  1. Ok looks like there is some free shipping for ordering over certain amounts as well as some breakpoints for certain quantities BCW - Orders over $80 get free shipping. Ordering 10 or more packs of the 2mil 9x14" bags are $1.20 cheaper. You can order 8 packs (800 bags) at $10.03/pack for $80.24 and get free shipping. ~ 10 cents/bag but if you order 2 more packs you get the breakpoint and pay $88.30 with free shipping for 1000 bags gets you to 9 cents/bag which kinda makes it buy 9 get 1 free. Bags Unlimited - Orders over $40 get free shipping. Order the 200 pack for a breakpoint discount which comes to $48.15 with free shipping makes it ~ 24 cents/bag. There's no other lower quantity combination that will net you a lower overall purchase price. Clear Bags - there is no free shipping for ordering over a certain quantity but their breakpoint discounts for quantity that pretty much cover the shipping. you must order 10 packs at $10.38/pack for a total of $103.80 + $8.65 shipping = $112.45 bringing it to ~ 11 cents/bag EGerber - no free shipping but there is free pickup. The largest breakpoint is 1000 bags for $310 which comes to ~ 31 cents/bag. I am biased towards the Mylar but also the Bags Unlimited as I believe those are a thicker and fit more snuggly on the CGC slabs as they are 8 5/8" wide vs the Mylite2 9" wide which leave a bit of excess on the edge I don't care for. The Bags Unlimited bags also come with a resealable tape on the flap. The EGerber Mylite2's do not. Not certain how clear Bags Unlimited are vs EGerber Mylites2 but the EGerber is super shiny clear.. That said, from a strictly cost standpoint, if you want quantity over durability/clarity go with the BCW for 800 or 1000 quantity if you have that many CGC slabs to cover or the Clear Bags at 7 cents/bag if you need 12,000 bags! If you want quality over cost, it seems the Bags Unlimited or the EGerber mylite2s are the better option if you can live with the excess baggyness of the Mylite2s and live near Baltimore. I think I'm going to order some Bags Unlimited and try them out and report back if I prefer them to EGerber. Does Hotflips resell rebranded EGerber Mylite2s or do they make their own?
  2. Newshane is right. ANSWER: the mylar does NOT impose a scratch on a cgc case any more than the other bags would mainly because it isn't the bag that would do the scratching (note: the case does scuff up the mylar bag a bit around the edges but at least the bag doesn't tear like the poly bags). However, scuffing of the case does occur on the edges but it is actually caused by the raised case ridge separators at the tops and bottoms of the back of each slab. Those raised ridges/separators are the stackable pieces that allow the cases to lay securely on top of each other. However, if you're constantly removing and inserting these slabs into a tightly packed CGC box, those raise ridges will scrape along the thick right and left front edges of the CGC edges and etch a rough streak along those edges. It doesn't affect the visibility of the comic and is only noticeable if you run your finger along the smooth right and left edges until you feel the rough streak. I suspect the mylar actually reduces/blunts the degree of scuffing on the edges vs the polybags that ultimately tear leading to more severe direct case on case scuffing. Lesson is, don't overstuff your CGC box and mylars are still the best but PRICEY!!!
  3. I guess that would depend on the hardness of mylar vs cgc slab. I have some cgc cases I could test that out on. Though typically the only areas where that contact would occur is on the outer sides and stackable front and back edges of the slab. Scratches to those areas may not be all that noticeable.
  4. Why are these so pricey to ship? I usually just pick up all my EGerber supplies at their factory every other year when I go to Baltimore Comic Con. But the others are no where near me. Do they offer free shipping for ordering over a certain amount? Shipping prices to VA: EGerber 914M2 2mil Mylar 9"x14 1/4" 50ct = $21.75 (minimum shipping order must be $100 so must be local pickup. Otherwise, if trying to qualify for shipping least amount to order would be 200 ct + 2x 50 ct (300ct) $113.50 + $15 shipping = $128.50 ~ 43 cents/bag BCW 2mil Polypropalene (Resealable) 9"x14" 100 ct = $12.25 + $10.89 shipping = $23.14 ~ 23 cents/bag Bags Unlimited 3mil Polyethylene (Resealable) 8 5/8" x 13 3/16" 25 ct = $13.56 + $5.50 shipping = $19.06 ~ 76 cents/bag Clear Bags 1.6mil biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) (Resealable) B814 8 15/16" x 9 1/4" 100 ct = $14.38 + $8.39 Economy Shipping = $22.77 ~ 23 cents/bag At these prices, the BCW and Clear bags are the least expensive but not sure about their durability. Sliding a bagged CGC slab into a full CGC box causes rips in the poly bags.
