  1. I was busy hoarding toilet paper and ethyl alcohol in February. What's a Punchline?
  2. destroyer duck 1 I believe was some sort of warehouse they printed an extra zillion copies situation. kirby and adams probaby why. it was found in dollar boxes when Groo 1 from pacific was not considered such. the two books seem to sell for about the same right now for a nice raw copy, but DD 1s in 9.8 are 2.5X more
  3. i wondered if he had licensed any TV / movie rights. I think it probably needs to be a cartoon.
  4. Who owns Groo? I have been trying to encourage my TV exec/producer/creator friend out in hollywood to do Groo as it was the one comic he used to read when we were tweens. The problem is, live action it could be a George of the Jungle type failure. Aragones's art was half the humor if not more.
  5. Yeah, and I thought internet stocks looked stupid in 2000 as well and bitcoin was an insane idea in 2010. Win some, lose some. Thankfully I feel pretty confident none of my SE 15s were 9.8s, I just got rid of a lot of 9.2 - 9.4 copies for $35-50 each. At the time I didn't feel bad about it because I had paid $10 each for all of them.
  6. That's not true come to think of it, last year I got into some bidding war and got stupid and paid over $100 for a book from a boardie who had a big run for sale on ebay. As it looked like it came out of the same collection with like 15 other books i bought I felt comfortable it had not been messed with.
  7. Anywayz, MCP 72 was always a bit undervalued, but it was held back by so many having been printed. I have not sold anything in about 48 hours or received any offers, so i am a bit worried the market has crashed. Sure, I have 6 packages from this weekend I need to ship, so I shouldn't stress too much. Why haven't all the underbidders on the MCP 72 auctions that ended Sunday making me offers on my copy? I was really hoping to fix my roof with MCP 72 money.
  8. I have low expectations here for clarity of written communication, There is a lot of interpretation that needs to be done with many boardie comments.
  9. I looked it up the day of the release and you could buy plenty. That's why I decided not to spec on the book. Folks paying $15 were exploiting themselves due to lack of research. Anyway, I have like 4000-5000 $10-15 books I should be listing before I invest $2 a pop in more of them that might not have staying power. Of course, you never know when you might be skipping the next Saga 1...
  10. WTF you bringing me up for? Anyway, I kind of like the art, at least on the covers of the magazine sized issues, the first 7 issues. Yeah, it is cartoony, but whatever.
  11. no. it has been worth something all along. depends on the condition. the numbers he cited showed 9.2s being in the $170s in 2020, which means a nice raw copy was probably $100, which sounds about right as i would consider buying the book, but i never wanted to pay more than $50-75 for a raw copy. Elfquest started in the 70s, so it was not so much about the indie craze. It had a devout following in the 80s, probably among people who also liked D&D.
  12. Yes, they're beautiful, but apparently these books are second fiddle to a really nice marvel special edition 15 or a VF marvel spotlight 5..
  13. I don't buy raw books that would make any financial sense to have trimmed anymore, so that makes for less stress for me.
  14. Why does it matter? With that said, I wish they wouldn't mess around with this particular character like that. And I am all for all sort of characters, don't get me wrong. Granted, the original Rogue might have been where this was going, but they transferred her into quite a girly girl over the years. I offer Jubilee. Heck, Colossus is never going to be a love interest if they keep the Deadpool version (the best version!), so why not Kitty Pryde, given that she was played by a [future] transgender actress? True, Page is 34 now, so maybe that doesn't work.
  15. I think he means screen time during the recent surge. Let's face it, a lot of characters haven't gotten any screen time for quite a while though. Logan was in a pretty good movie in 2017 though.
  16. I am dubious of the auction results over $100. that seems crazy. It didn't stop me from listing a copy, but I just don't have the cajones to make it triple digits. close, but not quite. It isn't like I don't have 10 more. It is a book I never passed on when cheap.
  17. can you still order all the copies of unicorn you want directly from the publisher for $1.99 each?
  18. isn't it about the width of the book? books got narrower then.
  19. well, yes, the value going up may increase the cost a lot, yes, but how many here anticipated any of these prices?
  20. time value of money. spending $1000 to slab 40 books in 2008 you still own? while there are archival, insurance, and quicker liquidity reasons to have it in a slab, that is $1000 you did not have the use of. How much could that have generated? This is one reason I was not slabbing. I didn't want to wrap a grand up in books I was not planning on selling any time soon.
  21. 238 hit a stoopid number for a character that has not been big for a while
  22. click on those 3 dots on the top right of your browser and use "find"
