  1. The lowest graded comic in my CGC collection of +/-500 books...but super glad to have this puppy.
  2. For the past few days, I've been debating to myself the pros and cons of buying these (2) books in a "package deal" for my personal collection. Even though the price of both books have dropped significantly since the beginning of 2022, this "package deal" still cost 5 figures (not cheap). In the end, I decided to break open my piggy bank and told myself that the MCU has BIG...BIG...plans for the FF, X-Men and Wolverine. Major "Key" books such as Giant Size X-Men #1 and Hulk #180 will always be in demand by peeps in the comic community.
  3. Yeah...I'm also sitting on a few copies of FF #28 waiting for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to enter the MCU.
  4. Gang... I was fortunate to recently locate another high grade copy of Flintstones #16 (1st App. of Bamm Bamm ; January 1964). However, this puppy was raw / uncertified when I found it on Ebay. Well, it just came back from CGC as a 9.4 (OW/W Pages). I'm now the happy camper of (2) copies of this bad boy.
  5. (2) recent acquisitions that I made the past few weeks for my personal collection. The Jetsons #1 by Charlton Comics (November 1970) is the ONLY 9.8 copy on the CGC census (Census = 31 Copies ; 9.8 Highest). I couldn't resist the opportunity to own the single highest graded copy. Furthermore, I was relieved / happy to see that I'm not the only one who is focused on procuring these "cartoon books" as a Jetsons #1 by Gold Key (January 1963) in CGC 5.5 just sold the other day on a Heritage auction for a record high $900.
  6. I'm still hoping that Thundra will one day appear in the MCU...
  7. Fortunately, I still have my copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. Funny, as the price of this book continues to escalate more and more, my desire to cash out becomes less and less. :-)
  8. Maybe it's just me, but after paying / buying / accepting the escalating prices for Silver and Bronze Age CGC "Key" Marvel books on Ebay (and elsewhere), alternative comics such as this (Flintstones #16 in CGC 9.6) for $700 seems like an INCREDIBLE BARGAIN. 1st Appearance of a Major Flintstone Character (Bamm-Bamm) CGC 9.6 is the Highest Grade for this Item (Probably all 9.4 and 9.6 on Census of this book are File Copies). A CGC Census Population of just 10. That's right...just 10 books. "Key" Silver Age Gold Key Comic from January 1964 which makes it nearly 60 years old. Like Scooby Doo and other "kiddies" comics, these early Flintstone books from the 1960's were read, enjoyed and abused. Heck, I would love to get myself the matching high grade companion to the 1st appearance of Bamm-Bamm. However, I don't think this will ever happen. There are only (5) graded copies of Flintstones #11 (1st appearance of Pebbles) on the CGC census. Furthermore, there is only (1) high grade example in CGC 9.4. The next highest grade of Flintstones #11 drops down many steps to CGC 7.0.
  9. My small cache of graded Thor #337. I know there are many out there with much larger hoards of this issue. Just waiting for Beta Ray Bill to make his entrance into the MCU.
  10. I promise. My last post on Wonder Woman #204... You stated, "Say WW204 now commands $2000USD or $2500 in CGC 9.8..." I understand that you're not a fan of this book (that's cool), but your current assessment (along with GPA and GoCollect) of it's value in CGC 9.8 is way...way...off base by a few hundred percentage points. I've received a half dozen private offers in the past +/-2 years ranging from a low of $3K to a high of $12.5K (Yes!!! I said $12.5K!!!) just a few weeks ago for my WW #204. This price appreciation (speculation) has occurred without confirmation yet by DC of Nubia in the upcoming WW #3 movie. Question...Now, why would someone offer me $12.5K for an item that is supposedly valued considerably less??? Could it be that the "smart money" knows that WW #3 movie related news about Nubia is coming soon? Could it be that there are only (5) copies of WW #204 in CGC 9.8 according to the census and that the "smart money" wants to move in before the herd? Could it be that the "smart money" is also swinging for the fence and understands the market fundamentals of supply vs demand?. IMHO, I think it's because the "true value" of Wonder Woman #204 in CGC 9.8 is just starting it's vertical trajectory and the price this book will eventually command in a few years from now will shock most comic investors.
