  1. So he is wearing a blue pair of underwear over some dark grey tights under his batman suit. or underoos under his costume.
  2. i dunno about that. my shop seemed to have 50/50 out there. I didn't buy a ton of books then, just x-men, wolverine, spiderman, mainly, i would buy the cheaper version (it hurt my brain to pay $1.50 as it is, but $6-7 a month wasn't too bad)
  3. oddly enough, though #1 is a reprint and came out after 2 (and maybe after 3), it still seems to be worth more
  4. I'm not saying 282 doesn't make sense nowadays at $15. A zillion were printed, but he could be a big character. I may not have as many as I thought.
  5. I think it could get much bigger in 9.6 or 9.8 as a classic cover -- a 9.6 sold in January for $825, which seems cheap nowadays -- but yeah, it doesn't seem to have generated the buzz of 227 despite being one of Adam's best (and him doing the interiors). Not sure if 9.6ses become $1500 or $2000 that necessarily jacks up a mid-grade copy, though it sure can't hurt.
  6. Keep or sell? Received an offer that is not unreasonable. Did this book pop past current prices last time R'As was in a movie? I know he has been in a ton of the TV shows and that doesn't matter. I can just see this exploding if we have a future Batman movie where they replicate this image or something. Not high grade though...
  7. where would you have gotten the virgin variant for 50 cents? That thing was reasonably popular from the start. Midtown had a 1 per customer limit, but that didn't stop you from buying one at the beginning of lunch and coming back at the end of lunch for another one and then at the end of the day for another one if the cashier was different.
  8. Pip is rumored in externals or gotg 3 I think. It was undervalued in november
  9. yeah, i don't see starfox moving that monster much. even if thanos is out of the picture, it is first drax too
  10. no. davis is way too small and he moves like an old man last I looked. dinklage is actually pretty athletic and moves well, despite being the same age as davis. he looks the part, but if he has a cameo in eternals it seems highly unlikely they got dinklage in under the radaar. maybe martin klebba, he is athletic too. interestingly, all three of those guys are 51. Dinklage is such a good actor. those prices hardly seem insane for a BA book that has not been that easy to find compared to so much other insanity out there. nyx 3 is approaching $2K in 9.8. spawn 174 in 9.8 is over $1100. x-men 244. 282. the madness....
  11. somewhere in this thread i joked, when this was still a $3 book, that is was going to be a $25 book.... I guess I was not far off... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-28-1st-Steve-Rogers-Isaiah-Bradley-Team-Up-Marvel-2004/124670351561?hash=item1d06ee98c9:g:5vkAAOSwK5pgbTuB
  12. yup. I sold my 1st winter soldier before the winter soldier movie. I figured that was when I should grab my cash. Should have waited.
  13. Seriously upset that I did not sneak back into Midtown comics to buy more Frison virgin covers at cover price when they had them on the rack, limit 1 per customer. Just sold one for $125. At the time they were probably about $10 and I didn't want to be a pig to make $5. I should have been a pig!
  14. Oh, I see, I went off on one of my tangents responding to someone's comment and my tangent has nothing to do with the thread. My bad.
  15. x-men 1 wasn't a cold book then. that's just what stuff cost. i sold a 3.5 raw DD 1 for like $300 here around then and a 3.5-4.0 ST 110 for $200.
  16. Yep, a lot of folks complaining about sky high prices, but there are a lot of SA books that sell for about what they did for in the early/mid 90s. I was going through my JIM box and saw a nice copy of 124 (2d Hercules?) and figured it is easy triple digits now. And yes, in a slab, in 7.5 or 8.0 it probably is, after i spend $50 with CGC, but I looked at completed sales and more mid-grade copies are going for about what my old shop would charge for these books back then: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=journey+mystery+124&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 The copy that sold for $25 (the $19 copy might have issues) I could totally see having a $25 sticker in my shop 25 years ago. Would he have negotiated it down to $15? Sure, for a regular, probably. The copy that sold for $30 via best offer is pretty nice looking. And arguably that is a book that should pop a little, he has been relevant in the comics in the last 20 years, and rumors are he might pop into the next movie. Tons of Marvel SA that sells for the same now on ebay as the price stickers from my old shop circa 1993-1996. Was he selling them at those sticker prices so quickly? Probably not, true, there was negotiation, with regular customers at least. And let's not even talk about DC filler books from the 60s in mid and lower grade that were $2-10 then and are $2-10 now.
  17. A local shop here sold me a lower grade x-men for $300 or $400, I forget. This was maybe 10 years ago? He knew he was giving me a $200-300 discount, but he was cool, wanted to be nice, i paid in cash. At the time I was broke and this was almost all my money until next paycheck. I got home and some financial stuff is going on and we need money before the next paycheck. So up here it went for a quick sale, I think I cleared $200 on it. Wish I still had it. Even if it only graded out to a 1.5 (I thought it was a 1.8-2.0), those are $8-9K now.
  18. pip might be in gotg 3? he really does not need to be tied to warlock, who is going to be tough to do right in a movie. rocket and pip are going to be an interesting match up on screen. question is, do they miniaturize a regular size actor a la Hobbit / LOTR or find the next Dinklage (maybe they can use Dinklage, I dunno, he may have the physicality for it, but he was just in an avengers movie...). It is interesting that there wasn't backlash from the dwarf acting community about that ... a lot of jobs that could go to dwarf actors and such, serious whitewashing not sure why i decided to sell one of my ST 179s here in November for $7, which was the going rate for a 4.5-5.0 copy. Now the same one is $35-40. Can't cry because the 7.0 SS I bought then for $70 is probably worth about $170.
  19. the original warp series, yes, the earlier ones, 1st prints more than later ones
  20. Every bronze age marvel outside of price variants, double covers, and some mark jewelers is common. Maybe not in super high grade, true. You need to stop thinking that way. Hulk 181 is a common book. It has been worth a lot for a long time. Hulk 141 and asm 135 are overlooked semi keys. Whether more filler books hit $30 really depends on luck and whether people believe the grade. Put a book out to auction and you might only get $10. Its a crapshoot
  21. someone just made me $5 offer on 3 copies of polybagged x-force 1 deadpool rookie card. i guess he thinks it is two months ago again. it might be.
  22. I should have said "minimum 5-10" copies of. i feel silly, i gave one to a co-worker because she likes bishop, but hey, the next 283 9.8 has a shot at $300, that one doesn't seem to come up all that often, a fair amount of 9.6, not that many 9.8
  23. It makes total sense that X-Men 282, a book anyone collecting in the 90s has 5-10 copies of of, goes for more than a nice conan 1 (and seriously, conan is actually having some buzz right now): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Conan-the-Barbarian-1-CGC-7-0-W-Origin-1st-App-Conan-1st-App-King-Kull-BWS/143991549365?hash=item218690adb5:g:iswAAOSwS-xgYUMp
