To be honest, I don’t consider Tigra and the Man-Wolf "obscure" by any means…
Perhaps, but there has not been much done with them and their first appearance (Tigra not Werewolf) is still VERY affordable.

Do you think it could benefit from pressing?

A 9.8 of MS #32 has a GPA 12 month average of $789.
That seems pretty up there to me for a schlock character.
I stand corrected. I did not realize it was up there. Thanks for the info.

Obscure BRONZE age characters 1st appearances
I've been searching for obscure 1st appearances of bronze and copper age characters recently and its been fun!
The heavy hitters will always be there but I've focused those characters that fly under the radar that might be ripe to exploitation later.
I mean who could have predicted TOMB OF DRACULA #10 or MARVEL SUPERHEROES #18?
Here are some of my recommendations:
What would you recommend as sleepers?

And the prices shot through the roof for 9.8's. I think at the time a couple years ago I sold mine for upwards of $500.
For Machine Man
Is MACHINE MAN that POPULAR now? I have not heard anything on any movie or TV series and I don't see him being used by Marvel much. What gives?
And yet MARVEL SPOTLIGHT #32 is still affordable and I would think SPIDERWOMAN 1st appearance would be way up there!

JACK KIRBY signature value?
I bought a original owner collection recently and among the comics were a NM set of CAPTAIN VICTORY #1-5 with JACK KIRBY signatures on the first page. The original owner said he got them when he was at a Houston, TX convention in the late 1970s.
I'd like to ask if there is any value to them and how
do I get them certified? I know CGC does not confirm signatures unless they witness them but since Jack is passed how do I get them authenticated?

I'm in the midst of figuring it out too. This'll get you started, but there's no easy way but to slog through.

Thanks for this link! It is really helpful! I already found several on the list. MUCHO GRACIAS!

I have to agree with the NEW MUTANTS #98 argument. Just because it is not the "real" appearance it is the "first appearance".
However, the market will determine. My money is on NEW MUTANTS #98. She appears on the cover and is mentioned by name in the issue and appears in it even if she is not the "real" DOMINO. If YOU want X-FORCE #11 to be her 1st appearance then that is your right. CGC is not infallible. They make mistakes and in this case they made one.

I definitely received the "movie spike" from GOTG. I only bought the books because they were the 1st appearance of the celestials and knowing the Marvel movies were headed towards Infinity War.
So much of this is just pure speculation, just look at the 1st app of Machine Man and how that spiked. Is he even more than just a rumor to be in a movie at this point?
I know, right? One day 2001:Space Odessey #8 is in the $1 bin, the next day its a $50 book! Did I miss something?

Love the duck, but most of us HTD fans were there at the beginning. Not sure the younger fans get it.
What gets me is that he's appeared twice in a Marvel movie. Despite the awful 1980s movie he at least had a movie. Marvel seems to have a hard time knowing what to do with the Duck but he somehow fits in the GUARDIANS of the GALAXY. Is this Howard before he appears on Earth or was he "plucked" by the Collector which implies that he is the last of his species. What if Howard becomes a Guardian? Highly doubtful but you never know. There's got to be something going on. My spider sense is tingling.

Duck Love?
I've noticed that HOWARD THE DUCK makes ANOTHER appearance in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and yet he has not exploded in the collector's market. Unlike WARLOCK (who hasn't even appeared) has exploded on the speculator market. What gives? No love for THE DUCK?
I for one love the DUCK. I am buying all the high grade ADVENTURE INTO FEAR #19 I can and issue 1.
I would love to see a ROCKET RACCOON and HOWARD THE DUCK Team-up!

Need some help....
I just bought a collection of about 6000 comics of mostly late bronze and early copper (between 1985-1994). All are Marvel and DC comics.
Besides the obvious keys what books should I look out for? Any advice?
Mostly all are very high grade (VFN/NM) as the collector I bought them from never read them. He just bought them and stored them away.

Agreed. Regardless of who was calling themselves the name, the character, persona, and likeness of "Domino" first appears in NM 98, period.
The rest is just pump and dump noise.

Ok. By that argument then STRANGE TALES #114 "technically" features the 1st SILVER AGE CAPTAIN AMERICA and not AVENGERS #4 since it predates #4. Even if he was not the "real" CAPTAIN AMERICA it is sold on the cover as such.