  11. Many of your points are valid with regards to speculating in Marvel (MCU) vs DC (DCEU) books. Heck, I'll be the first to acknowledge that I'm a "DC Hater". Now, even though I'm a "DC Hater", I passed Economics 101 in college many years ago and with only (5) copies of this book in CGC 9.8...the economics of supply vs demand are heavily skewed in my favor. As for my risk, I procured this puppy in 2017 (about a month or so before the release of WW 1 movie) for $500. At $500 for a WW #204 in CGC 9.8...I think it's fair to say that my risk is almost non-existence on this book. In summary, I'm swinging for the fence on this bad boy. :-)
  12. Okay, I admit I have a vested interest in this speculation. From the DC comics that will shine the brightest / be a potential multi-bagger in the coming 2 to 3 years - Wonder Woman #204 (1st Appearance of Nubia) is high on my watch list. Why...Because there's a very strong possibility that the DCEU has BIG PLANS for Nubia and that she'll be featured prominently in the upcoming Wonder Woman #3 movie. For you CGC collectors, the census shows there are currently only (5) copies of WW #204 in CGC 9.8 Universal Blue out of a population of 247 graded copies. That means just 2% of the CGC population of WW #204 are in 9.8 condition. Which equates to a dramatic imbalance of low supply vs high demand for this puppy in the CGC 9.8 grade. Following the path of other very scarce CGC 9.8 Bronze Age books (Marvel Spotlight #5, Heroes for Hire #1, Strange Tales #169, etc) this issue has what I hope / believe to be a bright future once the news is official about Nubia joining the DCEU.
  13. In a few years from now, the Secret Wars saga will / should become the highest grossing film for the MCU. Similar to the storytelling in the comics, I'm betting the Molecule Man will be a major player in this battle we all want to see.
  14. My two cents...Ive also been using Goo Gone for years on the CGC slabs and have always been happy with the excellent results
  15. IMPERIUS REX!!! My small stash of CGC graded Sub-Mariner books.
  16. I think I got you beat. I had 25 "Modern" tier comics (not fast track) delivered by USPS to CGC on September 1st. It was acknowledged as "Received" on my CGC Submission Tracking page on September 29th. The status then changes to "Shipped" on September 30th (Yes...1 day later!!!). The books are currently on their way back to me. Now...That's what I call lightning fast customer turnaround service!!! The icing on the cake is that that 21 out of 25 of my books (mosting mid 70's to 80's stuff) received either a 9.8 (11 books) or 9.6 (10 books). If only all of my submittals to CGC was like this... :-)
  17. For myself, I was monitoring VERY CLOSELY the AF #15 (CGC 4.5 ; OW/W Pages) on Comiclink that just sold for $74K. The reason I think is obvious by the attached photo of the AF #15 that I currently own. Both the Comiclink and my AF #15 are in CGC 4.5 condition...both have OW/W pages...both are aesthetically very similar in appearance...and most importantly both have NO Marvel Chipping (the Comiclink AF #15 did have some very minor pre-chipping). Before the auction started on Comiclink for this AF #15, I told myself... - A hammer price under $50K = Very Disappointed - A hammer price between $50K to $60K = Ho Hum - A hammer price between $60K to 70K= Not Bad - A hammer price between $70K to 80K= Yeah Baby - A hammer price between $80K to $90K= To the Moon - A hammer price over $90K = I didn't think this would happen. AF #15 in CGC 4.5 still needs a little more simmering. In summary, I think if you own an AF#15 (any AF #15) you should be happy with the strength of the comic market for this puppy.
  18. We all know that the MCU is going cosmic. Any chance we'll see Killraven???
  19. Just happy that I never sold my Fantastic Four #1 during the depressing Fox years.
