  1. It was a bit of a fluke I found it. To be honest it was about 2 years ago. The first one I found was not in the best shape, and that cardstock cover tends to highlight flaws. It took me about a year to find a NM example. Haven't been doing targeted searches for a while, but I have noticed a total of 6 on ebay in the last two years, including what is now @Cpt Kirk 's copy. I'll also point out that I was thinking the 'EN' on those stickers may be 'Eastern News', but the picture shown throws some cold water on that.
  2. The AOS 523 was a recent bulk auction. More than a little shocked I was the only bidder. No real condition issues, a couple of non-color breaking spine ticks. The Action 706 was a bulk BIN that I'd been watching for some time. Been working a ton of OT lately and just hit go, It included Act 718, MoS 53, 42 (Sticker). The pictures were fuzzy. The Act 706 has a good front cover (not great), the back cover is a different story. I don't think I've ever seen that much difference between a front a back spine. The others ended up being pretty beat up. The damage was not due to shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314439048593?nma=true&si=rb3MCzfZvC109xjtNcDP%2Bv3b4UQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  3. Here's a different article from the Everett Herald (Funko's hometown). Went to a mall 'comic book store' last year just because I was there and they pretty much only had Funko's. Largish store too. I always thought they were kind of neat, have a few myself (Bug's Bunny/Looney Tunes for the wife's collection and who could resist baby Groot). Never really thought of them as a collectable, or worth spending much more than MSRP on. https://www.heraldnet.com/news/dumpko-30m-worth-of-funko-pop-collectibles-destined-for-landfill/
  4. I've found mid-town comics to be a chore to find anything on. Doug's site is bad, the one time I bought from him I actually just sent him my list (that's mail-order tech there, but with e-mail!!!!). Mile High's issue is pricing. The site is antiquated, but you can at least find stuff.
  5. Recent finds. Less than 6 months from last newstand for the title!
  6. Sorry to hear that, here is my education from an issue in Oct/Nov, just in case it may help. In Oct/Nov I had three lower value comics arrive in the same week, but different days, each from different ebay sellers. All three showed delivered, but weren't here. The Postal phone number was 100% worthless and I got nowhere. I went into the local Post Office and spoke with the employee there, who was extremely helpful. Turns out the deliveries are handled through a neighboring town, and not through the Post Office literally a mile from my house. They are also working their people on mandatory 6/12 schedules (6 days a week, 12 hours a day). Also checking in with a local FB group there are people in my town getting mail deliveries once every 1-2 weeks (we're 10-ish miles north of downtown Seattle, somewhat typical established suburb type area). My mail is typically arriving anywhere from 6-9 PM daily. They were able to track where my packages were and I got them all. They had been delivered to the same house number about 1/2 mile away, each on different days, with printed and fully readable addresses.
  7. How about the League of Failed Backdoor Character Intro's from a Superman title? And NOW the characters you saw on the cover and wondered, 'who's that?', TOGETHER for the first time. None of them could hold a story by themselves, but together can they defeat Cauldron? The most 90's Super-Villian ever!!!!!!!!!!! Gangbuster as the human of the team, and general all purpose discount punching bag Random former Team Luthor Member as the disgruntled former oblivious henchman with a heart of gold, also every team needs someone in a techno suit. Agent Liberty as the government stamp of approval, and possibly also for tax assistance and discount car insurance Sinbad as the reluctant teen member of the group, for angst and stuff Alpha Centurion as the general 'super-guy' and alien in residence (also the best named of the bunch) Rampage as Hulk Smash! err Rampage Smash! (may be too good for this list, but I generally recall her as being written one note, but with potential [for a lawsuit if nothing else]) I kept it to characters who actually have appeared on a cover, apologies if any of these get into C list territory (or go the other way). A few have one-shots, all are largely forgotten (except Rampage). Each was in at least two story arcs (just two for Sinbad and Alpha Centurion if I recall correctly). Cauldron actually does have a second appearance, somewhat ruining the 'most 90's' label. Gangbuster and Agent Liberty had longish sub-plots at one point.
  8. I said it before, I'll say it again, needs a 'DCU'. I'll bet that won't even make a good foil hat.
  9. They had freebee NFT's a while back and I managed to snag one (for listed price even). Complete and total buyers remorse!!!
  10. I've had this since the 90's, I don't think there was any markup for the signature, but can't remember now. It's actually signed at the start of his story, which is not the first story in the book.
  11. Small pile I found on a recent trip, price stickers are on the bags.
  12. Thanks @Terry JSA that was just the kind of shop I was looking for. Well above average for floor area (at least compared to the Seattle area). Friendly staff, LOTS of dollar bins, well stocked regular bins, pricing felt about right. I ended up only having one evening to hunt, ended up hitting Captain's and Mr. K's used book store (VERY well stocked for a used book store). The highlight is here, not worth much, but it is a 1:25 that's been on my list for a while (I'm too cheap to pay for shipping on a single book in that price range). First time I've seen one in the wild (they had two!). Most of what I got ended up being modern newsstands (I'll post photo's in that thread, some were as new as 2016/2017!!!).
