The thread would still exist, the PL would just be more of a formality. I forget where, but I thought at one point transactions that occurred outside the boards still qualified for the PL, but I can't seem to find that verbiage in the PL Discussion Thread.

The guy had a heart attack. I try to be neutral and sympathetic in such situations. Or at least give the benefit of the doubt. But his ensuing commentary and inaction just kinda throws all that out the door. I'm wondering, at what point does this qualify for the Probation List? Or is the PL off the table since the seller has shown they are working on books? Albeit...EXTREMELY slowly.

For what it's worth, I was going to delete the personal information and only wanted to highlight just how unprofessional it was for him to be revealing such details that were provided in confidence as part of a business transaction. Otherwise my original point from my deleted comment still remains: In the history of the boards in which someone has so egregiously wronged other parties to the tune of thousands of dollars, it has NEVER been a good look to say something for a laugh at the expense of boardies who are out book, money, and time. NEVER. Honestly, I'm sympathetic to the health concerns, but your (Hero's) inability to accept blame, and the overall handling of the situation and ensuing comments here has been completely unprofessional.

Remind me again why we call him Jack "The King" Kirby? Not like that has anything to do with the recognition we, as fans, attribute to him for his hand in creating many of the characters we still enjoy today right? I mean, surely couldn't be. I'll say this. At Disney's California Adventure, there's a plaque in Avengers Campus acknowledging Stan's contribution to Marvel. I do wish they would add a Jack Kirby plaque alongside it. In 2017, Stan Lee was inducted as a "Disney Legend", an award they give out to about 8 people for their contributions to the Walt Disney Company at every D23Expo (which is held every other year). You know who else was inducted in 2017? Jack Kirby.

If the label isn't purple with lavender rain drops, then CGC has absolutely failed as a company.

I don't bid on OA that much so take what I have to say with a heavy dose of salt. With that out of the way, I've participated in open auctions (for comic books) where my bid is known to the rest of the potential bidding pool. I'll have a rough idea of what I believe market to be and so sometimes I'll just throw down the hammer and bid just below market such that the auction price will jump from $1 to $1000 as opposed to the steady increase of prices that we all know are likely to be outbid. I think some bidders have a "in for a penny, in for a pound" mentality and so if you creep up in $25/$100/$1000 (whatever) increments, people just think "what's another $25?" or they become more stubborn in wanting to win a particular piece. So by skipping the small talk "so to speak", I'm hoping to weed out buyers that might otherwise have a competitive bidding mindset. Obviously the serious bidders will up the amount, but I'd rather reduce the pool of bidders right out the gate. Obviously, this doesn't apply in silent auctions where the auction price increases incrementally based on everyone's maximum bids. That all being said, if you all could just ignore the lots that i'm interested in, that'd be greatly appreciated. :P

I miss Wizard and I'm baffled that a publishing company or pop culture news site hasn't bought up the rights to Wizard and re-launched it. It'd just basically be like CBR.com, but I'd think the Wizard name would still carry a lot of goodwill with it.

I'm a fan of the parks. Rise of the Resistance is a brilliant attraction. You're the first person I've heard levy criticism towards the ride story/characters. Conversely, I've spoken with friends who take their kids to Disneyland and don't care about Star Wars and are blown away by it. Maybe it would have resonated with the older generation more seeing familiar faces that the entire fan base cares about, but the ride is so good it makes a lot of people forget about such things. Starcruiser was doomed to fail from the start given the price of a stay and not to mention I'm just not sure how many guests are interested in LARPing. That all said, I imagine the franchise made back the $4B years ago. Galaxy's Edge increased park capacity at both parks. On top of that, there's merch sales. Just think about all the booked reservations at the Droid Depot and Lightsaber building experience. Or all the $250 legacy sabers that are sold. The problem for them currently is Fox, ESPN, and Disney+.

That sounds more like a speculator than a collector. I'm reaching a point, and perhaps it's space constraints, where I'm increasingly thinking of stopping collecting because the quality of content isn't captivating. I can understand why people collect omni's/tpb's because you can wait to see if a run is critically acclaimed before buying/reading it. I'm starting to think it's cheaper to wait to buy floppies after the fact than to subscribe to a dozen series each month and hoping one of them turns out to be good.

I'm guessing between the business and health care, they're probably already in the red and can't afford to refund customers AND cover shipping. The problem with sending out an email at this point is it sounds like they've lied to customers enough times that I imagine there are some customers who believe everything to be another lie. Much like "the boy who cried wolf", this is more like "the presser who said it was getting packaged." If it wasn't actually being packaged in the past, why should a customer believe that they're being genuine now about sending books back. Despite that, this seems like a genuine case of someone just running into a string of bad luck and the recent health problems are the top priority. It's an unfortunate set of circumstances and I agree that laying it all out for customers is the way to go. I'd like to think people could be empathetic and understand that progress is going to slow down as a result. Maybe assign numbers for every open order, tell customers what number their order is, and then send out an email every month saying you're currently working on order number XX so that way everyone has an idea of how much longer it will take before their books are finished.

It's a little sus that the book released in July 2018 and Stan passed in December 2018. It's possible Stan signed the book in those 5 months. That's a fairly legible Stan signature for that time of his life. But I'm more inclined to believe that CGC messed up and instead of assigning a yellow/green label, somehow completely overlooked Stan's signature. The thing I hate is that book got past the grader and quality control (though that assumes there's a QC department to begin with) without anyone notifying the slabbing department.

On desktop, it seems to remember for quite a while. I've returned to old posts where apparently I started writing a comment and never submitted, only for that to still be there the next time I clicked on the topic. I'm talking months. Phone is a different story. I couldn't imagine navigating this site on a small screen like that.

The clock for turnaround times doesn't start until the books are entered into the system. There are two types of "received" at CGC. One is the type where you ship a book and USPS/FedEx drops it off. Your package is held, unopened and waiting to be entered in the system. In the past, this would create a lot of consternation amongst customers as there was a HUGE gap between when the tracking numbers would show as delivered versus when CGC actually entered your books in the system. As a result, CGC created a package delivery tracker of their own that simply indicates the box was received at their facility. The second type of "received" (and the more important one) is when your books are actually entered into the system. Like I said, this is when your estimated time starts counting. I currently see it's 30 business days for new submissions. We're currently on day 29, nevermind that it's an estimate and could take longer. As for why it took them an extra month to enter your Silver Age books, I have no idea. You'd think it'd all get put in on the same day. Con season screws up a lot of stuff. It's possible they simply entered all moderns from the con first and then went back and entered the rest later. No one knows. The key to CGC submissions is patience. You just need to acknowledge that your books are going to be out of your hands for a long time.

We really need to normalize big price stickers. I'm old and my eyes aren't what they used to be. I hate having to lean over boxes, squint at some number in a circle, and then give up and ask "how much is that?". And then repeating for maybe 3 or 4 other books and then potentially walking away because the price was higher than what I'm looking for. Also, am I just really out of touch with prices? $120 for Spider-Gwen #24? First Gwenom? Con prices feel outrageous at times.

Any chance a few of these pinned Private Signing threads can be unpinned as the submission deadlines have long passed and (I think) the signings have been completed? Just to tidy up the boards.

You have to email CGC and request a creator form. You (the creator) submit the books to CGC along with the signed creator and submission forms.
