  1. This is interesting to note that copper age books have surged as of recent. More so than silver and bronze (except maybe the key books). I believe that the kids who grew up during this period are now grown with disposable income and the lack of high grade copies (let's face it books during this era were treated like trash).  Plus it has yet to be fully strip mined. Lots of great 1st appearances (Silver Sable, Darkhawk, Hobgoblin, Amethyst, etc) and movie potential. The only drawback are sheer numbers. By this time the speculation boom was in full effect, but lots of variants (with low runs) and 2nd and 3rd printings.

    Death of Superman anyone? Anyone?

Laugh it up Einstein, and even for someone of your obviously-limited imagination you should be able to understand that Copper or Modern simply cannot keep getting extended ad infinitum. What happens in 2050? 2075? 2100? Assuming humankind is still around and we have comics, is Copper going to get 50 years and Modern another 50 years?

At some point we need an age to define the early-90's to mid-2000's, and that is what I am referring to.

I dunno if there is a title but maybe the SILICON AGE? TITANIUM AGE? DIGITAL AGE? BRASS AGE? Just my 2¢. What do you think?

  3. I would also mine SHOWCASE as well. LOTS of 1st appearances there at very low prices. Marvel is a little more difficult to pin down during this era. Most of their new characters are Bronze age. However, SGT.FURY #1 is a key Marvel that has not hit crazy prices....yet. I would also consider STRANGE TALES #135 (1st SHIELD) and #151 (1st Steranko Nick Fury) also any STERANKO cover is a must have.

X-MEN Steranko, Adams or Smith runs are also good to look into. AVENGERS #93 is a must have and is getting up there especially in high grade. AVENGERS #69,71 and 83.

DANG YOU! Now I have to get these! They look fantastic in hardback form. I wonder what the print run on those are? Better check the BAY.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying BB60 is undervalued because it's the first appearance of the Teen Titans. I'm saying it's undervalued because (a) 1st Wonder Girl, and (b) enough people MIGHT some day discover that the current "first appearance" of the Teen Titans doesn't have any appearance of a team called "Teen Titans," in which case, BB60 today might look very undervalued indeed.

I am not sure if BB 60 is exactly "undervalued". It seems to be pretty expensive on EBAY. However, there still might be room for growth, especially on high grade copies. If I were TEEN TITANS collector, this would be in the collection for sure. As far as WONDER GIRL, I seem to recall that she actually first appeared in WONDER WOMAN (as herself in teen form, I think), Now I know this is the DONNA TROY version so there is a difference but I seem to remember that the teen version of WONDER WOMAN was called WONDER GIRL (correct me if I am wrong).

Also, TEEN TITANS #1 is overlooked often and #6 (1st BEAST BOY with TEEN TITANS).

I think the best value is DC PRESENTS #26 (though not silver age). Still VERY affordable (even in high grades) and it will be the one any movie or TV series will be based on.

10,9.9,9.8....then by 0.2s to 9.0 then by 0.5 ie 8.5 8.0 7.5 and so on until you get to 2.0 then it's like 1.8, and I don't know the rest until It gets to 0.5 and no grade lol

Strange eh? I used the old OVERSTREET system for so long that it's part of the blood stream. But I am getting used to the numbering system now. Even for an old timer like me. The problem is the nuance in the lower and higher grades. It's getting used to the little things that can add or subtract even the slightest point. Seems once a book is about VG-VFN things are lot looser.

Actually it is VF- is 7.5

    VF=8.0, VF+=8.5, VF/NM=9.0

Fn/VF is 7.0... so you have it good at the moment :)

Yeah. I'm getting used to the whole numbering system. I guess for the most part until you get past 9.0 the other numbers don't get used like 2,3,4 etc. Like I never see a 8.7, or .75 or 5.3.

I hear you, but for how long? .... will it sustain value....? I think that it is the anticipation of it taking off, same with Iron FIst and IF isn't being buzzed about as very good. It's still on the same page as Luke Cage in quality but even LC has moved up in value. I don't blame Marvel at all; these properties were just sitting there collecting dust. Moon Knight has been "underground" in the hopes that when it becomes main stream it will flourish. But like everything, sometimes, when you eventually go hollywood your looked at as a sell out......so "who know's?" is keeping values teetering, you already find yourself in the game though! more power to you. Hopefully someone will come along and can divulge more info :)

I hear you. I am only thinking about it anyway. The hassle might not be worth it. I guess I should be happy with my copy as I only paid 30¢ for it (average when you add up all the other comics I bought). And a 7.5 is not bad at all really. Still a FN/VFN.

There is no argument. Anybody can read the book(s) and see the obvious truth.

Did the astounding Separated Man have one earlier appearance? Huh, I never knew that.

You don't need to justify your love of Mr. Twister to me.  I also like a few villains who aren't exactly in the top tier.

Okay... then why do prototypes have a special name that separates them from the real thing?

I dunno really. It is the perception I suppose. Technically you would be right. BB #60 is first mention of TEEN TITANS on cover. Same goes for Marvel Feature 1 as first DEFENDERS. But the market is different. As collectors we can accept or reject things based on our on bias and the market. I choose to accept BB #54 as 1st TEEN TITANS and will vote with my dollars as opposed to BB #60 which I want but am unwilling to spend the same amount. I may be wrong but it really does not matter until I decide to re-sell it. You decide for yourself.

I don't know firsthand but think that it is a couple of things: Bronze Age, movie spec because decent enough character with decent story; someone else could probably point you to a better conclusion. lol kind of like Iron Fist has a cult following, like any niche it spills over to others who say, "oh, here is something new to collect. I think the main thing is character spec. along with rare in high grade as always.....

Personally I don't know if anything specifically has been done with the character, although Werewolf By Night was always been a thing and Moon Knight was first represented etc. it is just kind of going on it's own, but really how does anything get started, people just end up trying and liking. Don't ask me if it will hold value, but it's been going on a while :)

Yes. This has me very puzzled. There is NO mention of a MOON KNIGHT anything as far as TV or Movie and yet high grade copies are approaching HULK 181 levels. Yet IRON FIST, which has a TV series, has not gotten anywhere nearly as close. That is why I think a good pressing might raise it a few notches and improve the overall look.

  11. Just based on the photo I would say it is legit. It looks like like commissioned piece or character design. It maybe a piece from that infamous ARGO thing they did a movie about if the date is right. You may have to have an expert look at it closely to see if it is "live ink".

You would eat the cost, meaning pay twice...."if" it is an Original Owner copy, it might make the same difference if you just disclosed that if you sold. I'm selling this, hasn't been pressed, a little premium etc. I don't know how well that would work lol but it's a thought ???

If you want it for the PC go for it, especially if you have the Grader's Notes :)

Thanks for the advice. I am actually the second owner. I got this from a long time friend who was selling the collection to raise funds and who collected WEREWOLF BY NIGHT and just happen to have #32 and #33. I also have #1-31,34- end of series. I don't mind paying twice especially since this is becoming a major key book for some reason. I mean really, what gives? I like MOON KNIGHT but the prices are crazy.

    You're hard up for a B&B54 argument...I just don't have the fanboy energy. Enjoy your 2nd appearance B&B60. I'll enjoy my 1st appearance B&B54

I have to agree that B&B 54 is first TEEN TITANS. Maybe not by name but certainly in spirit. If not for this trial run, there would be no TEEN TITANS. Like SUBMARINER #34-35 was the proto-DEFENDERS. AVENGERS #71 proto-INVADERS. HOUSE OF SECRETS #92 proto-SWAMP THING etc.
