  1. Okay, except I'm pulling from audience reactions since the premiere last night and not cherry picking. This is the latest page from most recent All Audience reviews. I guess you found the haters section?
  2. Some random dude on YouTube who watched Eternals last night and needed to swing by his local Target store afterwards:
  3. From the ultimate and final source of all entertainment news, We Got This Covered: Early Marvel’s Eternals Fan Impressions Are Much More Positive Than Critic Reviews https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/early-marvels-eternals-fan-impressions-are-much-more-positive-than-critic-reviews/
  4. I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take it anymore.
  5. Audience reactions coming in on RT. As I said, I think audiences will appreciate Eternals more than the groupthink critics did.
  6. Okay, so cancel Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Bad Batch, Obi Wan Kenobi on Disney+? That ridiculous writer with a position of influence suggests abruptly ending something that brings a lot of joy to a lot of people's lives. But in a way, you're right. End the MCU and there's nothing left but the old days of a good comic book movie every five years or so.
  7. I hope you don't support this ridiculous article. Put an end to the movie franchise that's made our hobby the king of the pop culture mountain? Why not just end all comic books and Star Wars and Star Trek, too? How about we end candy while we're at it? Please end that writer's career before it's too late. Of course, I kind of wouldn't expect anything less from the New York Post. It's more tabloid than newspaper.
  8. Another prediction: All the RT chatter in the news gave Eternals more marketing and exposure than it would have had otherwise. This, the built-in MCU fanbase audience, and over a year of anticipation gives Eternals a $90+ million opening weekend in North America.
  9. Observation: At this point, the Eternals RT score is now critics (and Rotten Tomatoes) piling on. Critics can be guilty of groupthink, too. And that's what this is. Prediction: Audience reception and word of mouth will be much much better for Eternals, and the film will end up doing just fine.
  10. Of course, when I said spoilers I meant spoilers to Venom 2's actual story, which still nobody really cares about. We went to see Venom 2 to see Venom swing around and fight Carnage and didn't really care how it would end. Obviously the "no spoilers" marketing poster referred to the surprise credit scene.
  11. When you say fine print, it’s as if you felt ripped off you couldn’t get Black Widow for free on Disney+ on the premiere date. We were in a global deadly pandemic so Disney offered a watch-at-home premium option for a couple major theatrical movies like Black Widow or Jungle Cruise. Exceptional circumstances. That’s done now and it looks like the world is back to theater exclusive movies again.
  12. Disney must be taking a stand on the gay relationship in Eternals. Good for them.
  13. Agree. We can't let a website named after a putrefying vegetable (or fruit) have dominion over our lives.
  14. Ok, but if you don't show just the bad user reviews on a page and actually show a random complete RT page ROS audience scores, it generally reads like this one: The percentage of this page is about 75%. Then if you keep scrolling through the audience score pages, the high scores definitely outweigh the 1 and 2 star user reviews. Without looking at every audience score myself, an 86% isn't out of the question. Now, deliberate manipulation of this score isn't out of the question either. I personally thought ROS was fine. At least it finished the story that JJ Abrams had set up in Force Awakens. That's what I wanted to see, not the deconstructionist out-of-left field story we got in Last Jedi.
  15. Peter Rainer of the Christian Science Monitor is one of my favorite critics today. I don't always agree with him, but I like his style. He finally released his review of Eternals a few hours ago. He's not a faithful fan of the Marvel movies he notes, though admits some of them are good like Black Panther, Endgame, and Iron Man. He says Eternals is subpar to those movies and is sort of like a Side B to their Side A. Clever metaphor, Mr. Rainer. It's why I'm a fan. His biggest complaint about the story is that the film's emotional continuity keeps getting interrupted by the constant globe trotting of the main characters, and in the end, he wishes the film were better. He also notes he wasn't as big a fan of Nomadland as everyone else was. He gave Eternals 2.5 stars out of 5. https://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Movies/2021/1103/Nomadland-director-brings-her-vision-to-Marvel-s-Eternals
  16. I'm not sure critics were expecting Endgame or Infinity War. What I think they were expecting, and it's what I'm still kind of expecting, was something they'd never seen before. A comic book movie that might combine the poetic humanity we've seen in her movies with the bombast breadth and color of the MCU. Some critics say she nailed it. Some say she didn't. Some say whatever the case, they didn't care for the mix. I love her movies and I love those kinds of movies. I'm expecting to like it when I see it in IMAX this weekend, though I am tempering my expectations due to the mixed reviews.
  17. I noted Eternals' diversity was under attack from the trolls involved in the IMDb 1 star bomb, from the usual suspects on YouTube, and in social media. I never ever said it was under attack in the negative reviews from national media critics (again with the exception of the HollywoodToto guy). No double-speak here except in said baseless accusation above.
  18. I never said the critics on RT were being anti-diversity, with the exception of the Toto review. The rest of my above reply to Larryw7 is that the IMDb 1 star review bomb by people who had not seen the movie was indeed an attack against the movie's diversity, and that's why the Vice article he links is a bit confused.
  19. Who do you think is the lead? Also, I'm sure a Deviant or a Celestial or another Eternal could end an Eternal.
  20. I don't understand your question or maybe you misunderstood my statement there. I'm saying most of the critics giving negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes or in major media outlets HAVE NOT criticized the movie because of its diversity at all. They have criticized the movie over its story, pace, expectations, etc.
  21. And here's my opinion: 1989 Batman is the best Batman movie so far, Michael Keaton is the best Batman so far, and Jack Nicholson's Joker is the best Joker so far. I'm not denying Dark Knight is a fine film, btw. It's just when I was watching it I couldn't stop thinking, among other things, how much the movie looked and felt like Michael Mann's Heat.
  22. Well, if one likes the movie they like the movie. I can tell you what Eternals won't be, though: a 1 star movie. Speaking of Rise of Skywalker, the movie actually wasn't that bad in the context of being a popcorn space movie like the old Star Wars movies and that it also gets right what Last Jedi got wrong, mainly that it respects the character of Luke Skywalker (instead of turn him into a curmudgeon) and simply continues the cliffhanger-story trajectory set up in Force Awakens(as opposed to doing a complete tone-story 180 like Last Jedi). Those two things are the biggest faults of Last Jedi, not its lady characters as a lot of haters try to proclaim.
  23. Ok. Except I think the writer of this Vice article is a little confused about the situation. Eternals is getting mixed reviews from national media critics. Fine. Folks are not saying that these same critics giving Eternals negative reviews are against diversity. Most of the negative reviews, with a few exceptions, criticize the film's story, pace, whatever, not its diversity. What a lot of folks are saying, however, is that the IMDb 1 star review bomb by hundreds of users(not critics) who have not seen Eternals are indeed attacking the movie because of its diversity. So the Vice article, while right about some things, isn't really that on point.
