  1. that miswrap is a bit jarring on such a perfect book
  2. This happened in the last 2 weeks. Right after we discussed the book. I posted a link to a 9 6 SS that had just sold for $799... And then the book started popping. No corresponding movement on elfquest 2, possibly because high grade Cgc copies don't pop up.
  3. She was just regular hot in godzilla. Her character was supposed to be more mean than alluring.
  4. folks need to stop complaining. sure, the price of the key you want has tripled. but $20 worth of former dollar books can now be sold for $1200, so you can get that key, in a lower grade...
  5. "across the board" does not mean this .. across the board would mean copies of alpha flight 73 are worth something..they are not. ...but #1 is out of the dollar box now "across the board" for books considered keys and semi-keys, maybe, but as much stuff has faded as has popped for example, a lot of these starlin warlocks are no better, maybe lower, than a few years ago, but 179, of course, a copy of which I sold for $7 in November here, has exploded, although at the same time I bought a really nice SS copy for the price raw copies are going for now! (nicest 7.0 I have ever seen): https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=warlock+starlin&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  6. you need to knock on the doors of random old ladies and ask if they have comics for sale
  7. On various threads here people talk about "dreck" comics. Anyone care to name and shame some titles/publishers considered "dreck" that are still currently in the dollar boxes so we can all be amazed when those titles start being bagged/boarded/slabbed/hoarded in the future. 99% of the books from the last 30 years that do not have a first appearance in them
  8. it isn't even my book anymore, and it is still worth a boat load in 9.4, just frustrated at what i thought was an awfully nice modern coming back a 9.4, I need to revise all my listings top make sure I don't say anything is better than a 9.4
  9. No. Someone is going to get a really nice 9.4 that could be a 9.6 on a different day. It has me reconsidering a fair number of future submissions though.
  10. oops, I sold my 154, but that was an auction, so it went for what it went for. if they're ever doing anything with jack munroe is guess 153 and 154 are things to think about, but honestly, the whole 1950s captain america thing isn't going to play in the MCU
  11. Hulk 181 hasn't exactly been affordable for a long time. But yeah, it was "feasible" for a while until recently But hey, maybe the market will start appreciating second appearances? Marvel Premiere 16 is cheap. Spotlight 3? She Hulk 2? X-Force 2? The list goes on and on.
  12. I think it is more than fair on new releases. Dumb for something sitting on the rack for weeks.
  13. I don't know, but I was surprised this came back a 9.4 just based on other 9.4s i have owned that had more obvious defects
  14. yup. it does seem that directs do outnumber newsstands on this book in terms of cgc ebay listings. this was a spec book, so it makes sense if dealers/shops bought thousands of extras, but we have seen this is not the case for books like thor 337 and ASM 252, which have lots of newsies
  15. of course, 180 is basically the first appearance of the nomad costume and name, i guess he is steve rogers after a short retirement, and then jack munroe takes over later, but jack munroe was introduced earlier
  16. it is not about print runs, but people keeping the books as collectibles, which started a bit in the 60s, but by the 70s practically every kid buying comics viewed them as a potential collectible. that doesn't mean we kept them in great shape ... i didn't even see a backing board until the 80s. Action comics was like a $10,000 book. a big deal! the golden age books were pulped during WW II and tossed out afterward. 99.999999% of folks viewed them as thing to be thrown out, disposable entertainment. I think the Ducks books might have been kept more as maybe they were viewed as children's books that should be passed down and read by child after child in a family. and yeah, subsequent books were kept and kept in high grade
  17. it is a nice book, but are newsstands from 1981 really selling for a premium? most of my books from 1981 are newsstands
  18. just seems like TV/movies, too many captain amrica types is confusing as heck. are they going to have old man steve rogers running around as nomad? as we see from isiah bradley (who might be 10 years younger than steve, true) is that the super soldier serum keeps you in pretty good shape for an old guy (just like in the comics). yes, i know they are acting like he is dead, but i didn't see any open casket and there is no reason why the 60something year old looking guy we saw in endgame should be dead.
  19. never saw that in the cheap box. not saying someone didn't put them in cheap boxes, but if i had ever seen them i would have bought every copy. and my shop put a fair # of issues of invincible in the cheap box.
  20. This book that got a 9.4 I thought I saw one super faint spine tick and was not even sure it wasn't part of the cover. i am traumatized.
  21. I accepted an off that was the same as someone else's BIN for a similar copy, so it seemed ok. i have more copies.
  22. I watched a few episodes of that and I don't remember her, but I felt the show was pretty boring and terrible, so maybe that is why
  23. looks good, it was just the line in the box playing tricks on my eyes
  24. she was so hot in the movie with the mean blonde lady who rips off old people and peter dinklage
  25. anyone see any potential with cap 180 / Nomad? Getting $25 or or $30 for a well read copy right now is awfully tempting.
