  1. That XMen Gold has to be some homage to the little-kid-drawing-their-favorite-heroes drawings that they probably get in the mail all the time.
  2. It isn't right that they should be expected to store them, but I don't think anyone did expect them to. At the point of receiving no information from the cops, they should have either taken them to the station or informed the police they were returning them to the owner. At no point should they have ever thought it was okay to sell property that was stolen.
  3. You're right, you're allowed to have whatever viewpoint you so choose. And I'm allowed to call it mysogynistic, too. While I cannot stomach that there are people who feel entitled to lay their hands on others without permission, I also recognize that there are people who feel free to do it, and it makes me sad. It is treating another human being like they don't matter, they're just there to be taken from whatever you wish. I bet you wouldn't enjoy it if Brock Lesnar felt like grabbing your rear end without asking, and he very much doesn't have the right to do so.
  4. So if you want your picture taken, that is also handing over any control of who touches you and where? As for him being in a wheelchair, I have met and conversed with people in wheelchairs, that is not where their hands went.
  5. So what? Don't grab a woman's posterior without their permission no matter how close in proximity your wife is. No one is entitled to squeeze anyone else's anything.
  6. As it stands, the credibility of the claims against Lee is very dubious, but it's also sad to see some of the responses in here about how okay it is if it were true.
  7. Yeah, nothing about the store selling them is good
  8. Must've been anomalies, according to my sold listings search
  9. And put me down for against, to balance things out. I thought the end of the fall of the mutants to moving the team to australia was the end of the decent stories. When Silvestri left and Lee took over was the beginning of the blah to me.
  10. I've only subbed two sets of prescreen (so 25 comics a piece), and by my calculations, it was a little over $21 per. Those, like several of mine, could be slab fails. Or they sell volume I guess. Factor in misses though, and that's gotta be a razor thin margin. I'm not selling as a business, just getting rid of my old collection so I probably am not slabbing any more, except maybe the handful I have over $100. Given the attrition from missing 9.8s, I wouldn't be surprised if those $35 slab guys aren't actually making any money.
  11. Yeah, if that's a 9.8, mine's certainly an 11.2. I just have to find the right box.
  12. I also suggest buying what you love. People/trends/timing is too much hassle to predict IMO.
  13. I'll put 'em up here, not ebay. Wiser bunch here. I may not be the best grader, but I try to do right.
  14. If Hulk and Wolverine were going to show up in the same movie, IMO it would be best to do a flashback movie like First Class and make it the whole movie.
  15. Your biggest issue is going to be grade. The same comic can be $5 or $500 depending on the individual book's condition. If it's not encased, then the posted grade in a sale is a guess from the person who is selling it. Some sellers try hard to guess accurately. Some give their comics generous extra credits. Even the graded ones are subjective, despite the purpose of the grade making them objective, but people don't seem to have a problem with it. Gocollect.com is a good resource. The best advice has already been posted - what it sells for on ebay is what it's worth. Search raw or graded sold listings to see what a comic is going for.
  16. Awesome. The roller skate really takes it next level
  17. I don't know how I missed this, but thanks webhead! Glad you like it
  18. Why be disappointed at all? Not having something you thought you did in common is unexpected, but the care is the same. It's just the details, caused by time, that are different. The medium has to change or die. you really want the new generation to like that last generation? That will kill the industry. it's an opportunity to teach and to learn, and see the progression.
  19. If there is a handling fee, they can charge what they want, but I was under the impression that 'shipping' charges legally can only be the actual cost to ship.
  20. if that's the case, it both still doesn't change the point, and it doesn't really apply. If speculators find this app, and use it to buy comics, it may make prices go up, and it may not as the demand at the higher price must be there. But that also allows for collectors to profit off of these books by knowing which ones to sell because they are not worth the current price inflated by speculators. Anyone with experience in anything is likely to have more ability to find an edge than someone new coming in blind. Which one is really worthwhile and which one is driven by speculators? Which one is worth slabbing and which one isn't, etc.. It doesn't change the point because that's still trying to snag a pricey book from someone who doesn't know better. You don't have to share your knowledge of anything you don't want to. You don't have to give someone a leg up. But if someone else does and one hates on that, well that's not on the guy who helped.
  21. Agree. If one is mad that it's harder to sucker someone now, well that says a lot about one's character.
