  1. Dynamite does alot of variants but you can't tell by the barcode like every other company. You just have to know. Makes it more difficult.
  2. I understand the skepticism on cover artist runs. However, we need to keep in mind there is a whole generation of collectors who entered this game where variants are king and cover artists and scarcity are more important than content. It's not the same rules the rest of us were raised with. I don't know if old precedents apply. It's easy to say these won't last but the truth is; anything is possible in this insane bull market.
  3. All books shown were .50 cents each except the Detective 1 and Batman Strikes. Those were $3 each.
  4. I have tried a bunch. None of them seem to be created for my type of collecting. Most apps are focused on either checking off what you have read or focus too much information about editor, colorist, colorist's dog name...etc, and give little space for actual inventory information. None of them have a feature to log what you paid for a book. None of them have an easy way to log multiple copies of a single issue, with a way to distiguish condition for each one. Logging this type of info seems like a no brainer but no app seems to be able to do this easily without a frustrating workaround. All apps mentioned above work fine for casual collectors/readers. If anyone has a good suggestion for my needs, please chime in. I would love to try something else.
  5. And this last one I have been trying to find forever! There are a few rare "furry" books that contain early work by Terry Moore. The drawings in these are prototypes for Francine and Katchoo from Strangers in Paradise, according to some fan sites. There are not alot of reference photos for what is actually inside these books. This is the first one I have found and I am not really that impressed. I guess it looks like Francine if you squint hard enough. ?
  6. I have never found a Batman and Robin Adventures 18 in the wild but i'm not sure if it's actually that rare. I do know this last issue of Batman Strikes is pretty tough.
  7. Doing my yearly visit to the in-laws in Florida at the moment. Bored out of my mind. Stealing every spare minute to search comic shops within a 200 mile radius. Here's some rare books I have found so far. Quantum and Woody 1, variant cover. 1st appearance Final 2 issues of Acclaim's XO Manowar, Final issue of Acclaim's Ninjak, Final 2 issues of Acclaim's Magnus the Robot Fighter Last issue of Shadowman, Timewalker and last 2 issues of Rai... Last issue of Turok, Justice, New 52 Detective Comics 1 5th print, Brigade NS 1.
  8. There is no official list but I believe they did nearly every book but Youngblood, for some unknown reason. If anyone knows of others they did not do, feel free to chime in.
  9. Looks like my detective skills were a little off.... ?
  10. I'm surprised CGC does not bother noting this book as "new format" or "first horror issue." This is a huge turning point in the series.
  11. Daredevil is only 1' shilling and it was probably printed in 1965. 1950 seems way off for this book. Maybe more like 1966?
  12. I have seen Wildcats 1 NS graded in 9.8 sell for a very good prices on ebay. I believe $200+ was the last one I saw. The white issue 2 sells decently as well. These are "rare" but not ghosts. Like anything else, they still have to be perfect to acheive a premium. I would love to see a Maxx 1 or Darker Image sell at auction in 9.8. Never seen it happen. I would not be suprised to see those acheive great prices as well. I have never seen that Vanguard NS before. Maybe I never looked... thought I had them all.
  13. Hello everyone. I am a member of an internet group of collectors whose focus is international editions of American comics. You can find us on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/546995245484226/ I am very impressed with your thread and the wonderful amount of information. Obviously finding information about domestic Australian books is very difficult. This is the only book I own about the subject. It's hopelessly outdated. Though the cover claims to have information on New Zealand's books, the only info it offers is about the collectors themselves and merely states "we believe they are young and mostly male." ?? I mostly collect the Horwitz editions of early Marvel, Yaffa, the crazy colored Newton comics and any other Australian editions of key American comics. I have been trying in vain to locate early silver age DC books published in "The Hundred" and other similar titles. I have managed to find a few Australian Golden Age Batman issues that are priceless to me. I also have a great interest in all of Australia's domestic books. Please feel free to come visit our group and post some of these rare treasures. Thanks
  14. I'm sure the number is low but I wonder how long they have been noting the difference between the two editions. Wow, only 15 and none above a 9.4. Too bad mine is probably a 7.0....
  15. Here you go. Not the rarest book on planet earth but high grades are very tough. Mine is not too great but it's the only one I have found.
  16. If they came from Diamond, they would have been direct copies. A larger book chain would have put barcode stickers on them if they did not have any way to scan or inventory them. I have a newsstand edition of this book. The barcode is on the bottom and it is yellow if I remember correctly. Rarecomics.wordpress.com has an article about this peticular book if you want to read more about it.
  17. Here's a few books I just received from a friend. We are both big newsstand collectors. I would love a complete NS set of this Snyder/Jock 'Tec run.
  18. I can see how it looks like that. There are 9 different sales from 9 unique sellers. Most of them are around $20 with a couple in the $40-$50 range. If this is a malicious pump and dump perpetrated by a few individuals, it seems like a huge waste of time. With the amount of planning and research it took to write that article, the pay off seems to be very little for any one individual. It's not that common of a book to hoard multiple NM copies and cash in. I think it's more likely that they are actual comic fans who enjoy pointing out rare variants. They do have around 3000 followers, so it only takes 9 of them who love Adam Hughes and legitimately want that book. People are lazy. They have more money than time to dig through long boxes, like some of us. But then again, I could just be naive. Maybe they do spend this much effort to make $20-$30.
  19. Fatale & Iron Fist are my personal favorite.
  20. Here's an article for you guys who were discussing Spider-Man 400 https://rarecomics.wordpress.com/2017/07/16/amazing-spider-man-400-understanding-the-real-newsstand-edition/
  21. This has been a mystery for me for a long while. I could never figure out why some Marvel books were stamped and not printed. Thank you!
  22. I don't have an Eire price stamped book in my collection yet. I will have to keep a look out!
  23. Unfortunately there is nothing in that article about distributing to Kenya or any other UK territories. Thank you though.
