Really sorry to hear that. If you have pictures of the books and cgc case # or had cgc image the books I would post a thread saying missing books and be on the look out. That way if theft occured maybe they can still be found. Good luck. -

Comprehensive List of DC Universe Logo UPC Variants

Thank you that's two new ones! It has been a while. -
Completely understand. Curiosity just got to me. There are two on Ebay still sealed and here is the numbers from the back. If there were only 25 released . I am wondering how they numbered and if like some one these low numbered manufactured rarities that they made more and some of those other may have made it out. One example is Superman 75 platinum that was numbered on the back which at least one has surfaced that does not have a number. Good luck on your quest for the information!

I really wish I could remember where the Gold Zero Hour came from as well. I know they had the regular version Ashcan as well as a preview in the Sales Promotional Kits sent to Retailers. Full kit contents This is the only one on the census currently, although I do have another off to get graded wish I could help more, but definitely interested in what information come to light.

double action comics #1
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to Ashcan/Comics's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I found this a very good read. I know it started in 2006 and only recently got a bump, but no one uploaded a photo. I found this image from a CC auction in 2016. With this DESCRIPTION Contains Ashcan #1 & Highest Graded #2 The story of Double Action 2 is reasonably well-known in collector circles. DC, like many other imprints, would claim copyrights with ashcans and test the market with limited print runs. Publishers, eager to capture a great new title, threw already-printed material into cheap, black-and-white editions and sent a few copies around the office, or in other cases, to barely a handful of newsstands. This was the case with Double Action Comics, and for many years, collectors assumed that the second issue, with a color cover and black-and-white interior, was the only issue of the run. It's not an ashcan in the strict sense of the word as it enjoyed enough of a run to make it to a few magazine racks around the NYC area. As it's not really an official DC title either, Double Action 2 has enjoyed cult status as a charming anomaly, an oddball super-collectible that scarcity hounds would fight over. The Overstreet Guide, since nearly its inception, listed an issue 1, but, seemingly, no one had ever seen it, or, like Bigfoot, it was only seen by a friend of a friend of a friend. Did it really exist? Was it out there, somewhere, lying around someone's office, trapped in DC's files, or was it a hoax, perhaps a misheard rumor, a non-existent whisper, a ghost? We're thrilled to finally put the rumors to rest with this astonishing find. The elusive, long-thought-lost Double Action 1, offered here as a pairing with an incredibly high-grade copy of Double Action 2. We believe the Double Action 1, likely the rarest of all DC comics, came from the offices of Sol Harrison, one of the longest-serving members of the DC bullpen, who rose from colorist to production manager and finally to president of DC. In the combined 75+ years of experience in our senior staff, none of us, I mean none of us, have ever seen a copy of this incredible document. The rarest of the rare, the absolute pinnacle of any DC Golden Age collection, scarce does not begin to describe this book. Assembled in DC's offices and produced in incredibly low numbers, it's a miracle this copy even survived, but it has, and is in remarkable condition. In addition, the Double Action 2 is one of the two highest-graded copies on the census, making it a vital part of any serious portfolio of high-grade rarities. We can't possibly overemphasize what a rare opportunity this is, and how incredibly scarce these comics are. This chance will not come again. Believe it. Double Action Comics #1 Notes: off white/white pages; Ashcan; Interior is 9th wrap to 16th wrap of Action #15 (all 3 edges hand-trimmed & assembled at DC Comics Offices) Double Action Comics #2 Notes: white pages - Overstreet Guide 2016 NM- (9.2) value = $28,000. If anyone else has any other pictures or info to update this that would be awesome. I always enjoy reading about the history of these ghosts. -
CGC Grading Collectible/Trading Cards...?
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to theCapraAegagrus's topic in Comics General
I do like the concept, however with that said it really gets to me they go straight to MTG , Pokemon. Completely bypassing their market. Non Sports. Most of us comic collectors may have some Marvel, DC items that we would love to have in a complimentary case displayed with our comics. Instead they go for the gaming cards , and have now announced they plan to do sports as well , although this is partnered with CSG( their previous attempt didn't go so well SCG) . Only time will tell how this will all play out , but my personal opinion is that they should have at least tentatively stayed in their already carved out market and offered the complimentary services to gauge interest as well as start to establish value increase over competitors first, which would have been easier in a relatively lower value market. Then expand into addition services ( custom labels, signature series , wide cards, uncut sheets, and a whole slew of add ons). All this while refining the grading process, cases , labels, etc. Then targeted the bigger and higher dollar markets of Gaming and Sports cards. Just my -
If you want it removed then professionally would be the only real way to completely not only remove the sticker, but the residue left. I might also recommend if you are looking for that you can look at who has replied to your questions ( not myself) and you may find you have been talking with , in my opinion, one of the best in the buisness!

