  1. Gemini is what I use now along with a sandwich on the inside (2 pieces of cardboard I cut myself). Gmini also sells pre-cut cardboard for sandwiches, but it is kind of expensive. As it is I am probably losing money charging $5 shipping (1st class). Before that I cut my own carboard from boxes (my wife loves amazon) and use 4 or 5 pieces as a sandwich, often putting that inside a UPS or whatever flat rate envelope and then that inside a big envelope. The Geminis are less work even though I stull use 2 pieces of cardboard for the sandwich.
  2. Contest of champions and wolverine mini. I set simple goals. Bought them off the rack. Read the bejesus out of them.
  3. I use mag boxes anyway, but my one mag slab drove me nuts.it didn't fit anywhere.
  4. You had 7 friends make lowball offers and tell the seller deadpool is a child molester and he might get arrested for selling the comic? Just kidding.
  5. passed by a flea.. guy had bagged and boarded moderns for $2... it was pretty obvious to me he had raised the 50 cent box at the shop 5 blocks away because he had all the stuff they had in quantity and they give out free bags and boards on those books....had a pile of unbagged books, 80s and 90s drek in not so great shape, picked out a GI joe 121 and 100 newsstand maybe in 7.0-8.0..figuring im ok at a buck..no those were $2 as well...fuggedaboudit..did not even look at the other half of the pile
  6. I don't think the 70s marvel mags had the same quantity / warehouse issues. Of course, many were dirt cheap for a long time. I honestly think many collectors simply have an aversion to their size. They don't fit in non mag boxes and a magazine slab is a huge PITA (do they fit in cgc boxes? I personally love magazines but the market has sometimes been less friendly outside of some keys. I agree that things are better. I have 10 copies of creepy 1, I am all for a mag explosion.
  7. Yeah, I like cena. He has a good comedic touch too. Ryan Hurst seems to be a guy who might cut it. They have a skinny not so tall Irish guy playing him now. While an accent should work, that ain't lobo. Hurst just needs to do a little more lifting. He's a big guy, scarey on WD and sons of anarchy. Albeit not a leading man, but the rock can't be both characters in the DCU.
  8. Rock is black Adam and is almost perfect in that role. Mountain can't act. Lobo talks, a lot. I'll think on it. There are pro wrestlers who look the part, BUT they may not be john cena in terms of delivering lines.
  9. I have not watched krypton but the look seems wrong. And it is not on netflix like the other dc shows. So it seems they botched his mainstream pop culture arrival. I know lobo has had many shapes but the one that folks liked (when lobo was a big selling title and one of DCs most popular characters) was big and burley. I understand unless you do CGI or a padded suit your options for 6' 3"+++ guys who are 300 pounds plus of muscle who can act are limited, but they could try. True, the original lobo was nothing special physically, but he was also a 4th tier villian and then frienemy for 7 or 8 years until They changed his look. They managed to cast drax appropriately. I know hulk and colossus and juggernaut had to be CGI, but lobo is not that big.
  10. The Warrens are great but let's be serious, Warren kept vast numbers of extra copies of even the #1s for years and mile high also acquired zillions. They have serious quantity issues. The other stuff, maybe.
  11. Need to find a lady with a touch of nerd in her at a minimum.(and I'm not making a baudy innuendo)
  12. $500 can get you a nice four color 386. True, uncle scrooge appeared earlier, but this has been considered the big issue and he is not on the covers of the 1st apps. This used to be a big book, but the internet showed Dells were pretty numerous and prices got more realistic. This character is still relevant in the pop culture lexicon and non comic folks would probably think it is neat too. And having been down for a while I think this book or his real 1st app have upside. Would I spend $500 for a 6.0? No, but if I wasn't broke it try to haggle it down. With that said I have more fun spreading $500 around and hunting. I can also sell you 50 nice copies of Thor 339 at an 80% discount from their $2500 FMV.
  13. A good rule of thumb is you need to spend at least as much as her as on this hobby. My wife (and gf before that) was cool with the hobby so long as that occurred. She has even been to shows, albeit with the kids, but she has a little bit of nerd in her (she is a scientist after all) despite hating super heroes. She is all over GOT, WD, SW, ST, etc
  14. I have a couple of SA and BA under the radar keys I look for, But not at $500. Trying to find the next iron man 55 before it pops. Or buying FF 48s in 1994.
  15. Cool. I have a few of those. Thought it was a $5 book and was waiting for double digits.
  16. So $700 to be in the vicinity of l.a.? That's great. I know running AC and other utilities blows that up.
  17. $1700 or $700? Is your space not considered retail? $700 sounds pretty good. Heck I was paying nearly that much for storage 10 years ago!
  18. I always figure the key is a low rent. Walk in traffic is great, but chances are most of your real businrss is from regulars who are less concerned about prime location. What are rents like there? I know it is no one of my business, but in 8 years I will have a decent pension and dunno if I want to lawyer Into my late 50s...
  19. I had him sign a power man and iron fist book. He was pointing out his corny dialogue. He wasn't getting paid either. It was a mini show in NYC put on by a friend to benefit a school. The other guest was Neil gaiman who had a line out the door. John Byrne bailed.
  20. I am reading Firebrand, which is fantasy swordplay type stuff, during my subway commute when I can.
  21. He was very pleasant when he signed books for free for me at a show.
