  1. Well the benefit to me is that I may be able to finally catch up on a few shows...
  2. I actually missed Kirby, at least from what I recall, at the SD Con but got to meet him at a local comic store in the late 80's. Wasn't a huge crowd but he seemed genuinely nice and good for a little chat. I do remember this lady hovering over him who I didn't know at the time but later realized it must have been Roz Ready now for the Washington State Summer con in June and have lucky to meet a few in the past few years (Claremont, Starlin, Jerry Conway, Roy Thomas, etc.) to get photos, comics and prints signed.
  3. As others answer - yes. That said with many submitted for Sig Series events, reholder, etc. Only one has come back below the submitted grade. Others have been same or increased enough to make it worthwhile.
  4. Jealous you got to meet Bellman. I discovered him about a year before he passed and was able to get a couple of commissions from him. Wanted to meet him in person and get a pic but unfortunately wasn't able to. Extremely nice and we even talked on the phone a couple of times while he was doing the commission. Growing up in San Diego and going to the Con in late 70's up to early 90's, I look back at some of the attendees who were there that I missed and am happy for those I met, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and others but can't lament those I missed. Back in the swing of cons now, I try to get the sig and selfie if they are open to it.
  5. I really hope that Marvel doesn't go this female Thing route. Yes, I appreciate the diversity the Marvel has in comics but this is getting to pandering territory.
  6. I was an avid X-Men collector in the 80's but only kept up to 143 (End of Byrne) and then a few keys after that.
  7. Sounds like it can be good casting but it is the Fantastic Four and he's just one of the team. Let's see how it all goes.
  8. I've always stayed same or come out ahead in pressing except one time. It's more than paid for itself in value increase. I'll always do for Sig Series submissions but as others have said, not for those that won't benefit for other submissions.
  9. Interesting. I've never received grader notes on 9.8's.
  10. Great article about a great man. Thanks for posting.
  11. I think it varies by seller. Some are fast to send a combined shipping invoice if they list in the description it's something they do.
  12. Good to see there's other comic sniffers out there!
  13. Good to see. Hopefully a focus on quality over quantity but a business decision is most likely behind it.
  14. While haven't been fully into the appeal of Funko, I do have a couple. We live close to Everett HQ in WA state and have been there a couple of times. If it's a one time dump, business decision and may learn from it. Those who collect and enjoy Funko - Keep on!
  15. Pretty much what's been stated. For modern, my target is 9.8 and love when I get them as most were purchased from the LCS in my collecting days. If I do buy something now, I try to get 9.8s. Again for modern. Don't aspire to have any of my Copper, Silver in 9.8 but happy when they get a good grade.
