  1. While working on updating my list of Non-NEC publication appearances of the Tick I found this. It's from the July 1995 issue of Dream Team by Malibu Comics. Looks like it was draw by Ben Edlund himself in 1995! Tick in a double thumb war with Hulk and Prime. It made me laugh quite a bit.
  2. I have this... but didn't know there were any variant covers for it. Yet another mystery of Tick collecting is revealed. Vic, do you have any pics of the variants?
  3. Hi Vic, What is Invincible 111? I looked it up and didn't see Tick on the cover. Is he on an inside page? Also what about The Astounding Wolfman Vs Invincible? Hi IntoAnother - Great News! Thanks for sharing that!
  4. I just received the last comic I needed to complete my collection of Ben Edlund original comics: Tick No. 2, 8th printing! Now I have a complete set of all issues and all printings (including ashcans) from the original 1988 Ben Edlund series. Still hunting down some of the Comic Con issues I missed from 2007, 2014 and 2015. (anyone have any for sale or trade? - the issues I need are one the home page of tickcomics.com) On another note I just discovered the "Do you Pooh?" covers. They crack me up. I sit and look at them online and laugh out loud while my wife (who likes Winnie the Pooh) looks at them and says, "Those are stupid. I don't get why you think they're so funny". But then she doesn't get most of the jokes or spoofs so I guess I can see why it might not be as funny to her. But a deadpool pooh or venom tigger - that makes me laugh. I'm not going to collect them or anything. It's enough to collect the tick. Bit I'll be keeping my eye out for those at comic cons now.
  5. I really like the Tick vs Venom illustration. I don't recall seeing the bread head guy before... but then there's been a lot to read.
  6. I'm just noticing this now but am I correct that the yellow is not colored is but that the paper is cut away to show a yellow piece of paper that has been glued to the back?
  7. Funny... I just got this in the mail. I ordered it a while ago. I'm trying to add the TPB to my Tick site. The cover for the Paul Bonanza is the image you just shared - only flipped horizontally. I think it funny because they didn't even fix Ben's signature so it's backwards. Or maybe this version of the cover was drawn by some guy named 88DNULDE.
  8. Those are both really cool! Thanks for sharing! I was only collecting just the comics until this past summer. I'm probably coming too late in the game for original Edlund artwork... especially in color! I'll just collect vicariously through your collections. ;-)
  9. I think my wife is about to slow down my tick purchases. It's okay - she was pretty generous with what I was allowed to purchase over the summer. It would be an interesting "conversation" if an original Edlund cover were to show up for sale. I would have to sell some model trains for sure. ;-)
  10. Days of Drama #6. The original cover is it's own piece of artwork. The variant "naughty" cover is just an overlay. I just noticed... it looks like they forgot to retrace the eyes on the blonde to the right of Tick. This artwork arrived yesterday. It's my first Tick cover art.
  11. I did not photoshop anything out. But it is an overlay to make a modified version of the original piece of artwork.
  12. My turn for a quiz... It shouldn't be too hard but do you know what this is?
  13. @Vic and @kpaqu1 - Thanks for letting me know my purchase is legit. :-)
  14. I don't have any cover art yet. That looks like issue #1 page #1 but that doesn't look like Ben Edlund's signature at the bottom.
  15. So... I purchased this "original" Tick art off eBay a while ago. It just arrived. It's not on art board, it's on paper that is thin like copy paper... but it does look like it was used as the pencil and inking paper. (you can see the indents on the pack of the paper where the pencil had been pushed against the paper). As I don't have any other artwork like this I am wondering if it is real or a copy? I didn't pay much for it so I'm not worried if it's a copy. I'm just not sure how to label it for my collection. Any advice?
  16. I believe it's 11 x 17. It's still in the mail. I was just sent a digital copy of the picture to hold me over until the original art arrives. I was so excited to find that Billy was able/willing to take on the work that I didn't ask many questions.
  17. A piece of commissioned Tick artwork by Billy Tucci. I'll post the colorized version of the image once I get it. (I like model trains and Mickey Mouse as well as The Tick... that's why those other items are in the picture)
  18. I would love to see the swag from the NYCC. I was not able to attend. Here is the cover of the RI comic Con 2017 issue
  19. This just came out recently. It's only available from NEC. don't miss it!
  20. Vic - Um... you have WAY WAY WAY more slammers than me. And I checked out your flicker... more tick toys than me, too. Because of the "sparkle" it's a little hard to tell what you have so here are my extras (sorry the list is small) Copper - Tick (keen) Blue - Tick (keen), and Human Bullet Green - Tick (keen), Human Bullet, Dean, and Crusading Chameleon I guess back then I didn't have the $4/pack to try and collect all the slammers. I think you said you have all these but if you need any let me know and I'll send them to you.
  21. Hey Vic, I found my stash of POGS. I have a complete set of the POGS and some extras (if you need any let me know). I do not have a complete set of the slammers - but I do have some duplicates of what I have - maybe I can help you fill in a few holes in your collection. Let me know what you need and I'll check my pile. (the "collection" is in pages, the extras are all just thrown in a bag together)
  22. I do like the Chainsaw Vigilante but I didn't know there were variant covers when it came out so I only have the silver one. Would be neat to have the other 3 but at an approximate release of 50 each that probably won't ever happen. And I also did have a bunch of the pogs. I used to be a manager of a toy store back in the late 80's early 90's so I could "sort" the toys or action figures out before putting them on the store shelf... or hide them for a purchase at the end of the day when I was off shift. :-)
  23. I grew up in Quincy, MA and in 1988 (when I was 21) I was the manager of a toy store just down the block from a New England Comics. So I've been collecting them since they first came out but I was more of a casual collector - I just wanted one of each issue and didn't care variant covers. I didn't realize there were so many variant covers, or printings and now I am trying to play catch up. I'm down to needing less than a dozen but it seems it seems they're becoming more and more scarce. I've even noticed a drastic price hike on the higher graded comics since the Tick hit Amazon with the new show.
