  1. Price lowered to 1,250. I can go a little lower depending on chosen payment method. Thanks for looking Closed for now. You all know where to find me .
  2. Did a little looking. I'm pretty sure that's the 1st person being thrown type cover in comics. Now that I think of it I guess they are all spawns of Action #1.
  3. There it is, that's the one I was waiting for. Not your's particularly but I'm glad it was. Pretty sure it's the first woman being thrown cover.
  4. Regarding that old debate over Tec 40, in my opinion it isn't technically a Joker cover. It was originally drawn as the Joker that's obvious but it was altered to be Clayface, therefore it is Clayface. The only kind of close example I can think of would be X-Men 33 1967. I'm only writing this because I've recently learned that things that are different are not the same.
  5. Hey Mrs. S! How ya been? I used to think that was Lois also but I'm pretty sure it's not her. I had to look it up but I think it's that little vixen Bea Carroll from Action 1 and Superman 1. She's not actually in AC 23 or 24.
  6. I know the CGC number is hard to read on these 1st generation holders so here it is.

Shipping - 10.00 US, 20.00 Canada Alright, Shield-Wizard issue 7 CGC 5.0 Cream/Off White. 18 Blue Labels, 2 Purples on census. This is at least to my eyes no doubt a Jack Kirby cover. Kind of interesting that Jack Kirby, co-creator of Captain America, would do just one cover for MLJ and he changes The Shields costume which became a permanent change. Wonder what the story behind that is. Holder is in great shape, no need for a re-holder. Obviously this was well taken care of. 1,600.00 , 1,250.00
  8. What about Number 9? Number 9? Number 9? Yep, it was a battle for the White Pages. Not that anyone's asking but in my opinion it's not worth it. Little too much faith in the graders. I've submitted enough books in the past to know there is a fine line between OW/White and White. Fine line isn't exactly the best phrase for it. Sure some books are clearly White and some OW/White could be given White status and nobody would Bat an eye, and vice versa. It was a nice looking copy for the grade no doubt.
  9. That's really interesting stuff . And those two books are sweet! Josephine Dunn and Carol Lombard, nice. I looked at yoyr flicker page, beautufil stuff. So Zoe Mozart was an artist and a model? That one pic of her painting Jane Russell for the movie poster is really neat.
  10. Hey everyone, I couldn't find anything on the board about old Hollywood type magazines. If this is the wrong section to post I guess it could be moved where it belongs. So I've been looking at these old movie mags and really liking them. Mainly silent era issues. I'm kind of a silent screen fan so maybe that's why I think they are neat. Usually the covers portray one of the silent screen beauties that were popular at the time or sometimes a man. Just wondering if anyone here collects them or likes them. Here a few examples that are not mine. I have none.
  11. Real nice Killers, and the Popular Teens 10 is Killer too. 7.0 is up there.
  12. Hey everyone, I know this is a old topic but for whatever it's worth there is no Tom Reilly on the memorial plaque in Piedmont California. 50 soldiers from there died in WWII according the plaque outside their Veterans building. I would think they would have noted every one.
  13. Hey! Did you know that was my book? I think you did. If I knew it was going to sell at the price It did I'da sold it here for 1,500......... No Paypal.
  14. I thought about 6 to 7,000. To me the book is overpriced. Why it sells for more than #39 I do not know. Joker cover or not Tec 39 is a much prettier book.
  15. Yeah I guess he cools off around Halloween are warms up around Valentines Day. Oh what a world.
  16. I hope you still got what you wanted, if so do tell. I sold 5 books there last night. I was satisfied with all the prices I got other than this travesty of justice. Darn 4.0 went for 3,600 in February and a 3.5 for 2,040 in August. My 3.5 looked way better than the last 3.5 and even better than the 4.0. What happened? Anyone? I thought Matt Baker was HOT!
  17. I'm so glad this came up. So the guy at Collingswood did have comics? I remember the guys space and if I remember correctly it was pretty big and just packed with magazines. Lot's of boxes. Once in a while I think about it and wonder if there was a Golden Age Goldmine in there back then, but this was about 84 to around 91 when I would go there. I would think if he had GA stuff hidden somwhere in there it would have been harvested by then. I don't know but he seemed to have an endless supply of inventory.
  18. I didn't know it burned in 1977. I went there a few times in the 1980's. Collingswood I liked. It was about a 40 minute ride North of where I grew up. I remember that space with all the magazines, it was quite large. I never found any comics there that I can remember but I still think sometimes that I wish I could go back in time and search through all those magazines. There was another similar place a little South of it called Peddlers Village ( a few circles down). Used to buy baseball cards there off a guy name Fred but I don't remember any comics there.
  19. Hey Jimbo, I don't blame you of course about brittleness but at least it's a naturally occurring consequence that can happen to old paper. I kind of think people are a little too harsh on cgc graded books with slightly brittle pages. We see books sometimes that look great for the grade but have SB pages and boy that puts a hurting on the final hammer. And to try to sell one here on the board, forgetaboutit. I avoid them also but mostly because I know how much it will affect the value and appreciation and can be a pain in the neck to sell. This is off topic but I'll ask everyone anyway because we're all friends ( I think ). Obviously White, Off White, Cream, and the elusive Tans and Pinks are page color, or at least that's what I've always thought.. But when you get into Slighltly Brittle and Brittle does the cgc criteria at that point change from page color to page texture? Or maybe they are all regarding page texture.
  20. Yes, yes it would. I would put her in the car, drive her to her parents Dirty Dancing recreation, and put her in the corner. Then go home and put the book for sale right here on the board with full disclosure of course. It's just me personally, I could not own a trimmed book no matter who did the trimming or what book it is. It's just something I feel should never be done to a comic.
  21. Good question. I would still love it as if it were my own child........then put it up for adoption immediately. Afterthought- I notice that most "restored: graded books that are trimmed do sell for less than ones in similar grade which are not trimmed. That is a fact. But many times I notice not much less. I think with most books for most people who can only afford or be willing to spend the money on are restored copies, waiting for a non trimmed restored example usually wouldn't cost much more.
