  1. Bluepoint is pretty easy to pronounce.
  2. Wrong! "TOO MUCH GOING ON??" seriously, that is exactly what we wanted in 1981 gosh darnit! We (the 8-12 year olds comics were marketed to) wanted a cover packed with awesome excitement, bodies piled up... YOU WANT MY 75 CENTS, EARN IT!!!!!... not this posing nonsense that passes for covers nowadays. Avengers covers are supposed to have a zillion things going on, there are a zillion Avengers.
  3. I have come to the realization I have a whole short box of Master of Kung Fu... and only one #15 in there (uhg). 3 or 4 16s at least. HOW THE F did I amass a whole short box of this title over the last 27 years (I am certain I had none before I got back into comics in 1993). While I liked some of the covers, I have NEVER read a single issue of the title and know almost nothing about it. What is wrong with me? Did I honestly think filler issues of this title would one day be collectible? On the flip side, other than maybe the 15 and 16s, which possibly might have been $2 box buys, I most certainly paid no more than $1 for any of them and many were 25 cent box purchases, but still... Seriously, I understand owning a box (or more) of Marvel Two In Ones, I've always been fond of the Thing and I actually read them at one point, and Silver Surfers, which I never read, but its a cool character, and Defenders, which I may have read 2 or 3 of, but again, a lot of characters I like, and a box of Ghost Riders, which I have also never read, but they have cool covers...
  4. Loved the cover as a kid. They needed me to fork over 75 cents or whatever it was ($1?), I needed to see there was going to be a ton of stuff going on in that book and it had friggin everything I was looking for!
  5. I have been asked about pricing on 2 books (moderns) and looking at April sales they are up nearly 50% over pre corona prices. Go figure.
  6. I miss being able to go outside and hoping to find this sort of stuff.
  7. I think the $399 asking price is a product of delusion. With that said, I don't think the poster's book is worthless. The other marvel Barbie series #1 seems to actually sell for more.
  8. In the early 2000s I bought some random CGC books from 4.0 - 9.8 to have a library of exemplars to reference when grading raw books. I tried to get them for $15 and under shipped (back when folks shipped slabs media). Hodge podge of BA and SA books, mostly, with moderns in the higher grades. True, I tried to buy decent books if I could. Got a nice swamp thing 27 in 9.8 for $9.99 + $5 shipping. Not that some of these ST 9.8s are selling for much more nowadays.
  9. Put it up for $398 to undercut this guy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-Universal-Grade-First-Issue-Barbie-Fashion-1-Marvel-Comics-1-91-9-4/383497268279?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225073%26meid%3D39d5255f6e314d91b80e25b54f7899fd%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D124007496619%26itm%3D383497268279%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985
  10. No remorse, no regrets.... As I look at how many books in my house I bought for 25 cents - $1 a pop I have to wonder if the money could have been better spent on better stuff. Admittedly, a lot of this bulk was my habitual buying of 15 for $10 books at my LCS for 15 years 2 or 3 times a week (and buying a ton of 25 cent books at my prior LCS). Most of the I picked up at shows for $1-$3 each I don't have regrets, but the endless piles of books from my LCS were just compulsiveness and hoarding and feeling justified because I spent the $10 on comics rather than lunch. It's not like I lost any weight doing this. Of course, had I not been religiously hitting the cheap-o boxes I would not have hit all those mistakes that wound up in there, so maybe it is a wash. One alex ross supergirl/legion superheroes 23 and one (or three) NYX 3 make up for several long boxes of drek and I took home many $10-$50 books out of those boxes as well. But as I organize my collection with my teenager I am wondering what on earth I am going to do with some of these books. I keep on joking with him he'll have a great inventory for a comic shop if I drop dead.
  11. It is an ebay NM and that's what you would have paid raw at the height of things...
  12. The wife and my youngest on a critical mission to deliver our extra wine (two bottles my wife does not like) and beer (my wife and I are on keto right now, so no beer) to the baby sitter two blocks away who is stuck in her house with her own 3 kids and ran out of booze -- she isn't picky (and who hasn't gotten any work from us and most of her clients in a month).
  13. Seems like shops with pull customers can solicit those orders and figure out a way to get stuff to their folks. What % of sales are those I wonder? Get some revenue in.
  14. hobby painting wives of millionaire white house economic advisors scooped it all up
  15. It's funny, i bought a gallon of ethyl alcohol before this started and we really haven't used that much. No need to spray myself silly if I am inside all day. I wash my hands 40 times a day.
  16. I got a package Monday with a GA archie in it. Picked up in my "outside" gloves and it has been sitting in quarantine corner for the covid19 to die before opening it up. I should probably wait until next Monday, right?
  17. That is also a good idea, although it can be a bit seasonal depending on location. just keep the ice cream up front.
  18. That looks like a fun place to rummage around, but inevitably those kinds of places see what you have rummaged and then decide everything is $20 a pop or some nonsense because they have no prices on anything.
  19. june 1980 really no different. more comics were being printed for newsstands then than comic shops. how many of the unsold copies got returned (or kept mile high style), I dunno, but X-Men 136 came out when byrne X-Men was super hot, so I am going to guess most newsies got bought up.
