  1. by the M in Marvel, top left, is where I see something, could be a mirage in the scan
  2. literally any kryptonian on earth can be superman. do you think no black kryptonians in the multiverse had the $ to buy a space pod and shoot it in the direction of earth with their kids in it? that's racist.
  3. how is it an easy 9.6? i can see a color breaking spine tick up top, so there is probably more going on. I'm a bit shellshocked as a book I thought was for sure a 9.6 and possibly a 9.8 with a ton of luck came back a 9.4. i don't think you can count on anything with cgc.
  4. every one who comes to earth would be similarly powered, but why would they all have an "S" on their chest, that is kal-el's family symbol, no?
  5. terrible, so much of his life ahead of him, but heavy people (I am one), particularly with asthma or diabetes, are at a higher mortality risk in their 40s and 50s too
  6. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=spawn+cgc+9.4&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=spawn+cgc+174+9.6&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1 Ebay buyers would often rather pay more for a raw book and "hope" than a 9.4 in a slab. And heck, half the raw books selling for more aren't even claimed 9.4s. Obviously there are a lot of exceptions. $17.50 for a cgc 9.6?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SPAWN-184-CGC-9-6-NM-Near-Mint-2nd-Appearance-MORANA-Spawns-Daughter-2008/133690420531?hash=item1f2091ed33:g:SR4AAOSwvhtezvDg $65 raw??: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spawn-184-Low-Print-Run-Spawn-universe-Coming/193982761506?hash=item2d2a460a22:g:-pcAAOSwsjVgV~Ww $20 for a cgc 9.4, same seller, same day, as the 9.6?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SPAWN-184-CGC-9-4-NM-Near-Mint-2nd-Appearance-MORANA-Spawns-Daughter-2008/133690420511?hash=item1f2091ed1f:g:8SIAAOSwqehezvE~
  7. it is a concern everywhere, really. i used to know more cops who would go out for a drive on a day off for sh&&ts and giggles if I wanted to view a collection, but I am out of touch with them, and my 15 year old at 5' 10 132 or so is not all that intimidating. i would never carry money with me I suppose.
  8. Elfquest! Although in this market my recent purchases of about 12 issues may make everyone triple their prices.
  9. I might be done. I have two sets of 2 - 7 now. The one I posted a little while ago, not sure what the grade is. I'd probably call it a 7.0, I dunno. So nothing I have is oozing with magical 9.8 elf dust. Most folks don't care and/or don't know what you know. I get off on these tangents now and then. A few months ago I was chasing Love & Rockets. Another property that should be put on Netflix or Prime or something.
  10. I paid $240, so I guess that gives me some wiggle room emotionally.
  11. These jacked up fees are probably going to result in me declining an offer of $335 on a $355 book, which is actually kind of reasonable,
  12. What are ebay fees right now supposed to be? I am getting hammered with a surcharge because i messed up a few transactions last summer. on me, i get it, but it feels like my fees are 50% higher than they should be. So they also take a fee on the tax? But out of my end, not the sales tax itself?
  13. if you read the story you will see that none of them are "superman"... they each have one aspect of superman's powers
  14. tough call. 5 long boxes of picked over 90s drek could be pretty bad. this might have been picked over, but perhaps years ago, so some stuff popped since then. I'm not seeing that much "meat" there... the 88s are going for good money, yes, so those pay for a box, maybe a little more, those spawns were all dollar box books other than #9 until the madness set in, preacher 2 has seen better days, x-force 1 went back to reality, some $5-10 books in there...sure, if you think some of these are 9.8s that changes the dynamic
  15. 254 is underappreciated right now, but unless it is a crazy undergraded and you think there is a 9.8 in there, it will be tough to make your money back
  16. I dunno if "warehoused" is the right word. the legend is that one of the NY dealers made a 10,000 copy spec play on it and was stuck with copies to unload for years
  17. this was a couple of days, and the 700s were up from 500s few days before that. folks knew a movie was coming. anyway, is millie bobbie brown delightful? eiza gonzalez is a stunner.
  18. newsstand depends on when it was printed. some of my early/mid 80s books I have multiples of the newsstands way outnumber the directs. but stuff from the 2000s, they are genuinely harder to find.
  19. the book is not selling really for more now than in january. a copy of the green cover sold for $108 then and the "collector's" one has been around there too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adventures-of-Superman-500-CGC-9-8-2043371001-6-93-Original-owner/113896103446?hash=item1a84bc9e16:g:XKMAAOSwGcRdhQSW https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adventures-of-Superman-500U-Unbagged-No-Card-CGC-9-8-1993-3715872001-/313393717385?hash=item48f7b8a089%3Ag%3AV68AAOSwlJ5gDeX4&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 still worthless raw: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=adventures+superman+500&_sacat=0&Certification=Uncertified&_dcat=17084&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  20. there was a godzilla movie 2 years ago that was considered a mild flop. gonna be hard to make a clear profit on the $160 million budget in this climate even if this is well received, but HBO Max getting a legit movie every month or so is going to help it survive as a streaming service. mortal combat is not far away. i was joking. a few hyperventilated bidders seem to have moved this from a $500 book to whatever the heck it is now, I am dubious the book went from $700s upon release to a real market for $900s+ in a couple of days. but now every ebay seller has readjusted there prices to four digit BINs. it all seems to be s self fulfilling prophecy. the funny thing is, 9.6ses have gone down according to ebay
  21. Do you know how many Avengers Annuals 10s I picked out of $1-2 boxes over the years? And Rogue was a big character the whole time.
