poster, I think it’s fair to say that he’s among the top 5 Spidey artists! the commissions posted here are gorgeous, and if there are more, I’d love to see them posted here 👍🏻
  4. Ending tonight on Heritage. Thanks for looking and good luck to all bidders
  5. and here's a pic of the John Romita Jr. Avengers vs. X-Men #3 Story Page 10...
  6. Yes, it was a pleasure corresponding with Jeff about the concept, hair colour, etc. And I loved watching Jeff’s site when he live-streamed the pairings he was working on. i think I have the prelim I’ll for it somewhere, and I’ll post it here if I find it.
  7. Jeff Jones "Island Girl" took 7 years to obtain, but only because Jeff was going through her transformation. The painting measured 22x30. I no longer own this piece (nor the Sienk that I posted previously) as my focus shifted towards published pieces.
  8. Let's suppose you're an artist. And further, you're overdue on a commission and you've searched the entire house up and down for a piece of paper or artboard or, well, anything, really, to finish this commission and you turn up empty handed. No paper. No cardboard. No bristol. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Then, as you're in the kitchen, you get an idea. Perhaps you hadn't thought of it before because you never ran across a situation where you had absolutely no paper in the house. But then you think to yourself and say, hey, wax paper is a type of paper! Why don't I just use this? And if your name happens to be Bill Sienkiewicz, you create magic with it
  9. Howdy, folks; Due to the hack with HA's system, they've rescheduled the closing date of their Oct 20th auctions to this Thursday, Oct 24th. 10. First appearances happen often in an on-going series. It may not be the first appearance of the title character, but it can be the 1st appearance of another hero, a villain, an anti-hero, etc.
  11. Another pro for covers is that they often feature the 1st appearance of a character and/or team, again lending to the gap in value over splashes. Additionally, I feel that covers are able to capture the essence or general theme of the interiors in one dynamic image, and that image is what I most remember with a specific comic...its what drives the nostalgia - based collecting bug in me, and causes me to pay far more than I ever would for a splash page.

Thanks for looking
  16. Just took a look at the entirety of OA offerings for this auction and I can honestly say that it will be extremely difficult to remain disciplined, focused, and out of the poor house. This auction has all of the makings to inject major wallet damage!
  17. When I started this thread, I actually had five pages of OA from the 1980's for sale. I added BIN's to all of them and three were quickly triggered and sold so now the only two remaining pieces are the Buckler Spidey and the Broderick Batman. The auctions for both pages ends tonight so even if the BIN's aren't triggered, I really hope these wonderful pages find excellent homes. Thanks again for looking!
  18. Not disagreeing with your statement at all. Just saying there is a minimum valuation that must be meet before you even have that discussion with HA to put your piece in a Sig auction.
  19. Yeah, there is a minimum valuation threshold for OA entry into a Signature auction. Last time I spoke with Lon, I believe it was $3K per piece
  20. Last year, I spent like a drunken sailor on crack. i’d like To top that amount this year by picking up a McSpidey or McASM cover. Any help leading to the purchase of an aforementioned cover will be handsomely rewarded.
  21. Here's the pics...Live bidding starts in less than two hours. Good luck to all bidders,
  22. My pleasure. By the way, he mentioned that he has a few more covers for sale now.
  23. Interesting... ASM 8 also had a short Spidey/FF back up story with Kirby pencils and Ditko inks...🤔
  24. Hi, all; just a quick reminder the auction for these wonderful pages ends tonight, and the current bids are still well below FMV so here’s a great chance for you to get a good deal, and perhaps a well-deserved gift for yourself that won’t break your wallet 👍🏻
