  1. Number one for me is pretty easily Chris Bachalo. This splash from Age of Apocalypse: Generation Next was THE piece I wanted when I first got into collecting. Who knew I'd stumble upon it so early on and get a good deal. It was also my first international purchase! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=213604
  2. Right, that's where I got the idea. Hoping someone with some experience can give me a few pointers. And maybe a good source for the overlay.
  3. I recently bought a page that had several panels inserted digitally. I'd like to replace them to display the page. I'm pretty sure I can handle the art end of this. (Most of it. I'm going to have to track down the non-Ditko panel.) But I'm looking for advice on mounting it. Obviously I'm not going to do anything to the actual page. No glue. No tape. I'm thinking the new panels should be mounted on an acid-free layer of acetate? Anyone have any experience with anything like this?
  4. Delurking to share a couple of pieces. They're both on CAF, so you've probably found them. First is a pinup from Parker that was used as a print. (I still don't have a copy of that print ...) I've also got a couple of pages from "The Outfit" that Darwyn sent to me in lieu of a sketch he owed me. I'm not complaining. Second is a prelim from his 8-page Rocketeer story. I never did pick up a page from this, and it is one of my collecting regrets.
  5. I’ve got a few, but this is my favorite commission and my favorite published piece.
  6. You just have to dig. Email people on CAF. Watch the auction sites. Most of the people who have them aren’t letting go. (And - like me - are usually looking for more.)
  7. Email Jason at Essential Sequential. He can tell you. https://www.essentialsequential.com

  9. Always a little jarring to scroll through a post and see a piece you own! Thanks for the comments all. This cover is well-loved.

  11. They pop up on CAF or eBay every now and then. Good luck! And thanks for leaving the Gen Next pages for me. ?
  12. And here's the page I ended up with. There are a few that I'd rather have ... but only a few. Pretty happy with this one.
  13. As someone who pretty recently went out searching for a Hitch Ultimates page (and found one) there isn't much out there to be had. The good stuff is locked away and anything that people are willing to take offers on is more than a couple hundred dollars. Comiclink had a Thor FPS (that was also used as an alternate cover) sold for just under $1000 in March. (It had some condition issues, but I thought it went low.) There were a few other nice splashes/covers that they sold a few years prior, ranging from about $900-2000.
  14. Yeah. I got in just in time and got some great stuff. But I was doing 55 in the right lane when the rest of the hobby blew past me doing 80. ;-)
  15. This is outstanding. I didn't even know this book existed.
  16. Threads - and auctions - like this just remind me that I am the lowest of the low rollers in this hobby.
  17. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge fan of Chris Bachalo's. His work on Death and X-Men and Generation X is just amazing. But I think my favorite piece of his from my small collection is this super-creepy splash page from Shade the Changing Man. My wife won't let me hang it for some reason.
  18. I see this a lot on various FB groups where pop culture stuff is traded. (Not comic art specific. Mostly posters.) It's bad enough when people have this done to a limited edition print (that may fetch a couple hundred dollars in NM condition), but whenever I see someone asking if they should get original art signed by an actor (sometimes one with a thin connection to the piece) I cringe. And try to talk them out of it.
  19. I probably spent an hour staring at those Wrightsons ... both times I went. So amazing.
