  1. Lawyer- :Isn't it true that you were aware that the comic had color touch but did not disclose this to the buyer?". Defendant- "No". Judge- "Case dismissed".
  2. Ok I gave it 9 hours thinking someone will answer this and I'll figure out what the heck it means. So uh yeah, there's that.
  3. Yep. Past 12 hours things are starting happen. One bump bids like people dipping their toes in the water to check the temperature. Oh there will be bidding wars, let's not doubt that. Gonna be a fun auction for the spectators, just like Kin-Tucky Derby Day. Personally I'm rooting for the Showcase 4 to top 1,000,000.00
  4. I dunno, ComicConnect has a Puget Sound Collection coming up in their next big one. https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1025138 But yeah I've seen a lot of these "collections" but many times can't find anything out about what they heck they are.
  5. Well I don't know anything about Dr Phibes but I would love to see what the great Vincent Price and Agent 99 had to say to him. By the way she is 90 years old. Price and Feldon are both really smart people and probably made some great point/counterpoints.
  6. Good post good points. Won't address them all but I will say fame and attention result in money. It doesn't matter his motive I suppose but I've seen enough of these kind of people in my life to conclude with near certainty that he was "only in it for the money". To me more likely than that he cared so much for American children that he went to the extremes he did. I agree that putting a label on comics that says "Not intended for children", "Contains Adult Material" or similar would have been much better than what they eventually did, but even that I'm kind of against. They were going to start putting labels on everything anyway so might as well have put them on comics in the mid 50's rather than just water down the whole medium.
  7. I think he did all this for notoriety and self promotion which leads to money. It was all about money to him. Just like Al Gore's wife Tipper and that whole PMRC nonsense in the 1980's. Publicity and self promotion in the guise of "We're doing this to help you because we care". "For your children". It's an old playbook that they still use today and probably always will , because it works. In wikipedia - Wertham made two memorable appearances on the Mike Douglas Show where he ended up debating his theories with the co-hosts, Barbara Feldon (April 10, 1967) and Vincent Price (June 19, 1967). Excerpts were shown at the 2003 Comic-Con International: San Diego. I'd love to see those.
  8. That's the only "good" comic according to him? A book with the word Dong written right on the cover?
  9. That is really neat stuff. I wonder where they were stored all those years. I would think at some courthouse records room.
  10. Yeah that is a toughie. I don't ever recall seeing that one for sale. Real cool cover.
  11. It's Detective 48. It came out before Bat 4. That is a fact. And you know what they say , "whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts". I just hope that "things that are different are not the same" guy doesn't show up here.
  12. Two kind of hard to find books in respectable condition from last nights Heritage auction.
  13. I think WM 12 is probably the darkest cover of all. Unsettling. Sad actually. Reminds me of this dark, unsettling and sad scene from Bates Motel. Seriously though this is disturbing.
  14. Yeah Greta had some eyes on her. Yep the paper is pretty thick. I've seen old newspapers like Civil War era and older and you're right the paper they used back then really would hold up well. These are the few other Hollywood mags I aspire to finding and grabbing if I ever see them for a fair price and in at least OK shape. Corrine Griffith, Colleen Moore, Louise Brooks, Dorothy Mackaill because she looks so sad, and a Clara Bow if I ever see one with a cover of her I like.
  15. One unusual thing at least for me this year was a Photoplay Magazine from 1929 I got cheap (around 30 bucks) on e bay. I was happily surprised by the condition, pages are pure white. There are a few of these Hollywood type mags from the 20's I''d like to find.
  16. C'mon everyone don't be shy. T'is the season to be greedy.....I'm mean Jolly ,Jolly. Me, I'd like to get myself a Detective Comics #8 but I think Santa is all out at the moment. He won't answer my letters so I'm taking that as a no. I got myself this instead. A reprint cover to be hung by the fire.
  17. Thanks Mr. C. Most of the books I'd like to add to my collection at this point have gotten really costly. So Slight to Moderate it must be for many of them. I'll still go for a Blue first but if a nice Purple comes around I'll take what I can get just to have a copy.
  18. Couple of acquisitions I'm happy I got this year. Goals - just chip away at my wan't list, mainly Lou Fine and L.B. stuff.
  19. Hey there mister........B. Do you know if he still adds to it or upgrades or is the collection pretty much exactly where it needs to be? In other words is he still collecting? I'd love to see that collection.
  20. Hey there. Pretty sure someone here created this. Not sure when it was last updated. Fantucchio's in there and that was 2016/7 I believe. https://itsalljustcomics.com/existence-and-grades-of-silver-age-key-books-from-the-major-pedigree-collections/
