  1. Damn, Ryan, it takes a lot to satisfy your expectations! I wouldn't normally expect a list of prices prefaced by "okay, but not great" to then have a bunch described as "new GPA high". I think a #1 8.5 with LT pages for $6350 is huge. It means people will pay up for ANY copy that's in reasonably high grade. I have a slightly different take on the #11, which is that its price is holding up remarkably well considering all of the new supply of HG copies that have come on the market, particularly given that 9.4 is no longer highest in census. i agree about the #11- that book is too common in HG to hold that level. the #12 as well- that was a 3 pk book
  2. unless it was the same book, the #14 can be explained by its hideousness
  3. For what it's worth, I don't think Keller was a meathead at all. Now that I've had a chance to go through the catalog and see which books are his, I must profess my admiration for his selectivity and tastes. I can see quite a few books where unbeknownst to me we were competing with each other. And I am of course grateful for his purchases of more than a few of my books. the meathead i was referring to was me.
  4. He certainly did! Seeing his collection and the Mound City come up in short order makes me wonder how many other HG DC collections are lurking in the shadows. Keller's collection was not OO. true. any meathead w/ more $ than brains can put together a HG DC collection; but how many undiscovered Mound-like collections are out there? that's an intriguing question.
  5. sold or sent to the factory for another round of squeezing? Sold. They have already been squeezed as far as they can go based on what I saw from them in San Diego. like the cap city #15 that went from 9.0 to 9.4. abracadabra
  6. sold or sent to the factory for another round of squeezing?
  7. is that the buyer? looks like he may be logged onto Pedigree
  8. It's better to be thought a fool than to open your wallet and remove all doubt. i don't know if this is twain or doc watson but it's a classic

  10. So does this mean prices are still climbing? Or have they stayed somewhat the same over the last month or two? Prices are definitely holding up very well. Finding a 3.0 for less than $1000 is a thing of the past. Prices are still climbing steadily. There is an insatiable demand for this book. SC22 is like an AF15 for DC. Price them right...they will go...very liquid. (thumbs u where's the quality comix 3.5 that sold for $1001 (30% below the last sale) or do you only report upticks?
  11. If you can see up everybody's nose in a Spidey comic book (or really, any comic book), then there is a 97.5% chance that it was drawn by Gil Kane. hater
  12. When spunkydo puts his collection up for sale? - which auction house has not tried to contact him recently? They never tried to contact me when I had a lot of the books. when you owned them GL was just another DC third stringer- now he's the second coming
  13. i was wondering if spunky stooped to 9.2 and picked up the #1, #3 and #4 from Mound City
  14. When spunkydo puts his collection up for sale? - which auction house has not tried to contact him recently?
  15. the price for the #9 was in line w/ the last sale and it wasn't a great 9.4 (from my vantage point), so that price wasn't suprising. i overlooked the #18, i would have been a couple of clicks higher than the hammer on that book. the #13 clearly looked like a steal, the #14, #16 and #28 were surprisingly strong. as mentioned, the #6 was pretty hefty for what certainly looked like an overgraded book.
  16. Whoever landed the 9.4 copy of GL #1 for $18K is laughing even more. i'm not laughing as loudly but i paid less than 1/4 the hammer for my 9.2
  17. hilarious as always. i especially liked Dale's childish scrawl- nice touch
  18. Not trying to be cool, but I kind of saw it coming too. When Layman said he saw the series going for about 50 issues, I knew we were way to far into the series to not have been introduced to Tony's nemisis already. you're posting on a comic book message board. i don't think you have anything to worry about. i am glad to see that given the 147 page thread, there are 6 actual readers of the series here.
  19. and the poor seller of the 9.4 netted a whopping $90, less than 1/2 guide
  20. Kudos to VCC purchasers: Quick payment, hassle free JiveTurkeyMoFo BatCollector- only a handful of posts, but no worries here pink181 pirate ernster dawgwindu kingofrulers fastballspecial tatterdemalion
  21. SPOILER WARNING did not see the twist coming. kudos to a very strong first arc.