  5. No not all issues under 9.8 receive graders notes. Many (most?) do but I have encountered quite a few that don't and it's frustrating when you are contemplating a large purchase without the book in hand. Many 9.8's do not have graders notes either which may seem obvious but on an otherwise PERFECT looking book (sharp corners, no bindery defects, no spine defects, no color abrasions or ink rubs or any non-color break bends, perfect wrap and centering, perfect alignment of staples, no gripper tears, indents, overcover hangs, no staples stress/tears, no stains, etc) what keeps it from being a 9.9 or 10? Was there an interior defect? Despite the writing of graders notes being an inconsistent artifact of the grading process you would think CGC would want to make the extra $ at $5-$15 per copy almost as a royalty payment every time the book went up for auction. In a typical CLink or Heritage Auction, can you imagine how much revenue they generate for 9.4s and 9.6s of SA/BA/CA books?
  6. cost of business? Can you impose a restock fee in the amount equal to the fees paypal keeps or is that not allowed/enforceable?
  7. Saw her rockin' the red blazer at the submission queue at Baltimore Comicon's CGC booth. She was taking names and kicking butt late into the day. Or at the very least taking names for submissions but she seems like a total badass under that sweet and charming persona. Totally forgot about her accident but happy to see her doing so well. You rock, Brittany and thanks for always making the CGC submission process a smooth and enjoyable one.
  8. Just curious but what shows do you normally attend for less than that tat are not local? I'm pretty surprised at this compared to how much so many other equally big shows cost. For admission pricing, BCC is hard to beat. Now I hear you about the parking and the hotels but at any other con you don't live near you're already spending over $100 on travel and lodging but that comes with every distant show. If you're local, the public transportation options are pretty cheap and save you on parking. However, for cheap parking there are a few lots further away that go for $8-10/day all day if you're willing to walk a little further or there's also street parking that you may have to renew every 2-4 hours which is easy with the parking mobile app. If you book a hotel further out, you can get a great deal and not have to park but can take public transport or a cheap uber ride in. Going all 3 days is not as worth it for me as it used to be but if the con keeps getting bigger I may have to. Typically I go on Fridays and Sundays which are the 2 cheapest days at $15/day and see everything I want to see. Parking cost me $11/day. I just drove in each day so no hotel cost for me but I live within 200 miles of the show. Frankly if I'm spending less than $200 on attending a con I'm already ahead. Here's what I usually pay for other shows: SDCC cost me $213/day to attend Fri-Sun (4-days) in air fare/uber rides and admission only because I have friends that let me crash at their place. If including a hotel it comes to $325/day or more or less depending on when you book and how far out. NYCC cost me $350 to attend in transportation/parking and admission for 1 day. For multiple days add an additional $275/day for hotel (or Amtrak round trip tickets) and additional ticket. Using Megabus would bring the 1 day cost or daily cost down to $175. Heroes con costs me $155 to attend in transportation/parking and admission for 1 day. For multiple days add an additional $110/day for hotel and admission. Awesome con costs me $50 to attend in Metro/parking and admission for 1 day cause I'm local but I can usually hit every dealer's booth in 1 day so no need for more. For multiple days (not necessary if just comic shopping) would cost an additional $50/day if local. The 3-day ticket is $75 so if you were staying at a hotel, you could do it for $135/day if you stay at a hotel and take metro to the con. VAComicCon costs me $50 to attend in gas/parking and admission for 1 day also because I'm local and the show is dirt cheap. At $100/day, Baltimore is by far the best bang for my buck remote show followed by Heroes Con based on where I live so YMMV greatly.
