  1. Here's a page from Defenders #30 I came across in CAF (owner: Paul Roach). Pencils are by Sam Grainger, inked by Jack Abel. This was Bill Mantlo's infamous Tapping Tommy fill in, which was included in an Amazing Heroes feature on the worst comics of all time. Valkyrie was poweless against other women in those days, and couldn.t even defend herself against a female robot in the last panel.
  2. On his Byrne Robotics forum Byrne said "When I was signed up to pencil UNCANNY I asked that Grainger stay on as inker. I felt that it would make the transition easier for the readers. EiC Archie Goodwin was insistent that Terry Austin would be the new inker, and that was the end of that." link
  3. Spoon Dillin drew JLA from #64 (published in June 1968) until #183 (published July 1980), missing only five issues.
  4. The top creators lists on the Mike's Amazing World website have Kirby at #2 (behind Swan) and Kane at #8 (following J Buscema, Colan, Byrne, S Buscema and Infantino) for number of pages pencilled, and at #1 and #2 respectively for number of covers drawn.
  5. Don Perlin, George Tuska, Irv Novick, Mike Sekowsky, Don Heck and Sal Buscema are other names that spring to mind.
  6. It's taken from page 15 of Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD #7 by Frank Springer.
  7. According to GCD, the third issue of the Malibu Bravura 1995 series of Metaphysique by Breyfogle was entiled "The Oneironauts Session Three: Mythologem", but Ive not read it, and it's perhaps from too late to have included your page. .
  8. Did X-Force #1 really sell four million? The figures I remember being bandied about at the time were closer to half that, which would still be impressive for something so poorly drawn
  9. What do you mean by redrawn collaboration? I thought the GS DD cover was inked by Frank Giacoia.
  10. Looking at the Wikipedia list, I can think of at least one omission: Nova v1 #5, which featured appearances by Marv Wolfman; Sal Buscema; John Verpoorten; Archie Goodwin; Roy Thomas; Stan Lee and Beth Bleckley, the last of whom was apparentla a secretary, who I remember getting a few credits for computer lettering on Deathlok in Astonishing Tales..
  11. Wikipedia has a list of appearances of comics creators. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_comics_creators_appearing_in_comics
  12. London Editions was an imprint of Egmont UK, not of DC, so I wouldn't count Moore and Morrison's work for London as work for DC.
  13. Nice to see Trimpe's original version of a classic cover without Romita's modifications.
  14. The GCD entry for MWOM #159 says " Cover was used only five issues earlier so this must have been a production error." I think the Tiger Shark story ran in #158-9, so the error would have been using the cover for #154.
  15. Not sure who it's by but I'm certain Russ Heath had nothing to do with it. Could someone like Mike Sekowsky, Frank Springer, Jack Sparling or Romeo Tanghal have had a hand in it?
  16. I think the first Guy Gardner in GL #59 would be considered Silver Age. The first Bronze Age Human Target was Action Comics #419.
  17. The Original Art board's thread for A-level page prices seems to have Byrne and Perez in the same ballpark: $30-40k Byrne - X-Men $10-20k Perez - Infinity Gauntlet $5-10k Perez/Marcos - Avengers 1st run Byrne - FF / Iron Fist / MTU / Avengers 1st run Perez - New Teen Titans / Crisis on Infinite Earths $3-5k Perez - FF / JLA Byrne - Captain America
  18. You could try the Mike Mist Minute Mist-eries #1, published by Eclipse in 1981, which featured single page stories by Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty. An explanation of how Mist solved each mystery is printed upside down at the end of each page. Mike Mist backups also appeared in Ms Tree.
  19. Your colour guide may be authentic, unless it's by Neil Adams, but Patterson's Warp colour guide looks nothing at all like the published version,
  20. The first image is page 2 of Warp Special #1, but the colouring doesn't match the published version. The comic was published in 1983, but Patterson's signature says 84.
  21. The Grand Comics Database says: In The Avengers #197 letters page, Michelinie writes that Frank Miller "was able to add some identifying details to Sal Buscema's pencil art."
  22. 10. Two-Gun Kid #68 by Jack Kirby & George Roussos 9. Strange Adventures #170 by Dillin & Sheldon Moldoff 8. Detective Comics #328 by Carmine Infantino & Joe Giella 7. Doom Patrol #86 by Bob Brown 6. Sea Devils #16 by Russ Heath & Jack Adler 5. Sgt Fury #13 by Jack Kirby & Chic Stone 4. Fantastic Four Annual #2 by Jack Kirby & Sol Brodsky 3. Avengers #4 by Jack Kirby & George Roussos 2. Justice League of America #29 by Mike Sekowsky & Murphy Anderson 1. Amazing Spider-Man #16 by Steve Ditko
  23. This reminds me of John Buscema's cover to Conan Annual #7.
  24. The Thor pages are from Marvels [sic] Comics: Thor #1 by Derec Aucoin and Walden Wong.
