  1. Admittedly low post count here. Tried to replay to a thread earlier this week and it disappeared after I hit post. A couple of days later I tried to react to a post and that didn't work either. Using Firefox on a Windows 10 desktop (home-built).
  2. Repeat from a few months back, but since we're on the topic of stickers..... Here's a newsstand with a direct sticker. Also the newest one of these I've ever seen.
  3. recalling more now, and the site won't let me edit. I've heard these called DC tombstones, I always thought due to the cover to AoS 444 (I believe that is the regular direct cover for that issue). Also willing to bet this was the stock UPC symbol for the box for a certain date range, regardless of printing. The ones I mentioned above were available in 3-packs. The 'scarcity' may be more of an indexing issue as most sites don't list any printings for 2 or more of those 6. (didn't help that the first time I found them the ebay seller destroyed them by packaging them loose in a manila envelope, arrived coverless)
  4. Superman collector here. Off hand I know this was the direct edition 1st print of a number of books, but also the higher printing indicator on a few books too. The higher printings I recall off-hand are; Superman(1987): 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25 (2nd and 3rd printings on all 6) I recall those issues in particular as I had a devil of a time finding the 2nd prints, they fall into that lovely hole of very rare and completely worthless. The 3rd printings seem to be about as common as the 1st prints (which have a different logo).
  5. If I remember this correctly. Innovation was doing a longer storyline that would essentially close out the original TV series. Bankruptcy got in the way of that somewhere in the middle. This TPB included the original published books, and I think also reunited Bill Mumy and the artist to finish it off. Low print run, and never republished. Be interesting to see what happens to the price if it's ever republished. I don't think this is even available for download (at least not legally).
  6. Thanks! That issue was a prelude to 'Day of the Krypton Man'. The early Eradicator stories are a personal favorite of mine.
  7. They arrived well packaged. One other bidder and I didn't bid that high, more than a little surprised myself. The JLA 70 4th on the first image should have attracted some looks.
  8. Prices do vary wildly based on the first image. Item #333951440428 if the link isn't working. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333951440428?nma=true&si=%2BNwIPHuemCa3AB0xrq2Q5d%2Bf2xI%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  9. In 2010 I got a 150 issue lot of Detective Comics for $39.00. The issues were between #370 - 638. The guy asked me if I wanted a bunch of 'ragged out' issues he was otherwise going to throw away, those include a low grade #411 (1st Talia Al Ghul). Most of the issues below #500 were low grade they got better as they got newer. He had put 'BEST ON EBAY, LOOKIE HERE!' in the item description. Back in September I stumbled across a poorly listed 16 issue Superman lot, which I got for $50 + $15 SH, which included 11 high grade DCU's, including; Action 684 (3rd), 686 (2nd), Adv 498 (4th), Sup (1987) 74 (4th), 77 (3rd), MoS 19 (3rd), JLA 69 (4th), 70 (4th), Doomsday Hunter Prey 1-3.
  10. Here's an oddball find from a few months back. A newstand UPC is actually printed on the cover, but it's not very photogenic, need the right light and angle to make it out even in person. The sticker is for the direct market, and even has the correct 5 digit for the issue!!!!

    $5.99?

The message is actually pretty clear; $5.99 * 12 = $71.88 for one issue for one year DCU Infinite = $74.99 for one year, with all new issues 6 months after release No clue what the business case looks like, but they may be itching to drop printing, shipping, distributor's cut, retailers cut, etc. which is currently all worked into the price.
  12. Just checked all the DVD copies I had handy (about 5 or 6). My copy of that cover listed as #7, is #7, in the incidecia and per the Rampage story. All my others were Man of Steel #1 on the inside. Only other thing to report is that one of the MoS #1's was a double cover! Just looking at the listings on Atomic Ave, they are missing a few of the 19-21 and 23-25 2nd and 3rd prints, wIth one cover image missing. I remember those, as the 2nd prints were dastardly to find.
