Looks great! The interior creases in the last pic just look like production creasing, no effect on grade. 6.5/7.0 range.
-
Hmm, tough one. Looks like a nice VGish copy, but the interior chunks and tears will drop the grade a bit more. Hard to tell exactly what's up there, but I'd guess 3.0 give or take to encompass all that.

5.0
Nice! When you first started here you would have called this a 7.5. You're getting closer and that's a lot to be proud of.

Thank you for confirming to me that I am not TOTALLY CRAZY for being upset the well known dealer sold me this stating it was a 5.0 (and not disclosing any of the defects).
A 5.0 is bananas. I’m not seeing 5.0 even without the huge gash. Ugh! Sorry you have to deal with this. If you can I’d return it in a hurry.

Yeah, the blues look really washed-out on that Hulk #181. I'd hold out for a better counterfeit.

Right? I'm crafting an absolutely incredible comment, it's like 12 full screens of text. Should be ready next Thursday.

I have the feeling that the golden age books are the real comics who could be legit in terms of investment, for the popular characters, even the most random issues in bad condition never spawn on the market for less than 100$... other point, when we re going trough golden age you do not find anymore bundle of books, all of them are always sold individually because too valuable.
What is your opinion? Do you have hope in later stuff or have you the same opinion than me?
Thanks for your opinion.
Yes, golden age books are rarer, and sure, the ones everyone wants (superhero, precode horror, 'good girl art'/romance and so forth) have increased exponentially in value.
I just think they are fascinating and cool. Flipping through them is like time travel, a portal into another world. And the range of art styles is amazing.
Honestly, this is a hobby, try to have fun with it and don't get too hung up on values. Collect what you love.

I'll drop a terribly unpopular opinion here. Schomburg is *incredibly* overrated. The ridiculous Timely war scene covers the fanboys fawn over? Sure they're busy and detailed but artful? I much prefer the simple and classic composition of some of his Astrology covers or some of his covers for Pines.
You could be skinned alive for saying that over in GA. Best to get it out of your system right here.

Nice copy she is a ten in the witch department
It's such an awesome cover. I know it's a fairly common book and feels a bit overexposed lately, but I fell in love with the color strike on this copy and went for it.

Not for July yet. I'm sure some regulars will be on vacation, so folks on the wait list will be filling in.
A June list would be fine for now, if possible. Just trying to get a sense of how many golden age or pulp vendors might participate.

Pulp collecting is still very new to many. Many of these “classic cover” CGC label notes are far too soon. Doesn’t there have to be a public concensus to have these designated as such? Yes, there already is on a number of them. But is every “cool” cover a “classic”?
Then again this designation is very personal and varies from collector to collector. Personally, I don’t consider either of the two previously shown Planets on this page “classic”. Great covers but not ground breaking or any more special than many others in the run. We all have our favorites and everyone’s are different.
I'd be down with a "Cool cover!" label note.

EBAY collects sales tax based on destination not origin of sale, so you are being charged your combined state and local sales tax rate. Unless you have a resale certificate on file with ebay from your state of residence (as many dealers do) I'm not sure why they would have stopped collecting sales tax. They also only do this for sellers with managed payments (which is nearly everyone on ebay). If you are paying a seller via some other method then ebay won't collect sales tax. Over the years I've had a couple buyers contact me to be paid directly, perhaps in order to dodge sales tax. Ebay still charges me the the final value fee on the sale, but does not collect sales tax in such situations.
Cool, thanks for weighing in. No, I certainly don't have a resale certificate, and I pay through ebay the same way I've done for years (decades!). I guess for now it will stay a mystery.

Sales tax is tacked on depending on the state you buy the item from (ie: a purchase from a seller in California will have California sales tax added to the final charges, etc)
What you're saying makes sense but this has not been my experience.
A few years ago, ebay started charging me tax on every purchase, **regardless of the seller's state.** I'm not sure if it's "a New York thing" (like ebay has an office here or something), or if this has happened to everyone across the board, or if it literally has only happened to me (jeez).
I went back into my Purchase History just now. As examples, here are screenshots of Order Details from purchases I made in December and February. I live in New York... the first seller is in FL, the second is in PA...
So regardless of what state they're located in, I was getting charged tax.
Sometime in April... with no explanation or fanfare... this just stopped happening, and it's been a surprising and substantial savings for me. No tax of any kind on the ebay purchases I've made since then.
@rjpb, you're still a hardcore ebayer, yes? Any idea on this?

I hesitate to post as a jinx and other frivolity, but New York has never charged me sales tax, and idk why? So I'm not sure if it is the question that isn't concise, or I just don't know? Dave and Adams and High Grade Comics, have literally never charged me sales tax or pretty sure..... so idk
Does ebay add your state's sales tax to your purchases?

I've noticed on ebay wins in the last few weeks that NY sales tax is no longer being added. This is a huge savings assuming it sticks.
Are you guys seeing the same thing? And at the risk of jinxing it, does anyone know the reason for the change?
No one else is seeing this change in the last few weeks?

Wartime Romances #8 is a great choice... great cover. I feel like a few years back it had some super strong sales and seemed to be pulling away, but more copies have popped up and it's stayed on the right side of affordable.
