  1. Took a quick look on Clink to confirm this is a No Reserve auction. I’ve no idea where this will end up once the dust has settled, but if it’s anywhere above $30K, I’d much rather have a BWS Weapon X cover from MCP
  2. And here's the ASM 59 Romita Sig Series, 1st Mary Jane cover appearance! http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dromita%2Bsig%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1300085&id=1300085&itemType=0

  13. Hi, all: I have a handful of John Romita Sr Signature Series ASM's (Sliver and Bronze) on consignment in Comiclink's March Focused auction. The auctions are ending in just a few hours Please note that these books come from my personal collection, stored in my smoke-free home, and I have owned them for at least 30 years. These books have NEVER been pressed so there is a good opportunity to bump an 8.0 to an 8.5 or possibly higher. Here's the link: http://comiclink.com/Auctions/search.asp?FocusedOnly=1&where=auctions&title=romita+sig&GO=GO&ItemType=CB Good luck to all bidders!

  15. Kind of...1st, it was the hole in the ozone layer that was gonna kill us all. And when that didn't happen, Global Warming was all the rage. What Global Warming? It was another below average temperature winter here in Toronto. So now that Global Warming hasn't killed us, its Climate Change that will do us all in. LOL
  16. HI, All: I've recently consigned several high grade Gold Key Scooby Doo comics for sale at Comic Link's March Focused auction. The auction ends March 28th. Here's a link to the books. Good luck to all bidders http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/search.asp?PreviewCode=2019mar&where=auctions&title=scooby+doo&GO=GO&ItemType=CB
  17. 1. Williamson 2. Keown 3. Miller 4. McFarlane honourable mentions: 5. Romita Sr 6. Ditko 7. Eisner 8. Rogers (Marshall, not Boody) 9. Simonson 10. Garcia Lopez
  18. I like John’s artwork, and I’m not dumping on him, but in addition to Ditko or Kirby, John was not as influential as Byrne or McFarlane or Eisner or Miller, etc. John was a good artist, solid storyteller, good pacing, but not not great. That’s my opinion... others will vary.
  19. Difficult for me to say. I started collecting comics in '82 and the #1 artists that my friends and I followed were Byrne, Romita Jr, MIller, Sienkiewicz, Golden, and to a lesser extent, Kirby, Ditko, Wrightson, Adams. Big John Buscema didn't even crack our top 10. But tastes change and as we matured we came to appreciate other artists. I liked Bucema's work, but he has never been in my Top 5.
  20. Prior to the recent bump, the price of Hulk 181 was fairly stagnant for a few years, and I even recall a lively debate about whether Cerebus #1 should truly be as valuable as Hulk 181 in high grade. Fast forward to present, and things have changed. However, one thing that seems to be gaining momentum is the increased focus on collecting only key books, at the expense of completists trying to finish a run. So, by not having to spend a gaggle of dollars trying to complete Hulk 1-6, 102 - present, the collector who goes after key books has more money saved/available to spend on Hulk 181, if s/he chooses.
  21. Bernie Wrightson Master of the Macabre 5 issue mini-series published in 1983 by Pacific Comics, contains reprints of many of his best works from the Warren magazines, plus additional content from Web of Horror, Badtime Stories, etc. Very affordable. List of contents by issue can be found here: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=261541 Good luck!
