  1. Thanks Sqeggs! Ok, this thread dropped to page 3 which means I'm slacking. However since it's Christmas-time I thought I'd fill in a few holes... Holiday Comics No.6 - Some spine splits, but presents well. Holiday Comics No.8 - One more Cole x-mas cover! Fun Comics No.12 - The last one of this run I needed. Not that common.
  2. EXCELLENT BOOKS! I love that Planet #34 cover!
  3. Great covers on those Cole comics but is the interior story original? As far as I know it is, but it hasn't arrived yet. Your copy looks great! Much better cut than mine. That's the only other copy I've ever seen! I have all of those others though. Great Film Stars #1! I caved and bought the one on Metropolis a few months ago. It came as advertised, even if it was a bit musty. Your Speed #43 is stellar, BTW! Love the rainbow robot of death!
  4. I saw your post so I just went to see the results: Strange Tales #110 (Marvel, 1963) CGC FN- 5.5 Off-white to white pages: $1,553.50 Strange Tales #110 (Marvel, 1963) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Cream to off-white pages: $3,079.52
  5. Not the biggest book out there but I've been searching for this one for a long time and finally snagged it yesterday. No was I was going to miss this after letting a few Catman books sliip through my fingers! This is the only copy I've seen anywhere so I'm glad to have it on it's way! (pic is from seller's ebay listing, hence the panel shot too)

  7. I was leaning towards Jax too. Houston is last in the power rankings at the moment and are a MESS. But at least if I lose now I can blame someone. j/k And yeah! Was that you Gator? Jaybuck43 - did you hear him too?
  8. Hey Gator! Are you a baseball fan? I was listening to MLB on XM this morning on the way to work and heard "Gator from Florida" call in and wondered if it was you! Also, who would you take (no spread) this Thursday night - Houston @ Jacksonville??? I'm torn and have to pick!
  9. Back in this thread about 90 pages ago, I had been attempting to cataolg all of LB Cole's covers. At last count I was at about 425 I think, and 95% or more were in the GA. If I had to guess who had more Schomburg was my 1st guess to top him. Did Kirby have more in the GA? Overall I'm sure he did, but GA alone how many did he have?
  10. I know! I have Holiday Comics #1 (Santa cover) and a killer copy of Fun Comics #9 (oversized book, Santa cover) already up on display. I hope this new purchase shows up soon! Brenmark: That is a cool LB Cole cover, but I'm holding out for a copy of the Star printing that has the red / blue / yellow cover instead of the AP pink one. EDIT: Oh - Frisky Animals #52 is another cool one!
  11. No, and you likely won't get any for a while. We've got Cap, GotG, and Ant-Man in there somewhere that will be coming out first and then (I think) we'll get Avengers 3 the following year. This flick won't be until after that so that's a loooooooooooong ways off. We're just getting Avengers casting news this week.
  12. I got this one over on the LB Cole thread. It's an unused cover for Suspense Comics #8 I think:
  13. This looks good in black and white as well as color! It was used to cover the Marvel Comics Index Magazine back in the 80's:
  14. $39,000 and counting.. Final bid: $44,812.50!
  15. Fantastic Ann #1! I'm happy to own a 7.0, but this copy is killer!
  16. Awesome! And pedigree books to boot! Anytime the suction-cups Beetle is involved it's a good thing.
  17. Excellent pickup! I think Cole's crime covers are a bit underrated. I just snagged this one:
  18. What grade was it at? What's the GPA on a lower grade to mid grade anyone? Is the book still rising? Yeah, so a boardie did end up with it and it is in hand as of this week. I had contacted CLink like I had with my other larger purchases and had all my questions answered. If you want to see pics of anything specific on the book or have any questions I would be happy to answer. I paid what could be considered a strong price but before and as this auction was going on, there were boardies offering another 6.0 book at the same price and a 5.5 for about $150 less. At NYCC, those that had this book at all were also looking for the same price at the same grade and most of those books had defects that were consistent with the grade (and Marvel chipping) but were not things that I was looking for in the book. My 6.0 (CLink) did not have any Marvel chipping or front cover folds. The top left corner was acceptable to me and the top edge shows some wrinkling that would probably smooth out with a press if I ever feel like rolling the dice on a CPR. The book was slabbed in 2008 and from the wrinkling I would guess it has not been pressed yet. The only annoyance I have is that the plastic bag that it was shipped in from CLink had a bunch of holes through from wear. Really? $2500 for a book and CLink couldn't throw on a fresh bag over the CGC case? It's the little things like a 'please' and 'thank you' sometimes. Looks great! Congrats on the pickup!
  19. Thanks! I think it's a pretty killer cover. You get Thor, Loki, Jane and the good Doc! It's possible he is more popular, but he's always been a fan of mine! No, sadly I have not yet tracked down an FF #27 which - you are correct - did come out a few months before. That issue was his actual 1st x-over. I was tracking a copy of that one last night too but it was in nicer shape that this comic and went for more than I wanted to spend. I'm still on the hunt though!
  20. That's a sharp ToA #93! I just got a FN ungraded copy and love it! Love the ToS #52. I'm kind of kicking myself for not hunting down and finishing off both of those runs years ago, but oh well... I just grabbed this from ComicConnect last night. Still hunting down a few random Doc Strange apps: FYI: I just looked it up and this issue came out the same month as Strange Tales #124.
  21. Awesome! I'd have liked puzzles a lot more as a kid if they looked like that! And a story about "hashish" to boot? Fantastic! Also, it's amazing how she can keep that knife in her stockings and not rip them.
  22. That DD flier is cool! I have a Lancer book, and a bunch of others too.
