  1. Money is a serious impediment. Legally, fraud is hard to prove. You have to show they did it intentionally, not done by someone else, with the intent to deceive, not a mistake. But yes, the basic claim is, if proven, fraudulent.
  2. Here is an example of an outlier. I have a page like that. In the early 2000's, I was told, DC was planning a series to unite all the magic in the universe into a single thread. So, they commissioned a series called "Sentinals of Light" which never saw the Light of day what with the New 52 coming out instead. The person who pencilled the series was Chris Shenk, and he had a page for sale at a convention. I bought it on condition he would ink it and he did. I learned something about the character and DC publication, I didn't know. Now, his work is not particularly expensive, but this ended up very nicely done and in my opinion a bargain. Here is what it looks like: The guy in the hood is Jason Blood.
  3. I think a lot of people here use Itoya portfolio's you can get at an art supply store. Since I like to look at my stuff more often than just from the portfolio's, I will make large photocopies of some things and leave them around for casual looking. I also have some of those sleeves you can get at conventions and put a few in them which I usually keep behind the desk where I live so I can look at them in greater detail. That way, I get to rotate my stuff.
  4. You are correct; it is strange. It looks like it was done first and then the rest of Batman's body was drawin on top of it.
  5. Nothing wrong with that. If the artist happens to do one work you love, and you can buy it, who cares what anyone else thinks? Also, some artists aren't given the fan love they deservie. Ever hear of Jack Sparling? Some of his stuff was excellent. Also some of the great artists have off days, too. Anyone care to post lousy work by great artists?
  6. I use it, but it doesn't help if the text omits the subject matter I need and the poster doesn't include it. That's why I do both types of searches, plus ComicLink.
  7. I would not call him a new name but I really do like Guilllem March. Great cover work. The list of names here is really extensive. Ought to make people think if the artwork now, on balance, is better than the "old masters". I think that may be the case.
  8. I don't know if they are giclee's., but Neil Adams sells a lot of his copies of original work at shows.
  9. If it's for truly personal use, I thnk you can. As a practical matter, I can't imagine someone would come after you. Kinko's is probably concerned it would be used otherwise.
  10. I did a cheaper version. I just printed some images on the office copier on ledger paper and leave them around to casually look at. I have pet birds which will chew or dump on anything.I go to the originals, safely tucket away, when I want to really look at them. The birds know when not to bother me.
  11. I would have to agree. They don't separate the art from the other stuff they sell which is comic related and I have to wade through too much irrelevant listing information.
  12. If I really, really want a piece then it doesn't matter because I will put in a bid which is sufficiently higher than market price (within my budget of course) that it will win. I like a drop dead time because I like to know the most something will cost me. If you were worried about a sniping bid, it is not a worry if you bid high enough. It will also leave the sniper feeling stupid I expect. When I get buyer's remorse, it is usually due to buying something I didn't really want at that price. Se la vey.
  13. I can only think of one instance where an artist's politics mattered to me and it was an actress who I felt behaved anti-American. That's not something I really regard as politics in the same sense. Why should the politics matter? They don't ask my views if I want to buy their stuff. Why should I be concerned about the views of the seller?
  14. I doubt you will do as well on ebay with the low end items as on Comic Link if only because it's hard to shop on ebay without specifics in mind. Why not list them here first and give other serious collectors a shot?
  15. Wow. Sometimes,it really does not pay to get out of bed in the morning. What next? Protests against over-sized breasts in comics?
  16. I thought it added an important piece to Bat-lore. We now know that Bruce Wayne was circumcised.
  17. Well, the logic isn't so hot. Ber-tal can fly so he doesn't need superstrength to lift the box.
  18. I took a second, and third look. Quite a few are suspicious. Then I noticed they were from St. Petersberg, Russia—red flag. Those cannot be Lichtenstein’s works, and the Miro’s are pretty shaky (among others). Herve and Schultz are too easy to fake...and the Shuster piece looks like a recreation of another Schuster image or images I think I have seen.
  19. What do you think is fake? This one certainly has Boring's style (although, I don't know why someone would want it):
  20. But, they would have records of Shazam, which presumably had the same color for Captain Marvel.
  21. I don't think what you are trying to do will work due to the color variations you will encounter from age. I copied and pasted the Whiz 2 posted above into Photoshop and used the eyedropper tool to check the RGB mix. Depending on where you check, the percentages vary. Here are 3, but there are a lot of others along these lines. Ex. 1. R=197; G=34; B=35 Ex. 2 R=185; G=25; B=27 Ex. 3 R=205; G=35; B=36 (this seemed the brightest one). When I tested what you posted, your R value was notably higher. So, one of them was R=238; G=48; B=14. You will notice how much brighter yours is than the actual. If you are serious about a match, maybe DC can tell you what was used. Wouldn't they have records on this? By the way, as a way to garner publicity, it's a nice effort.
  22. I'm okay with cheap publicity stunts. You do realize that virtually every superheroine costume is designed to appeal to the testosterone in teenage males (or at least the teenager in all men)? If they wore athletic bra's, as they should, their front images would probably drop by at least 2 inches and a cup size.