  13. Excuse the cover swipe. I guess 'Chaos' is spelled wrong, must have missed it by that much.
  14. If I'm recalling this correctly 'The Ghost Busters' was a short lived live action show from the 70's (before my time, I've only read of it). The movie actually had to pay to use the name. When it came time for the cartoon, Filmation had a cartoon reboot of the live action show (the one that had an ape as one of the main characters). So the 'Real' was added to the cartoon probably as the name was already being used, or they didn't want to pay for it, or something like that. There's probably a better explanation than what I'm giving out on the net somewhere. Thanks for bringing this up, I'd almost forgotten that I had a full run of this series. I do recall at least the first half of the run being good, but I have to admit that I was in the target age group when last I read it. I'll see back issues here and there, but not often. I think the last issue was actually an Annual dated 1992, looks like #28 was 1991 (that's my only back issue pick up, the rest of mine are original owner). Looking on comicbookrealm, they are listing a 4 issue vol 2 from 1992, also from Now Comics, which is news to me. I'm also curious about the UK versions, there seem to be A LOT more issues. Does Comichron track newstands? My copies are all newstands, and given that I purchased them in rural Alaska, they can't be super rare (at least in general, in condition is a different animal).
  15. I believe John Bryne's Man of Steel #1 (1986) was the first intentional variant cover (as in more than just a Whitman logo or a other small difference for higher printings). Agreed that it didn't really take off until the 90's. Became common in 00's, more so with the smaller publishers at first then DC at least later in the decade if I recall correctly.
  16. My $0.02, my mind can be changed as I am only in it for $0.02. There is wisdom in just using decades from here on out (if for no other reason than to not fall into this mess again...). I'm a DC guy, and therefore have little idea what goes on in the MCU. I know there are plenty from the flip side of the coin. 1992-2000 'Chromium Age' (not my idea, it is catchy though) 2000-2010 'Paper Age', back to basics focus on stories, fewer gimmicks, ie what goes on the paper 2010-2020 'Mylar Age', focus changes to what goes on the cover (and multiples there-of), which supposedly looks good slabbed in Mylar 2020-2030, unwritten, but I suspect 'Digital Age 1.0' for reasons I shouldn't need to explain
  17. I hadn't heard of the site until stumbling on this thread. My first impression was that a lot of it sounded like things I used to hear on Coast to Coast AM, w-a-y- back when I could actually stay up that late. (for the uninitiated Coast to Coast AM was a late night radio talk show mostly dealing with conspiracy theories, aliens, etc., entertaining, but not much of and actual news source)
  18. Randomly found on ebay. Clicked it as I was curious about how a 9.6 could have corner dings visible in the thumb, then I saw the rip. I'll admit to being bad at grading, but.... Can only hope it was abuse after grading, though it looks fairly well centered in the slab.
  19. I had come across a Supergirl #5 regular and variant newstand a couple of months ago, posted an image to the modern newstand thread, re-posting the image here. That's three close together issues for Supergirl now, very strange.
  20. Recent find. Looking back through the thread this may be the second mention of this one with a sticker.
  21. Thank you very much for the reply KCOComics!!! This is why I need a second set of eyes. The spin wear seems fairly typical for the era, I've got similar on a few that were released in the last month. Here are some edge photos. The contrast between the black front cover and the white back cover is making it tough to get representative photos.
  22. I'll level with everyone that I've never submitted before. Recently came into a few issues that I need a second set of eyes on, this being the top of the list. I'll keep it to one a day at most. For now I'm planning on keeping this issue. I do have three CGC slabs (9.2, 9.4, 9.8), and the differences in the condition just on those three boggle my mind.
  23. Just curious if there was a way to identify the error version without sending to CGC. Honestly mostly just curious if my copy is one or not. I had asked Cpt Kirk a year or so back, he looked at his copies, side by side one of them was duller. Not really much of a tell, just curious if anyone had noticed anything more.
  24. Regular and Variant cover newsstand... Mind Blown.
