  1. It's no big deal. He also said something about "it's professional graded at 9.8" which he probably didn't realize actually worried me more then he said "pgx and cgc are about the same. Sometimes pgx is stricter, sometimes they aren't as strict." Well I understand that they could be more or less strict, that's why I wanted some more pics to decide for myself. I also understand that the book could be full of black marker color touch, but that is another discussion altogether.
  2. Yeah, I hope whoever wins it makes out ok. I am definitely passing. I asked the seller for more pics and if there were any minor flaws at all. He didn't answer my question about any flaws and told me that he wouldn't send me any more pics because he had problems with someone taking the pics of his "pgx 9.6" Crow #1 and trying to use them. I told him I understand the concern but that he shouldn't let one person limit all of his future listings for the rest of his life. I told him that I was a serious buyer and I asked him to check my feedback/put his name on the pics/use a watermark, etc... No reply. As much as I'm always on the lookout for a Crow #1 in 9.8, it's not worth the chance to me. Oh, and that top right corner looks soft.
  3. Looks like Barrington is finally serious about selling his CP #1 9.8 flip After the auction, I wonder if he'll be kicking himself for not taking some of the offers he's had on it over this past year?
  4. Thanks! Kudos to LoneTree for fast payment. Make sure you show off those sigs when you get them! -William
  5. Right back at you Steve! Stvfisher is a great new board member with excellent tastes! Perfect communication and quick payment. Highly recommended. Thanks bud! -William
  6. I've never seen that Comico Christmas special before. Nice! Keith's the man!
  7. I'd try a group shot like that, but probably couldn't come close to that pile of O'Barr goodness. Uh... Nick? You been drinking tonight? Have you looked at your Crow collection lately? I bet you a Crow #3 9.8 that your Crow group shot would destroy that picture. No, I do not have a Crow 3 9.8. I don't need it for this bet.
  8. I am humbled Thanks. It's now a shell of it's former self but still decent. Lot's of Crow love here the past few weeks!
  9. Trust me - that slight corner bend from not being packed right took a pile of books to remove. (thumbs u
  10. Wow, now there is a Crow legend worthy of a comic all by itself. I sincerely wish you luck William and I'll always try to help when I can. I promise. Well, William and I bid on the same Crow #3 (right around the time when he said he wasn't buying them anymore ), and it was pure luck and budget that I got to that book first. It ended up being the first 9.8 in the census. And you made poor Joy give you a partial refund because you didn't think the book was as described! Thankfully you did win that book because remember that the other 3 I won ended up damaged.
  11. Wow, now there is a Crow legend worthy of a comic all by itself. I sincerely wish you luck William and I'll always try to help when I can. I promise. I already owe you thanks for pointing out that Crow #4 9.8 a couple weeks after I contacted you about yours (and Jen's).
  12. Nick that's a beautiful set of books, for sure Thanks folks. It was definitely a labor of love tracking all those books down, with two years of searching. And trust me, there were more false starts with misgraded book sales than I care to count. But it was well worth it in the end. 2 years? How do you do it Nick? You are so much more efficient then me it's embarrassing. I've been searching for over 18 years! The pathetic thing is that there are no other titles that I've actively searched for in high grade. Not one. The Crow is it. I've done the "crow -fox" search on ebay at least twice a day for years... But you give me hope! WOW! 18 years? Man I feel almost bad I asked Nick to sell me a complete set one day, half jokingly because I knew they are kind of hard to come by.Nick was the greatest and sold me a complete Caliber#1,Crow #1-4 and Caliber Christmas#1 and I think we hashed out the sale in 5 minutes,I could'nt believe my luck.No years of searching for me...................Sometimes I guess you do have to be in the right place at the right time. Oh don't get me wrong, I've had close to 30 sets come and go through my collection. Probably 50+ copies of #1 1st prints. I LOVE the hunt so don't feel almost bad! When I say searching for 18 years I'm talking about trying to find NM/M quality. Since the series first started being rereleased by Tundra I have searched for near perfect copies of the Caliber series at shops and conventions. Even during a 6 year hiatus I took off from comics, I would still go into comic shops across the US (I used to tour with my brother's band) and look for high grade copies of The Crow. I've emailed probably 80% of the couple 100 stores/dealers listed on cgc's website (the other 20% I either couldn't find contact info or my email got returned to me since their address was no longer active). Nothing. But I think you are right, sometimes it's all about the right place at the right time. Sometimes you get lucky and other times when you are 13 years old you trade a NM- '86 Fleer Jordan Rookie card for a F/VF set of The Crow. I haven't been in the right place thus far when it comes to NM/M #'s 1, 3, and CP 15, but I will be. 50 copies come and go.WOW! I thought you were still looking for one set.Sometimes I can be such an i-d-i-o-t. You are not an i-d-i-o-t. I bet Nick gave you a better deal on your first Crow set then I got on my first set. Haha.

