  1. That's a knockout! I've got room, should it ever need a new home!!!!
  2. I'm INTERESTED! Thanks for the percentage breakdown. It certainly shows that the Atomic Age, like the Bronze age, was an age of diversity of genres and material. Why don't you change the name of the thread to the March 1952 thread? That way folks that have comics from that month can posts scans to a "virtual" collection. I'll look and see if I can't find something to contribute. Good luck with the quest. It's very cool to imagine all those books on a newstand -- and how tempting they would be to the kids back then.
  3. It's funny, but I DID laugh when I first read about Dennis's mother in the tub instead of the dad. Having the dad with the implied nakedness is risque enough for a kids' 1950s comic, and the idea of the mom... I'm glad you're enjoying the thread and hope you like it as much as I'm enjoying your 10 centers! Joe I am thrilled with the thread. My last Dennis joke -- I promise! Dennis -- as an adult
  4. I'd love to hear the story on this! Any Dennis info you have, PLEASE SHARE -- that's what this thread is about: ANYTHING DENNIS! Joe That was a "wink" character. I was joking -- I didn't mean for you to take me seriously. Keep up with the posting! The graduated colors are on the #7 are wonderful -- that B. copy is white enough to see even the very lightest of shades.
  5. I heard that the interior stories were a lot of fun on these early issues. Your thoughts? Any favorites?
  6. They named a comic character after me! Nice book!
  7. No interest You are doing GREAT! I am totally geeking out! Love the bathtub scence on #5, but did you know that it was originally drawn with Dennis's Mom?
  8. Superman 144 = Classic! Nice books. Who else can contribute some scans to the thread?
  9. if you wonder what a later DC Mile High, , Church copy looks like
  10. Thanks for posting! The green on that 2 is awesome. More! More! More! We're waiting for the rest of the show!
  11. I wouldn't worry about that since that was determined over ten years ago. Plus, the way they were ranked would not necessarily be the way CGC ranked them. Think of it this way. Even the 1/12 could have some very minor damage done to it over the past decaded and easily keep it out of the 9.8-10.0 range. That said, remember that that CGC does it's best to grade a book, but it's not a scientific truth that a 9.8 is better than a 9.6. Overstreet had to grade/rank 3500 books in a couple days (cue sympathetic violin music). He didn't have time to do that detailed of an analysis and couldn't even always stop to look at the back cover (i asked him about this). i think anyone would go numb at some point while trying to judge so many nearly perfect books.
  12. There's a mysterious 30's suave pulpy feel that cover. Killer book.
  13. What's really scary is that there are 2 other copies that are graded 9.8!!!!! And 2 copies at 9.6!!! Even worse, my copy was ranked 4/12 which means either one copy has not yet been graded or it was graded lower for some reason. Only ranked #4 -- what are you doing -- slumming! That is one seriously fine looking book. Congratulations!
  14. Just went through this thread. Adam, your books here are even more amazing than what you've been putting in the 10-cent thread. As long as I make someone jealous of something every day, I can go to bed happy.
  15. i thought Centaurs were "pre-cursors"! leave it to Jon to go one step deeper than everyone else.
  16. the original challenge to me was 10 cent DCs. but other books, like this one, are posted on other threads .
