  1. That is really neat stuff. I wonder where they were stored all those years. I would think at some courthouse records room.
  2. Yeah that is a toughie. I don't ever recall seeing that one for sale. Real cool cover.
  3. It's Detective 48. It came out before Bat 4. That is a fact. And you know what they say , "whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts". I just hope that "things that are different are not the same" guy doesn't show up here.
  4. Two kind of hard to find books in respectable condition from last nights Heritage auction.
  5. I think WM 12 is probably the darkest cover of all. Unsettling. Sad actually. Reminds me of this dark, unsettling and sad scene from Bates Motel. Seriously though this is disturbing.
  6. Yeah Greta had some eyes on her. Yep the paper is pretty thick. I've seen old newspapers like Civil War era and older and you're right the paper they used back then really would hold up well. These are the few other Hollywood mags I aspire to finding and grabbing if I ever see them for a fair price and in at least OK shape. Corrine Griffith, Colleen Moore, Louise Brooks, Dorothy Mackaill because she looks so sad, and a Clara Bow if I ever see one with a cover of her I like.
  7. One unusual thing at least for me this year was a Photoplay Magazine from 1929 I got cheap (around 30 bucks) on e bay. I was happily surprised by the condition, pages are pure white. There are a few of these Hollywood type mags from the 20's I''d like to find.
  8. C'mon everyone don't be shy. T'is the season to be greedy.....I'm mean Jolly ,Jolly. Me, I'd like to get myself a Detective Comics #8 but I think Santa is all out at the moment. He won't answer my letters so I'm taking that as a no. I got myself this instead. A reprint cover to be hung by the fire.
  9. Thanks Mr. C. Most of the books I'd like to add to my collection at this point have gotten really costly. So Slight to Moderate it must be for many of them. I'll still go for a Blue first but if a nice Purple comes around I'll take what I can get just to have a copy.
  10. Couple of acquisitions I'm happy I got this year. Goals - just chip away at my wan't list, mainly Lou Fine and L.B. stuff.
  11. Hey there mister........B. Do you know if he still adds to it or upgrades or is the collection pretty much exactly where it needs to be? In other words is he still collecting? I'd love to see that collection.
  12. Hey there. Pretty sure someone here created this. Not sure when it was last updated. Fantucchio's in there and that was 2016/7 I believe. https://itsalljustcomics.com/existence-and-grades-of-silver-age-key-books-from-the-major-pedigree-collections/
  13. Oh no. My feelings first go to him, his family and friends. Honestly though that was one heck of a website, I used the cover gallery as reference for covers from certain artists.
  14. I put most of my books in these at this point. I figure why not use the ones with the best protection, assuming all this is true. Especially the creep resistance part. There are a lot of creeps in my neighborhood. Advantages of Mylar® Type D Compared to Commonly Used Plastics: Resistance to diffusion of gases like oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Sulfur Dioxide, etc. is 350 times greater than polyethylene. Permanence. There is no noticeable change in storage-100 years when compared to 2 to 5 years for others. 15. And these are thinner but are sealable. They never ripped on my stuff. https://www.ebay.com/itm/322201572443
  16. E.Gerber legal size Mylite 2's are perfect. https://www.egerber.com/catalog_mylites2.htm
  17. Hey there fellas. I've heard tell of this here on the board a few times. And something about a pallet of Contact 12's once but I'm pretty sure that was a joke. Just curious, if you know, but do they bid on all kinds of books or just really high end costly type books? I mean I guess any company has the right to try to obtain anything they wan't from anywhere except from their own auctions of course. That would be like a Pete Rose type issue I would think.
  18. Impressive yes, surprising no. I didn't give it much thought until now but in my subconscious I guess I figured it would go for at least a grand. It looks ok.