Yeah but that face, neck, come to think of it even their legs and thighs look short like this might be a Dwarf Superman and Steel. When it comes to Man Mane from the 80's style... Wella , Where the action is...

While I do have to agree that the horse faced crossdressing Mary Jane is one of the worst ASM covers , This one still definitely deserves its fair share of hate. next thing you know there will be a crossover where Superman starts dating Fat Mary Jane.. Or maybe she will be into Steel?

You are welcome. Most of these are thought to have been stickered by book stores they were sold through Barnes and Noble, Walden Bookstores, ETC as these stickers contain "EN" in the barcode and most books were ESN barcodes. Another note on these is that most of them were direct editions that had the sticker placed over the direct box. I have currently found a stickered version for 3 of the 4 prints of the Superman #75. Only one I have not found a stickered version is the 3rd print, although those were distributed in a pack to Walden Bookstores and actually had a Newsstand Barcode printed on the cover

I completely agree with Joey he is correct. Here is an example of one of mine which for me is fine as I have been specifically getting some of the stickered upc on the Superman Death set , but when it comes to value or resale the Qualified label and sticker can make a lot of others lose interest. Others like to see some of the stickers as it is some of its distribution history.

CGC Trading Cards is Here!
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to Brittany M.'s topic in CGC Trading Cards General Discussion
I too am curious about this as others have mentioned. What all type of cards may be submitted ? What are the size restrictions? Small vintage. Tall or Wide? Also how well the market will pay for these. Even now the market varies widely for each type ( sport, non sport, vintage, playing) and which service is used (BGS & PSA ). I had too hoped they wouldn't just charge along the same lines as others considering they are new to cards and unproven as far as return on value. They also have not stated how they will treat restored, trimmed, or counterfeit cards. I do think adding a fee for error cards is excessive. They definitely should have a registry as PSA offers this and not having one at release is a big deterrent considering they have it for the comics. Although I forsee them adding Signature Series and Special Labels before they add most of these things we have already mentioned being issues as like the fee for an error card they can make more money quicker. -
Comprehensive List of DC Universe Logo UPC Variants
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to revat's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
And another high dollar sale in the DC Universe Logo tonight. This seller originally had it listed Tonight they ended it and relisted it after I assume some one had previously offered what they priced and shows as sold tonight. $1200 Although this one makes a little more sense as at least a CGC 9.8 and a very tough black bordered book. I know the Adventures of Superman 521 there have not been many of those found which is why I did expect it to get some premium , but with it being raw and maybe upper mid grade really did not expect that $710+shipping. This Action Comics in 9.8 I was not as surprised but still definitely deserved to be shared here as I am sure if even back in 2014 when this topic was started I am sure almost everyone here would have laughed if anyone had said any of these DC Universe Logo would have sold for over $500 much less over $1000.. -

Ok well seeing that some of these have obviously reached unattainable price numbers as there is no way I could or would justify spending that kind of money even on some of the "rarer" issues , coupled with the fact I will probably not see another one. Here is one I have been quietly looking for as it has not been on the comprehensive list until now Superman Man of Steel 39
