  1. Is Time Warner about to go bankrupt? I didn't read the article, but are they thinking of unloading the DC properties or just scaling back on publishing? I don't think this is a Marvel firesale in the 1990s situation. Time Warner just wants to lose less money in publishing. I am not sure that, other than maybe during some period in the 90s, they ever really made money in publishing. Maybe they can no longer justify the losses in publishing used to generate IP as they have a huge quantity of character and story lines and other stuff already they can utilize for TV and movies.
  2. I'll ask them where they get them. It is better than watching some insufficiently_thoughtful_persons playing video games and saying dumb stuff, which they also watch. too much of. With remote school they are in front of the screen all day. it is really bad.
  3. My understanding is that the zillions of inexpensive t-shirt heat presses that also say "comic books" in the descriptions (and sometimes they try to charge $100 extra for the same press when they say "comic book") are inadequate for pressing comics.
  4. My illiterate children watch the youtube videos where folks read the comics. they really do have a better grasp of recent comicdom that I do. my 9 year old has a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of star wars comics cannon, but I think he has read about 2 of them in his life in hand.
  5. some folks (me) may not have realized it was the first appearance. i was vaguely aware this was a character with potential and i bought harley quinn stuff out of the cheap-o boxes when I saw them and would have bought this (but not for a whopping $3!!) if i ever saw it. I got other BA books out of the cheap, even the prestige Harley Quinn books in $1 boxes, and pretty much all of her first series out of a 5 for $1 box!! (this shop made its 50 cent books 5 for $1 once a week, I went nuts, but not nearly nuts enough in hindsight). when my friend's comic nerd wife wanted to name their daughter Harley Quinn in 2000 (that got shut down for some reason...and he owned a comic shop!) that should have set my alarm bells off to buy as much of this stuff as humanly possible, even if I had to shell out $3 for some of it.
  6. Yeah, i see big asking prices, no actual sales. if i am 20-30% below everyone else I'm still ok. And maybe I keep the #2, dunno.
  7. 129 was a book that dealers who went by guide were screwd on. The 5.0 I bought was just a bit below guide. I sold it here for 2.5x that price the same day.
  8. Yes BA 12 was not expensive.. Until it got expensive. Some time in the 2010s
  9. 129 for $90 in vg wasn't even that cheap 5 years ago. I got a 5.0 copy for $50 at a local shop and a mvs less 4.5 for $20
  10. Fascinating how we were buddy buddy with the Russians in the comics for a hot minute
  11. It has been like 9 months since I bought a comic live I was so excited to see someone selling at a streetside flea market. $1 each. I'm a little late on the Apocalypse books, the Lose is some sort of oddball independent that have high ebay asking prices, but not much in sales history.
  12. If you had an old overstreet at your fingertips I suspect you would see some inflated price. There was a brief period in like 2000 at the start of ebay where 129 could be had at $25, but my understanding is that many were inked copies. (I, stupidly, was only buying GA and SA right then..dumb!) You could probably get a VF ASM 300 for that price. Yes, I got an ASM 300 for $3.50 on ebay, but that was one of these guys who did a "U pick" with like 50 spidey books and I picked the 300. I couldn't believe it actually arrived! I remember paying $65 for a slabbed 9.4 around 2002/3. 361 was never really a "dollar" box book. Obviously mistakes happen. I bought a stack of Raphael 1s for 66 cents each... But yeah, I think you probably could have gotten it in $2 and $3 boxes at shows. Same thing with NM 98, people say it was a dollar box book, but I never saw it in one and I was regularly buying Liefield new mutants when I saw them in dollar boxes (and did pick up some NM 87s...although I suspect they were in $2 boxes) because I thought they had upside.
  13. Agreed, and that is where I do my buying. I only managed to fish one copy out of a dollar box over the years. 362 on the other hand...
  14. We have some nice Star Wars decorations, not comic per se, of course
  15. agreed, you do not want cranberry sauce or gravy getting on your books
  16. I vow to go to a comic shop today.
  17. Not taking chances is probably not good for collectors. that's when the interesting stuff happens.

  20. Thanks everyone who has purchased (and even those who have not, you may see something you want eventually). I have reflected the sales to date in the listings. Expect to get some more up tonight, but need to make dinner for the family.
  21. My understanding (from DC employees) is that historically TW was ok with DC losing a little bit of money or breaking even if it generated enough IP and other material to make money elsewhere. But I guess if other parts of TW are bleeding and DC has mangled a lot of its super hero media, maybe they can't do that anymore. The Rona got many people out of the habit of going to comic shops for 3 or 4 months especially in populatin centers in CA and NY. I have not been to one since March.
