  1. That might be the most ridiculous response I have ever read in my life. Just because there are websites that track comic sales, does not mean that the majority of collectors are buying comics as some sort of 'investment'. Most comic book collectors are not "in it for the money". Comic books happen to be worth money. It's not the same thing. I never said that "nobody cared about the value of comics". That's what we would call a straw-man argument. I am not wrong. "Brutally wrong", in fact, is a gross overreaction.
  2. You've convinced me to give up collecting comics. I hate everything now.
  3. That's the challenge. Without Thanos and the Infinity Stones, they have to find a way to keep us interested, and tell a new story (or stories) that truly connect each character cross-film.
  4. 100% true. I would not call Black Panther or Captain Marvel "A-list" heroes (yet). How well will a Black Panther sequel do without a Killmonger or Klaue? How well will a Captain Marvel sequel do without tie-in to an Avengers movie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Goose..? Their sequels will tell us whether or not they're on the way to that A-list status.
  5. Whoever asks the grade of comic must answer me these questions three, and the grade opinion he see...
  6. Short story that I expect no one to read: I went to a comic shop on Thor'sday before Endgame, because I had time after work, and before I was meeting up with someone. Turns out the shop I went to is a sister store (well, actually, the original) to the one my dad used to take me and my younger brother to when we were in middle school. I knew the name sounded familiar. I asked them if they were national. "No." I definitely heard the name before. Thought maybe I read them here or a local friend may have visited them. I just remembered the name from my 8-14 year old self going with my dad to the other one 50 miles away. My dad was always supportive of reading comics and watching cartoons, because that's what he did as a kid. My mom was supportive as well, encouraging us to read Garfield and Calvin & Hobbes. I know the 90's are definitely different times to the pre-Modern Ages. It's always good times when your parents let you have fun.
  7. That's pretty high. Probably because it's such a sexy cover.
  8. A lot of people forget that there was only a 1 in 14,000,605 chance that they beat Thanos 'for good'. That 1 chance was Iron Man sacrificing himself for the greater good. You may not like it, but it's a built-in reason for everything since Doctor Strange saw those outcomes.

  10. Good to see that MCS has a fair return policy if you're not a b-hole. I feel Dranzer for kinda siding with the OP at the beginning.
  11. Aaaaaand this is why Thanos sought the Infinity Stones...
  12. Most people get graded copies for nostalgia, preservation, appreciation, verification, etc. It gives us safety of actually "buying the book" because someone else has done a restoration check and evaluated its (estimated) condition. There are very few people that collect comic books "because of financial value".
  13. As a Spawn fan, since you mention this, is there a definitive list (i.e. 1-184) of Spawn issues with no variants?
  14. 4.0 as is IMO? Pressing will probably do a ton of good for this one and bring it into the 6.0+ range.
  15. Really glad if there isn't a solo Black Widow film.
  16. I'm pretty sure that Thor is at Infinity War power level and then some considering he's dual-wielding Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. Thanos didn't have his Uru Sword in Avengers 3. With the Gauntlet complete, he also underestimated how powerful Stormbreaker is. I think the Russo Bros. really wanted to showcase how powerful Thanos is without the Gauntlet in this one. I don't think they under-powered Thor at all (relative to previous films).
  17. Idc it's Action Comics #1000 to me. So close to #1000, I can't believe that someone thought of, and it was approved, to reboot and re-sequence... At #904, someone has to realize, "we're close to being the first 4-figure American comic". Poor choice.
