  1. Kudos to dmgscr for a NYC in-person pickup & purchase of my CDNP #36! Very easy transaction, and a great guy to chat GA with. Many thanks, Douglas, enjoy the book!
  2. I was wondering the same thing, Scrooge! The NW Mounties on the left seems to have a pence mark in the LLC, no? Maybe there were two different printings, and the second printing had to be redrawn/swiped because they didn't have access to the original art for some reason? I'd like to see closeups of those.
  3. ...or Shock Suspenstories #12! Always wanted a nice copy of that one.
  4. Very cool that you have the Church copy, Timulty. With the book in hand, is it obvious why people sell their souls to own one (in terms of freshness, gloss, color strike etc), or does it look like your basic very-high-grade copy?
  5. Wow! Amazing stuff, Scrooge (and everyone else who posted, too many to name)! Great, now I'm not just jealous of everyone's collection... I'm also jealous of everyone's display shelving.
  6. That run of Peps is just unreal, 143ksk. Beautiful lineup. Can't even imagine the time & money that went into tracking those down!
  7. Geez, I so agree! I can't fathom how you guys can resist opening slabs of 3.0 or 4.0 GA books, unless you intend to resell them. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, wondering what was inside my books!
  8. Near Mint, I can't even look at those pics of yours. I feel like I'm cheating on my own sorry Action & Superman collection.
  9. ft88 & adamstrange: amazing pics! Congrats on those runs!
  10. I don't have group photos, but I'd really like to! I'll try to remedy that. My GA collection has a bit more breadth...I would probably need to do one photo each for DC, Fox, MLJ, Schomburg covers & LB Cole covers...but the average grade of my GA collection is much lower than yours, with almost none of my pre-'45 books grading out to 4.0 or better. As with Near Mint's collection, I'm very impressed with both the eye appeal and the technical grades of the books you're posting. Great stuff!
  11. Words fail me. Beautiful collection of books, friend!!
  12. Great pickup, friend. Are you thinking of having the spine sealed, or will you leave it?
  13. Kudos to Nikos for some sweet BA Detectives! Expertly packed and quickly shipped. Not my last order with him I'm sure... Many thanks, Nik! --Jon
  14. Yep, what he said! Never seen that one before, and I thought I'd seen every EC. Cool cover, beautiful colors. I love the abstraction of the red/black city in the background. Congrats, Gozer!
  15. Congrats again on that run. (Maybe a silly question, but any special reason why your goal wasn't #11-20? ...you just like the cover of #10?) Even 1/3 is pretty impressive. I have a few myself, but all below VG. Are there any that are particularly tough to find? For real. I'm always fighting off temptation on those Marvel Mysterys! Still haven't given up hope on a decent copy of #40 or #44 someday...
  16. NearMint, I'm envious of you being able to play in those waters! As I mentioned awhile back, I'm looking to get some of the early Superman books myself...would ideally like a #3-#11 run as well as a couple of the #12-#20 issues...but it will certainly be a slow process given my budget (it's rare for me to drop more than $200 on a single book, so I'll need to choose my purchases pretty carefully). Do you have any collecting goals these days as far as Supermans & Nedors, or do you just wait for certain high-grade books to catch your eye?
  17. In other GA Superman news, looks like the guy who won NeatStuff's Superman #11 for $415 last week is hoping for a VERY quick flip... http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPERMAN-11-GOLDEN-A...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Oops, that was me. Finger slipped. But seriously, it's a shame about the reddish stains on that one, as it really brings down the eye appeal on this otherwise pretty book. That is one eye-popping price for a book with that defect to have reached, even as rare as it is. Wonder if the new owner plans to have it cleaned?
  19. Hey AllTop8Me, just saw the additional wording in your revised Suspense #9 auction: "As some people have noted on the CGC boards with regard to my auctions, when you look at the full Suspense run you're really floored by how many of the covers are quite amazing. "
  20. Re the 21: yep, what he said! I have an Action #19...it looks terrific from the front with bold color & gloss, but no back cover & the front cover is detached. Are you guys counting books below 2.0? Either way, will try to scan & post it at some point.
