  1. And not even $15 lately for the most part. That book might have even been down the last few months. Ignored in the hype of other stuff
  2. Yes. I just wish I had sold the cheap stuff before the good. Yes, some garbage has popped too.
  3. Hbo max is attracting subscribers well ahead of their projections. Of course, if they don't come out with something like Snyder cut or ww84 every two months that might dry up. Of course, it cannibalized regular hbo, which we dropped when we decided we no longer needed direct tv
  4. I can't and don't. I can relish with stiff that hasn't popped or just popped, but never keys. I have owned most 5-25 years, the SA book mostly from 1993-2000.
  5. It's depressing to think about the $50-$100K I am down from selling stuff too early and the buying opportunities I passed on, but it's not like I even thought about buying Apple at 30 cents - $1 a share for the nearly a decade its price was seriously depressed. I could be retired and genuinely rich, not just comfortable, if I had just been putting my fun money into Apple during those years.
  6. Depressing desperation sales to pay bills. Would have been better off selling more $2 books and putting more work into it.
  7. so just looking at an old message from May 2015 when I sold a boardie 3 Ultimate SPiderman 4s for $35 includiing shipping and I say this: "they'll probably be $50 a pop by the time they get to you." ... When I am thinking these things I probably shouldn't be selling the dang book at the price I am selling it!!!!
  8. What I meant was I was too lazy to sell them when they were $75. Now that we're at $230, for a copy described as VF/NM, I am getting off my fat arse!!
  9. I dunno, the Venom 3's seemed to have topped out at $350 (dunno about the third print) in january or so, and the last one was $300, this was under $300 on ebay about 3 weeks ago, but it may take a few days for the market to hyperventilate. tons of them out there and many are signed.
  10. actually, i have 4 that are identical. they each have one small spine tick in the same spot, but otherwise pristine, so I can't really say they're 9.6+
  11. i thought knull was in the thor book thank goodness i don't own any of this stuff
  12. as I have more than one 230 it would be funny to have one in my store at $230 and start another one at auction at $199 and see if it goes over the $230. they're basically both identical.
  13. I would have taken $2K for it in a heartbeat 2 years ago, but it is a book I know I need to get slabbed.
  14. "fairly cheap" is relative. I sold a spine split completely cover detached lower grade copy here for about $75 maybe 10 years ago. so, yeah, relatively speaking, cheap, but not THAT cheap. this 3.0 does not look that bad and you can probably get it under $1300: https://www.ebay.com/itm/sgt-fury-and-his-howling-commandos-1-Graded-3-0-1963/363277063019?hash=item549500136b:g:c9EAAOSwMONgFaTZ ... Nick Fury (even if they changed his look) is a huge character in the Marvel Universe in comics and movies. Only TTA 27 and ST 110 are even close to being that low in 3.0 in terms of pre-65 major 1sts. I cannot believe I happily sold my 3.0 or so X-Men 4 for $100 or $120 way back when...I was psyched as I had paid $20 for it 10 years earlier.
  15. Thanks valiantman for the primer on these. I think this is better than the vg+ advertises. Happily under $20 shipped. Yeah, you have to be over 40 to care. Whatever...
  16. Nothing for 12 hours. You broke moderne are heating up.
  17. But there is another insert like mark jewelers I have seen in some 90s books, was it a different jewelry company? i don't think those appeared in every issue of the book.
  18. Isn't the answer "it depends"? Here, as noted, in this issue alone there were probably hundreds of thousands printed out of the millions total, so yes, not rare. But completionists who want every version of an issue? I suppose it matters to them. And while there is virtually nothing from this era that was printed in low numbers, i suppose if some low print run title ever got hot and some copies have the insert and some don't, maybe someone will care. But honestly, it sounds like a big PITA figuring this out. I mean, most of them just look like advertising pages, why should we care? At least the MJ insert is of a different card stock, they really stand out, and are only found in a small fraction of the books. Of course, so many books of this era also have cards in them you need to check for removal. But I am guessing, for the most part, every direct or newsstand version of a specific issue will have the same insert(s)/cards, so you're not going to have 10% of the direct copies with a given insert and not the others? If so, that would be interesting.
  19. I used to buy these for 10 cents and sell them well on ebay at $3-4 a pop back in 2000 or thereabouts. Big money back then! Dunno about this one, sorry.
  20. I'm just talking about 132. 130 and 133 are not crazy like 129, but they're doing fine. I just got an offer at $27.50 (on a free shipping book) for my 9.4 132. It is a nice looking copy, i understand the buyer is probably factoring in a 9.0 or 9.2, that's fair. That is below the going rate, but not vastly. I don't see myself ever being able to replace it at $25-30 cost. Perhaps it is the current market messing with my head, but I am going to hold out. A lot of stuff I say "what the heck" when I get an offer, but I don't see a crash making that a $22.50 (after I eat the shipping) book.
  21. the 2.5 and 3.0 that sold recently are not bad looking copies. I need to get my #2 slabbed. I have dreams that it is a 7.0. Sold to me as an 8.0, of course, but that was 25 years ago. I was going to say how it is sad that an early key like that is absolutely dwarfed in value by so many new books in 9.8, but I've just looked at recent sales, it might be a $4-5K book in 6.5-7.0... I had it in my head it was maybe $1500 Avengers 2 is still pretty affordable. Possibly because nothing much happens and Space Phantom isn't much of a villian. But who knows, maybe their connections to Immortus/Nathaniel Richards might become relevant.
  22. outside for 3 or 5 issues of sgt. fury, has any of it ever not been cold? you'd think it would have rode the wave, but not really, very little of it is relevant to today's stories (or even stories of the last 10 years), so once you get outside of your couple of 1st appearance issues and von strucker, zemo, cap, is there anything else? unlike Our Army at War/Sgt. Rock, you don't have a killer cover every other issue or so (and Sgt. Rock introduced more interesting characters over the years) [frankly, in hindsight, Our Army at War really was the gem of DCs output for a chunk of the 60s, just MHO]... but in typical DC fashion they didn't understand that they should capitalize on this super popular character and get him into current continuity... it took Marvel all of 5 minutes to have Nick Fury simultaneously having adventures in WW II and later in current continuity as a spy. Perhaps DC didn't want to copy this (given that Sgt. Fury was just a copy of Sgt. Rock, why not?)
