  1. I did, but more 80s than 70s, and my comic store was much closer than Manassas. In the old Burke Center Mall I think
  2. They have an application process after which they authorize a dealer to take submissions, but then won't help you if you submit that way?
  3. I've sent in one batch of moderns, which I did to try and maximize value for selling, as I'm selling to use the money to support art making. The bolded is absolutely true. However, the result that I got from slabbing has shown to me that it is a house of cards. A shared delusion. Because the bolded is true, it is necessary for everyone in the market to believe the grades are objective, when at the same time people acknowledge that 'grading is subjective and there are good and bad 9.8s'. I might send in again, just a handful of my most valuable comics, but more than likely not. It's become clear to me that it doesn't solve the problem it's supposed to solve. It may tighten the window, but the parameters for that window are not driven by the grading standard, they are driven by market forces and company decision making.
  4. Wish I had anticpated Wizards being worth anything. Hopefully my throwing them out slightly increased the rarity of them
  5. If you still need info, I used to be a custom cabinetmaker, I can give you advice on products/quality construction.
  6. These two are mine, only reversed. A giant dude made out of metal who doesn't really want to hurt anyone, and an artist? Pretty awesome. And I liked Thing because he was always game, no matter whether he was overmatched or not. Kind of odd that I liked the big guys, because I'm the opposite. Shoulda been a Wolverine fan really.
  7. Hi all. Selling off my collection to help support my art making. All books are original owner unless specified. This thread will continue to expand as I get pics of stuff, there is a lot still to come. Offers considered. First in the sales thread is the PM negotiations are not valid until the buyer posts an per PM in the sales thread. On the runs, there may be a few duplicates I don't feel like pulling out of the group, so you might get a couple extras. I took photos of every 10th comic, plus a couple of any in between that might be of interest. If you want photos of a particular book, just ask. Payment Paypal Shipping $5.00 shipping CONUS/box per 10 books. First 10 free shipping (I'll combine as best I can). Returns I package pretty well, but if a post office employee drops it off a building, runs over it, then backs over it again, then soaks it in an aquarium filled with piranhas, just pm me and I'll get you sorted out. The Goods Will list here, then photos in subsequent posts. Spider-Man (1990) 1-46, 50 - $80. #1 is the Gold version
  8. No, it's just industry standard for moderns. Good point
  9. I haven't read it in forever, I'll look. I think they just didn't have one at all Edit: Yeah, they never had their own. So he didn't so much die as never exist. It's a mix of the Superman/Batman origin. The Waynes find him, name him Bruce not Clark, and then Batman's origin story takes over. It's a really good story
  10. Is it me or do Batmans look like Ryan Reynolds?
  11. I think cgc is not handing out 9.8s like they used to, but 9.6 value hasn't caught up yet. And most modern keys still aren't too overpriced that they are getting out of reach. CKinto's list is it for the whole era's major keys. Everything else is low enough priced that 9.8s are still relatively accessible
  12. I'd call cgc and find out when they shipped it back to the store, go down to the store with that info, and demand your book back.
  13. Dunno if it counts, but in the Speeding Bullets Elseworlds, the Waynes find Superman, not the Kents. So Bruce is Clark.
  14. Yeah. Don't think the comic store did themselves any favors keeping silent, but since the rightful owner has possession of them now, we can just walk away like we watched a movie with a nonsensical ending.
  15. So they hadn't sold them, they were just holding on to them?
  16. Nobody bit on my 20 or so for .50/ea, so I would guess so.
  17. I've reused amazon boxes from work. Slab in the bag it came in, wrapped in bubble wrap, then encased in a solid styrofoam coffin.
