  1. I regularly get commissions done, and I have never been asked to pay everything in advance. In most cases, nothing in advance. In a few cases, half or 1/3rd.
  2. And something a little more interesting than a butt shot of a mddle aged man.
  3. It's just a shame there is no way for the penciller and inker to collaborate on sales so that someone can buy both pieces at once. I know it would improve my interest in them.
  4. From what I saw, some of it is still very good, even if the total claim is too high.
  5. No, but there are a couple pages over here. His fine art is very good if you appreciate that style. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2290200/30million-haul-abstract-art-forgotten-painter-run-cottage-sold-300-000.html
  6. I wouldn't buy a "monoprint" period. I consider it fundamentally untrustworthy.
  7. Not exactly. The artist is selling the company the right to use his artistry for a story (and maybe other things) and reprints. The artist, however, owns the original artwork and can make copies of it as well unless the agreement with the artist restricts them (which it probably does).
  8. Both shows involve the coming of age of a young woman and use the supernatural as a way to deal allegorically with the issues she faces. In Buffy's case, she did it from the "good side" and better in my view. In Sabrina's, it's the wrong side of the tracks, right down to the name on the train station (which is an old Hebrew word for where bad people go when they die, but is not always distinguished that way in English translations).
  9. It's set-up is different, but it still has that same feel (but not as good and definitely darker). I binge watched all the episodes.
  10. Strange TV show. Reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a way. How does Buffy art do?
  11. Agreed on the pricing. I won this Philip Tan commission recently for slightly less than $150, including taxes and shipping. It's perhaps the best exanple I have seen of the Phantom Stranger's God-like aspect as universal conscience or Freud's superego (which in comics are indistinguishable). Seems like he doesn't attract many competing bids.
  12. I like Comiclink a lot. I don't snipe; their auctions close when it's too late at night for me to bother. I find they have items which tend to go for a reasonable amount, and service has been good. I once missed an auction, but they were able to arrange my purchase of something from the buyer afterward for a relatively small extra premium.
  13. He also did great work which was not family related. I still remember one where a nurse came running out of the delivery room to the waiting room in a hospital shouting "It's a baby!". Makes you wonder what else they were delivering there.
  14. Back then, there was barely a market, so yes.
  15. Thanks, but not in my wheelhouse to buy.
  16. The average "Persian" rug has lost a lot of value since the 1980's. Comic art would have been a much better inverstiment
  17. It was pretty good. I went through it in about an hour. When you look at the originals, as compared to the reprints in those great paperbacks, you can better appreciate how good he was as an artist. I gather there is a museum somewhere in Long Island where his work is on regular display.
  18. If anyone is interested, the town of Westfield, NJ is having an Addamsfest this weekend (10/26-28), including a display of about 40 pieces of his original art. Just found out about it.
  19. Good general advice. But I don't sell what I buy, so it doesn't matter what I pay. I just assume it is an unrecoupable expense.
  20. I disagree on the subject of light. Natural light fades inks. I don't think it is nearly as deleterious on paint. Also, I consider my collection personal. I do have art on display, but very little of it is comic art. Just more general stuff.