  15. Jim/luke_19-10 was a serious overgrader in the past, and would fail to tell bidders about creased back covers - heck, he wouldn't even take the book out of the bag to check. I hope he has changed his ways. But I would never buy books from him again. That's why I didn't bid. I wasn't familiar with him but when he sent me pics I could see his CP 1 had multiple color breaking spine creases and he had that graded at NM+.
  16. Anyone on here win that ebay Crow set tonight? It looked decent. 1, 3, & 4 looked like they could be in the 9.0 to 9.4 range. Some slightly rounded corners but nice nonetheless.
  17. When did you go though all of this? I threw him on there a month or two ago, though mine wasn't nearly as mind-numbing as yours. Sorry to hear about another one getting the shaft from ffxmen14. Yeah, about the same time as you. I think right after the last time he backed out was when you put him on the list. He immediately came back and said he wanted to make things right with all the board members. I respected that he wanted to try to clear things up and salvage his reputation around here so I gave him a chance.... A couple months later and I'm here.
  18. Thanks everyone for your kind words (for me) and angry words (for Chris FFXMen14). It was a terrible experience but I don't know if he deserves the boards HOS spot. He wasn't around long enough, nor did he off enough people (as far as I know). He'll always have his own little HOS spot in my heart but to put him on the same levels as Herald2Galactus, Cap Freak, and AlleyBat may be a bit extreme. Thanks though, -William
  19. Extremely educational, William. I'm just sorry you went through that. Not like the time payment fellow that paid within days because he felt guilty having debt. Days? Your "time payment" was what, within a day or two? That's faster then many people's normal payment. I almost had to put you on the probation list for lying to me about how long it would take! That Nick guy... you just can't trust him.
  20. I know ffxmen14 is already on the probation list, but I want to make it extremely clear that he deserves to be there. Before he was put on the list, I spent over 12 hours looking for and pulling over $500's of cheap runs and individual comics for him, pricing them, packing them when he told me he would take them all, unpacking them when he told me he no longer wanted them, pricing what he decided he did want, he pays $25 towards his new $350 total, and I repackage them again. He then said he no longer wanted them once again. I was going to put him on the list then but he immediately came back on and said that he was going to make payments as to clean up all loose ends. Ok... Now they are still sitting boxed up, addressed, and ready to be shipped. He was supposed to be making time payments but after not hearing from him for a month I tried to contact him through PM. Nothing. Emailed him. Nothing. Sent a paypal request. He cancels it within minutes so he is obviously getting my emails, but doesn't have the courtesy to even respond. Email him again. A day later he finally responds and says he's backing out. Any of you like to go into work for 12 hours and not get paid even though you are told multiple times that you will be? Then you have to spend the time an undo the work you did, still not getting paid? Pretty awesome. I doubt he's coming back on the boards so this rant is probably useless. Oh well. Anyone have his ebay username? I want to block him on there too.
  21. Those Crow #1 additions blew my mind. That is quite the jump!
  22. Hey Bud! How's the haunted/ghost seeking adventures going?
  23. Hey everyone! Love to see some new Crow chatter! I actually had an old letter from Gary Reed that had the print runs of CP1 and the Crow issues, but I lost it years ago. If I remember correctly, which I probably don't , CP1 was in the 5000-8000 range. It was the second Caliber comic (after Deadworld 10), but first new series. I honestly could be way off... It's been so long. I know it wasn't a huge print run and it was smaller then Crow #1 and it's multiple printings. I'll be interested in what Chris finds out! And just to clear up something on Gary's behalf, Caliber didn't go bust forcing The Crow to Tundra. Caliber continued to publish all the way through the 90's and had many successful titles. As far as I know, James O'barr and Gary had a falling out. Jim said The Crow wasn't being promoted as much as Gary had stated it would be, and Gary disagreed. I don't know who is right, but Jim decided to move on.
  24. Just added to the Census: Crow #2 CGC 9.8Q Crow #3 CGC 9.8 Crow #4 CGC 9.8 (I think there were previously only 4; now 5)