  9. I've been going to Baltimore Comicon since 2011. Each year it seems to grow or get better. There was only 1 year where I felt like they had a shortage of comics or dealers but this year...WOW! Note: these are not facts but merely my own skewed observations: Baltimore Comicon 2019 for volume of comics > than any year going back to 2011 Baltimore Comicon 2019 Quantity of Dealers and comics >= NYCC 2019 quantity of dealers and comics Baltimore Comicon 2019 as a show for comics was >= Heroes Con 2018 for comics. (I didn't go to Heroes Con this year but if it was the same as last year Baltimore could have been the best show of the year for comics and that's a tough show to beat) Other great things about this show this year: (last minute Groupon tickets ~ $10 < normal ticket prices) This is still among the cheapest shows for your buck to attend. For the price of 1 day at NYCC or SDCC, you can attend all 3 days and see more comics and dealers or at least the same amount. If you want to attend all 3 days the 3 day pass is still tough to beat but if you time it right you can get the Groupon for each day cheaper than buying the 3-day pass. This is now a mandatory 2-day show attendance. I used to be able to hit each comic dealer's booth on the first day Friday 1pm-7pm. Now you need at least 2 days to hit all the dealers. Fantastic mix of comics of all ages. Lots of comparison shopping for common keys and the occasional big ticket items. One of the few shows that CGC does onsite grading. If you want to get some subs in early, show up and start lining up early. The fact that it's a Friday no longer implies low turnout. Lot of the same dealers that attend NYCC, Heroes Con, Philly, and AwesomeCon but it tends to draw in a greater portion of the overlapp of dealers from all of those shows attending those cons so you almost always get the broadest array of dealers. One of the best Artist Alleys and draws for comic artists. It may not always have all the A-list artists but it does draw a good portion of A, B, C, and upcoming talent. Once I'm done shopping for comics I like to cruise the alley looking for an artist whose work catches my eye. So many great things about this show. Cant wait until next year!
  10. I would agree with this assessment as well just based on what I can see, I think it could press as high as an 8.0/8.5 which may be worth it depending on how much/severe any of the color breaks are. However, if you have a CGC account you should be able to view the graders notes and check for serious non-pressable defects that would limit the upgrade potential. Things like: severe (large or multiple) color break creases to spine and/or cover stains tears to interior and exterior covers humidity/water damage odor
  11. I am willing to believe that Disney would like to make, is researching the possibility of making, planning to make, or did make an offer in the billions to Sony for the rights of Spider-Man (and associated properties?) for completion at a (distant?) future date. I am also willing to believe that Sony would/could potentially entertain the offer, research the opportunity cost of selling vs retaining the rights, or would consider negotiations of a sale at a (distant) future date. However, I do find it somewhat difficult to believe that Disney would currently be capable of completing such a purchase this year with them still busy absorbing/processing/monetizing the Fox acquisition AND their full plate of MCU productions along with Disney+ launch. I also find it difficult for Sony to be willing to sell or enter into talks to sell spider-man (and associated properties) when just 1 month ago they had planned to sever all ties. Now I am willing to believe that all this could happen sooner rather than later if Sony execs foresee a declining interest and oversaturation of Superhero movies and would like to cash out now and use the money to buy into other properties/opportunities that they believe will benefit them in the long term. Disney would also have to see the greater value in owning the property over the long term beyond just the MCU benefits. One bright spot I can see with the sale is if it happens sooner, they could scrap Venom 2, pretend Venom 1 never happened, integrate SM into a Cosmic MCU story that brings about the symbiot, crossover to an FF intro/movie, and a better version of Eddie Brock (and origin) than we've seen thus far leading to a SM/PP aware Venom followed by a full on Venom Lethal Protector movie. If it happens later, well, you could still get all that but maybe further down the line with a bit more cleanup and reboots but they better keep Simmons as JJ.
  12. Yes! I wonder if now they'll bring back Daredevil, Punisher, Defenders or the best of the Netflix Marvel shows under Disney+ and allow them to actually crossover/be involved in the MCU. I mean how badass would it be to have a DD or Punisher cameo in the next Spider-Man movie. maybe. but they've got to do something with that train wreck of Agents of Shield. Maybe get Nick Fury into a Marvel version of the Blacklist. Too bad Black Widow had to die. I could watch ScarJo beat up bad guys all day long as an elite Agent of Shield operative. Guess she's got her own movie but would still have loved to see a weekly program with her.
  13. Absolutely negotiate! Always negotiate. Always BE negotiating. Negotiate with your body language even before you get to the booth. Negotiate with your stare as you get the dealer's attention. Negotiate even as you're making small talk warming up to negotiate. Negotiate hard on the price, negotiate on the payment method, negotiate on a trade in, negotiate on any store credit, negotiate on the fees, negotiate on what drinks you may have to buy the dealer later to close the deal. Just whatever you do, don't be THAT guy that uses the pathetic "please it's for my personal collection cut me a deal" tactic.

  15. I'm at the point where I plan on telling my LCS I'm cancelling my subs each time I go in to pick up my subs. But then I end up just paying and walk out. Damn it why can't I just quit you! Maybe I should just call or text them to cancel.
  16. That hammers got nothin on mjolnir.