  13. Just found out I'm heading there on a trip later this month. No clue if I'll have a chance to look, but fingers crossed. https://www.comicshoplocator.com is giving all of 3 hits. Google is adding 1-2 more, and several used book stores. Unfortunately the nearest 2nd and Charles looks like its 120 miles away (too bad, I'm a West coaster and was always curious about that store). My focus is Crisis thru Flashpoint Superman (1987 - 2011). Nothing lights up my day more than finding that rare higher printing that only 2 dozen people care about and is generally worthless (low value + rare = a true hunt). Unfortunately that means sorting through A LOT of drek. If anyone's got any recommendations you're willing to pass on I'd really appreciate it!!
  14. Someone really missed the boat on this one... There's no 'DCU' logo!!!!!
  15. Thanks @Withering Wind That makes more sense now. I did try to find some info this morning, but was really just overjoyed to have something pop up that I could actually get a chance to attend for a change.
  16. Sorry if this comes across as a bit of a flame. Not in the best of moods right now. Just curious if anyone else fell for the Craigslist 'Super Hero Sighting Show' in Auburn Washington. It's since been taken down from Craigslist, but it was still up on my phone so I was able to grab a screenshot. Drove 35 miles to get there, and..... NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, no tables, no set up, not even any crowds. I got there at about 9:30, the mall was technically open, but most stores didn't open until 10:00. There were a couple of families walking out with disappointed looks, I can only assume. Someone really went all out typing that up, feeling like a class A-1 Sucker.
  17. I had forgotten that their site was actually good for a laugh now and again.
  18. The GL 55 does use a different sticker, it's square and a bit glossier, also a larger image. However the pixilation looks the same to me, you can look for yourself and double check me. Here's a new shot of GL 55 and a close up with a MoS 42 and Sup 104. I got the GL 55 in a 6 book ebay purchase in late 2020, the other 5 issues were: Tales of the Teen Titans 66, Batman & Robin Adventures 3 (DCU), Flash 101 (DCU), Sup 106 (DCU), Catwoman Ann 2 (DCU). I only paid $15.50 + S&H. The Sup 104 is definitely newstand under the sticker, MoS 42 appears direct, but I could be wrong (dark inside ad prevents the bright light trick), GL 55 is definitely newstand.
  19. Speaking of evidence..... Don't know the story on this one as it falls into my categories of 'nope' and 'I don't want to know'. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175307197035?hash=item28d11f8a6b:g:f3oAAOSwx3RfKbCO
  20. For the near term the market seems healthy. My concerns are for the longer term. I got into superhero comics when I was 10-11 in the late 1980's, transitioning from Disney and more traditional 'funny books' my parents used to grab for me at checkstands. I started reading Superman right at the start of what's now called 'the triangle era' and I was hooked! I doubt that is a very unique story on these boards. Comics today are a VERY different beast. Here's a UPC from a recent issue of Action Comics, with an Ages 13+ flag, not to mention the price. Also on certain issues it can be quite the feat just to acquire all the covers (not to mention nothing special is happening within those covers). As many have mentioned the interest with kids is very much there, but will the books today grab their interest (if their parents don't see the age flags first).
  21. According to DC Comics via their app.... Golden Age = 1938-1956 Silver Age = 1956-1971 Bronze Age = 1971-1986 Modern Age = 1986-2011 New 52 = 2011-2016 Rebirth = 2016+ Which is at least good for a laugh. As for the current state of things I dropped almost everything just over a year ago. A variant or 1:XX once or twice a year per issue is fun, several times a month is not. Also getting creative direction fatigue, and cross eyed over trying to keep track of crossovers.
  22. There is also a CPV. I was always fond of the Kryptonian architecture and general designs that originated in that book, through the early 2000's when they did yet another soft reboot. I've seen many copies of both covers in dollar bins and HPB over the years. 'In grade' is probably appropriate when talking about the value.
  23. I had something new happen to me as a buyer a week or two back. Curious if it's actually new, or just new to me. I won two auctions from the same seller, within minutes of each other. There was nothing in the listing about combined shipping, and I didn't ask in advance, so that's on me, and I have zero beef with the seller. After winning I drafted a quick message asking about combined shipping, (I was very specific to add that I'd pay either way). Ebay refused to send the message, saying that the seller had 'disallowed combined shipping'. I looked back through the listing (and the sellers other listings) and no mention about this at all. My beef here is that ebay knows there is no combined shipping, but is not telling you. I'm only out $5.XX, so not going to spend much time on it, but this could lead to bad things on other listings.
