  1. Well, I started the thread in 2017, and in the past two years the hobby has been on fire 🔥... I think the list of “most valuable GGA books” is due for a 2019-2020 update, if anyone is willing.

FWIW, I liked Rick’s methodology of estimating the value of a 6.0 book, since some of the titles are more or less available in super high grade.

  2. I’m sure it has been mentioned somewhere in the thread.. but are there any Matt Baker books worth buying, which feature a lot of his cover art? I’m not looking for a TPB for a single title, but more a book that covers a lot of his cover art in different genres. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think it will land between 900,000 and 1.1 million. Of the two Universal 9.4's that exist I can't find any record of one of them being sold.

Just found out there is one 9.8 out there. Thats gotta be the one of the top 4 most valuable comics along with the 2 Action #1 9.0's and the Detective 27 9.2.

And since I started writing that previous sentence I just found out that the Cap 1 9.8 used to be a 9.6.

How the heck did that happen?

Any price predictions on the Conserved Cap 1 occurring in the November auction?

Sensation #19, CGC 5.0 cr/ow, 1943 a train cover, and one of my favorite covers in the run. The colors are just wonderful together, they remind me a little of the later L B Cole creations, who knows, maybe he saw this as in inspiration. Prices are all over the place on GPA, so I just prorated a bunch of sales. I know this is not an easy book to upgrade, that's for sure. This book has not been cleaned or pressed, it was from the Evelyn collection originally and I subbed it.

    Bin is $1250.00

    1. the difference betwen the signatures comes down to a small difference in  how the letter j is formed, sometimes it looks a little more like a g. Remember we are talking about someone who probably learned english second after japanese, and learned english curisve after learning kanji in terms of how to write her name. So I think we can allow for the possibility of her occasionally mis scripting her name.

Makes sense. Thanks for solving the mystery for me!

  7. Library of Congress recommends 35% RH for comic book storage.

” Good storage is especially critical to the preservation of acidic paper materials. Guidelines for good storage:

    • A cool (room temperature or below), relatively dry (about 35% relative humidity), clean, and stable environment (avoid attics, basements, and other locations with high risk of leaks and environmental extremes)
    • Minimal exposure to all kinds of light; no exposure to direct or intense light
    • Distance from radiators and vents
    • Supportive protective enclosures*”
