  2. This was Not meant as a referendum on any particular travel service

But rather a way to show  visitors, a More reasonable option  for NYC travel

In addition Most of the Long Island hotels offer free parking, as opposed to NY where parking is around $60 a day

LIRR also offers MUCH More comfortable, cleaner and safer Transport

    then NYC trains

all in all this option can save around $600

  3. as the NY Hotels are running $300 + per Night, I can provide some Help here

If you go to Hotels.com ,  type in as your destination HICKSVILLE STATION

This is in Nassau county, Long Island

with the dates oct 6-9, You will see some nice economical options, I did this Just now and top of the list  was a days inn for $113 per night ,2 miles from the station with breakfast

Hicksville is a main hub and trains run  back and forth to and from Penn  fairly frequently. its about a 40 minute ride,

The Lirr round trip is appx $25 , Penn staion(32nd and 8th)  is about  1/2 mile from the front of the convention center

There is a connecting train, but it is a huge pain in the

There are 2 great diners on 34th street on the way, one is the tic-tok, I don't remember the other

If you have any questions about using Long Island as an Option, feel free to ask

  6.  I went through Payettes back Boxes, And with respect to the Man, you did not miss anything   It was mostly the Books from last year which were largely mid grade fiction house. I bought a couple, But it was Nothing to scream about

As far as dealers "snatching all the good stuff on friday" In my Opinion Terry's comics had the best (affordable) gold in the room , and he did not open till Saturday, so there was PLENTLY there for anyone who wanted to look.

See everybody at the next show

  7. First, I want to comment on the Cap 164 pictured above, One of My favorite bizarro covers

Featuring Falcon as  a werewolf , with an AFRO ! AWESOME !

I won't comment on my own pricing But I will say,  some of the dealers had very good Prices . My Partner had ONE of his BEST shows ever, And I spent a lot more then I thought I was going to

I totally agree That the Corporate shows Have become problematic, The Ticket prices I think keep a lot of Potential Buyers  out, And the booth investment makes doing the show a tough choice

Appreciate the Photos, Especially Liked the Tec 27 with a $1,000,000.00 price on a little orange Post it

  8. One of the good things about Carbo's show is that it really has not changed much, since the Admission was $7, It's still the same kind of weirdly compelling old time comic show with that NY feel   it always was,

Just as a Point of Comparison, Parking was $57, So $30 was pretty fair

maybe see you there next time

And yeah when you go to mega shows,

you're paying for celeberities, not just the comics

  9.  It seems high, But,  there were more Comic dealers  there then at most of the Convention center shows, and good ones, tons of awesome material in the room, remember its NY and really I don't think the admission was out of line

Plus this Is a real Comic Show, very few Pops and such.

This was definately one of Mikes better shows, The place was a weird labyrinth with dealers everywhere,

      Sorry you missed, it

      May re-think for next time...

  10. I am familier with both

        3 Good things about NY

        1) Huge Multi Media show with lots of Excluves

         2) Lots of Stuff to do In ny, and lots of place to eat, hundreds,  within a few blocks of the convention center

          3) Lots of events, Lots of forums, Good transportation

    3 Good things about HEROES

         1) beautiful area, easy in and out, Reasonable Parking,

         2) A comic focused show with great Dealers

         3) Lots of comic creator guests

If you are going to NY make sure  to make early plans, Parking is ridiculous event rates are 50-100$ a day  and hotels are also very expensive, a lot of People stay in NJ and take a bus back in forth
