  1. Where would you suggest? Hakes was suggested by a family member who runs alot of stuff through them
  2. To quote Frank Burns: “Paranoia is just good thinking when someone’s out to get you.”
  3. I am taking a look at Hakes Americana and Collectables
  4. I just pulled it and about 30 other books that are cgc certified, I have been thinking about selling them off. This AF 15 has been out f a drawer 2 times since 2003 and I have a daughter starting Duqesne University, I have seen the sales of this book and others on Ebay. I have been kicking around the idea and was wondering if I could sell it as is or perhaps submit it for a new holder.
  5. I bought this Amazing Fantasy in 2003 already graded but noticed there were some cracks to the holder. I am able to slide a fingernail between the front and back of the case in the middle of the slab. Is there any way to make sure this book and holder haven’t been tampered with maliciously? If I can submit the book for a new holder, would that be the point when I find out if what I have is right? Am I just being paranoid? This is an older case but it worries me to submit the book at all as it I may be worth more than my car if it is correct. Any way u can tell from the pictures? I thank you for your time.
  6. I will say a 7.5. I have a JIM #112 with a similar sun shadow. The rest of the book looks nice though. What is the page quality like?
  7. I am still questioning my grading skills but thought a 6.5 would be great after a press. looks like some color breaking creases on the left of GLs chest. I think a good presser will do wonders for this book! JMO
  8. No hidden surprises… light spine roll, wandering what u think before and after a press? Thanks in advance!
  9. For your consideration… I am not sure how page 3 effects the grade. All are folds except 1 clean tear up to the panel of the page. Is it able to be pressed out? Wandering what u think the grade may be as is and after a press. Thanks in advance!
  10. Courage, r u referring to the times at cgc? I did notice the web site was now processing books from May I believe…
  11. Wow, now a presser that is local to Sarasota that you can trust, that sounds like a great advantage. I do appreciate the feedback.
  12. After the press, I can't see below aa 6.5 and you may get the 7.0. IMO
  13. Hello all, I haven't submitted any books for probably 8 years to CGC. At that time, I joined for a year and received a coupon for I believe 4 books to be graded free in the standard tier? I am considering sending 15-20 books to CGC and was wandering if anyone has a best practices? I know how to print a form and submit but then I have seen talk and heard of you all submitting through a local dealer or shop. Just wandering if someone could explain the advantages and disadvantages to both if there is? Also, I have never used a "shipping kit", are they required? i did old school 5 books bagged and boarded between cardboard. Thank you for your time.
  14. No, it’s the back cover only, the inside pages are unaffected, Thanks!
  15. I'll 2nd the 4.0 but think u have a shot at a 4.5 as well.
  16. I would guess a 9.4, maybe a 9.2. top stale tear is the biggest issue i can see. JMO
  17. Just because no one has ever seen this rare book… my youngest swears he didn’t knock the book off the desk, it was like that when he got there. lower spine upc corner got a boo boo, any thoughts on a grade on this one? would a clean and press help? Thanks in advance!
  18. as it sits, I think an 8.0, but a press I believe could eliminate the issues on the back covers spine and ++
  19. I am in the 4.5 camp as well but I would have no problem being sold on a 5.0. The book presents very well!
  20. It’s just a spine crease and yes, I believe a smudge. Thanks
