  1. Over the weekend, went to a flea market and found a couple with a short box of comics. Mostly Disney and Archie but did find these for $1 a piece.
  2. Well, I didn't want to pay to look up values. I just wanted a resource to find comics listed in various grades with accurate prices. EBAY is all over the map and it's not that accurate. I hate when I go to a flea market and some guy has some nice books and goes to EBAY to see what the prices are. Usually he goes for what people are asking for and not what the item has sold for. I don't mind paying fair market for something but the problem is what is an accurate gauge.
  3. Best place to get accurate prices Where is the best website, app or book that will give me the most accurate price on comics. I used the only COMICS PRICE GUIDE but everyone tells me that website is long out of date. EBAY is too volatile varied to get an accurate reading. The OVERSTREET is also out dated even before it comes out. I could use help in determining my collection and key books. Especially for re-sale or insurance.
  4. I agree on POWER PACK. It's only a matter of time. NEW MUTANTS is a prime example. Not only does POWER PACK have an outstanding run on its own but is firmly established in the MARVEL UNIVERSE. I also believe GREEN LANTERN #141 has great potential as well. 1st OMEGA MEN could be DC's answer to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. plus LOBO! RAGMAN #1 is also a sleeper. DC's DAREDEVIL? Another overlooked gem is STATIC #1. Had his own animated show and could possibly show up along BLACK LIGHTNING. PHANTASM from the comic adaptation could appear as well in live action form in either GOTHAM or in a BATMAN movie. A great villain to rival the JOKER! Other possibilities? PREZ, NEW GODS, MR.MIRACLE. THE DEMON, SATANA, DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON, SHANG-CHI MASTER OF KUNG-FU, WHITE TIGER, JACK OF HEARTS, SHOGUN WARRIORS, MICRONAUTS, DAZZLER, SPIDER-WOMAN, NIGHT FORCE, CAPTAIN CARROT, AMETHYST?
  5. I used this one http://comicspriceguide.com/
  6. Ok. I checked the online price guide (and I am not sure how accurate it is) but a .5 condition (poor) is still valued at $1400. So $5000 is way off base IMO. Certainly not worth it especially restored.
  7. Hmmm. Like a big hotel. I know the power level of the Legion is way up there as a group so its hard to come up with credible threats. Past stories always seemed to deal more with in-fighting or betrayal rather than an outside threat. Another thing is that they are all teenagers. Hormones must be raging in the clubhouse. I mean in all these years not a single pregnancy? Also, do they eject a Legionaire once they reach a certain age ala LOGAN'S RUN? I don't remember them every getting old though I may have missed that.
  8. Well, you could always de-power them somewhat or set a limit to membership. I mean I always kind of wondered why they are all together at once. Did the clubhouse have THAT much room. I always thought they should run like a firehouse. Rotating the membership with shifts.
  9. I know right? Too bad ALAN MOORE hates DC right now but he could rock that world. Of course it would probably involve half of them going insane and the other half being killed.
  10. I agree somewhat. The whole "inspired by Superboy" doesn't seem to work now since Superboy (the silver age version) no longer really exists so cannot be instrumental in creating the original LEGION. The GUARDIANS angle would probably work for LEGION. A group of intersteller superheroes. But then we have the GREEN LANTERN Corps for that. LEGION would have to be entirely different IMO. I would love to see JIM STARLIN take a crack at it. Perhaps Paul Pope or Terry Moore.
  11. Would you buy it? I like looking through Craigslist and other online sites like it to see if any comics come up for sale. Most of the time its recent stuff but every now and then this comes up. Would you buy this comic at $5000? What is max you would pay?
  12. Interesting. There is a RED RAVEN that appears in the X-MEN as well. These can't be the same can they?
  13. Is it worth it? This came up recently on my local Craigslist. He is asking $5000. Is it worth it?
  14. It depends. If you have a straight run then I think sets are better if they are issues that are not key or major series. For instance I think you would have better luck selling a set of HUMAN FLY #1-17 rather than selling each issue individually. However, if you had X-MEN #94-100 then it would be better to sell individually. Though I have seen large lots sell extremely well, especially if peppered with some key issues.
  15. I would recommend also MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL: THE NEW MUTANTS (1st prints) especially in high grade.
  16. Why couldn't DC move the LEGION to modern times? I could see a retconning where they become stranded in the past and have to adapt to our primitive world. Maybe some time warp or experiment goes wrong. We could see new versions of LEGION villains and perhaps they bring back some 30th century virus or create a genetic modification to create modern versions of the LEGION. Then they could be on par with the JUSTICE LEAGUE or THE TEEN TITANS.
  17. I too loved the silver age LEGION. They were fun and silly but not to the point of stupid. Lots of potential and 1st appearances. I am looking for a nice copy of SUPERBOY #89 (Mon-el) and SUPERBOY #98.
  18. Very interesting thread. Speculation on books can be a tricky thing. On VALIANT until the 1st movie comes out its iffy for me. I never cared much for the VALIANT universe and it depends if a mass audience will also accept it. If the movies are good then I am sure the comics will spike but I don't have long term confidence. But if they can be had for cheap, why not? My collecting habits have changed to buying up 1st appearances of little known or obscure characters from MARVEL and DC. I used to be able to pick up BLUE BEETLE from Charlton #1 for next to nothing just 3-4 years ago. Now its exploded. Here are some books I recommend if you can get them cheap and in high grade: POWER PACK #1-Laugh if you will but then BIG HERO 6 was a nothing title also. The title itself screams DISNEY. I will almost bet they are developing it in secret. Right now you can still find #1 for less than $10. I still find them in the wild for $1-$2. I pick up all I can. GREEN LANTERN #141-This introduces the OMEGA MEN. With GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY a big hit for Marvel, this maybe DC's intro to its cosmic universe.
  19. It looks like the black plate got off center.
