  1. of course, somehow i managed to pay more than i wanted to for the #13.

Wow, wouldn't have picked you to be the winner after seeing the price! :applause:

I got one of the cut-rate books, the #41.

won a book the night before for way less than i was willing to pay- threw the "savings" at the #13. plus i've got a 9.2 that i bought well that i'll sell.

  2. Wow, How'd you guys let this thread slip to page 2?!

I just finished a 3-week+ poker tournament at the Wynn, dealing 6 days a week instead of my usual 4(plus overtime). What's your excuses?

As for the Heritage & C'Link auctions, extremes on both ends...bargains & brain blowers! I just finished my bidding & fared much better on the Link. Will have specifics once I tally it all up. All I'll say for now is, whoever got the #64 9.6 White...you're welcome. I missed that one as I went down the list of potentials. I saved you at least $100!

So, spook/Tim, what're your general conclusions about these latest results. Off the top of my head, the 9.8s and any early top census JLAs got real sick, while most of the others dropped off. Concur?

    Rick

there were just waaaaaaay too many JLA's in this auction for prices to hold firm. of course, somehow i managed to pay more than i wanted to for the #13.

  3. Spoilers ahead

I am going to have to disagree, I thought it was a ton of fun. I like powerplex. The idea that he has powers that he can't control without help from those discs. I think kman did a great job introducing a new villain, and the tragedy that his life has become. The fact that he kills his own family is pretty brutal. A really fun issue IMHO

the immolation of an innocent child is "fun?" :screwy:. remind me never to invite you to my house. kirkman wasn't going for fun and he says as much in the letters column.

  4. Im dying to see whats up with powerplex, I feel that its going to be a really fun issue. Then 60.... I have no idea how im going to manage the time between issues, and the following Conquest arc is going to be so damn good, I have a really good feeling. Its a good time to be a Invincible fan for sure.

    "fun issue" it wasn't.

  5. Im sure that Heritage promoted the collection to CGC as a Pedigree, and to the Toths that they would give it a strenuous but not guaranteed effort to do so. CGC has been very stingy about Pedigree status for years, so this collection missing out just puts it on that list of near misses. Still great company to be in.

This would be true if CGC hadn`t just given pedigree status to the Rocky Common Mountain collection. I didn`t comment when the Toth collection was first brought to market by CGC, because in fact they had been pretty tough about giving pedigree status over the last few years. But when they recognized a pedigree that as far as I can tell represented lots of ultra-HG books from an era lousy with ultra-HG books, I was puzzled and irritated.

I think both collections are borderline Pedigree quality. The Toth collection is DC only with a lot of the earlier stuff, although it may be highest graded, is still below 9.0. There are some phenomenal runs in ultra high grade though. The RMs are light on the keys in terms of grade but ULTRA high grade from the mid 60s on. My original point was that the Toth collection is not a SLAM DUNK Pedigree, which is what a lot of the posters were saying. I can see it getting the Pedigree designation but I'm not surprised that it didn't either. To say that it is undoubtedly a Pedigree without hesitation is just over-exhuberance IMO. This of course comes from someone who does not collect SA DC and it seems that all the proponents of the Toth collection being Pedigreed are the DC collectors on the board. hm

maybe that's due to: a)the DC collectors realizing how tough these books are to find in HG and b)marvel collectors not giving a rat's

  6. Ok, just want to make sure I understand.

I know you all want as much info as possible. But you want me to list 30K+ comics on this board. I don’t really thinks that’s realistic. (:

I’ll start w/ what we’ve consigned already. I’ll try to be informative as possible. But even this is a long list.

I’ve got some of it ready to go and can start posting it soon. (thumbs u

i'd be happy to see a list of books thru '68. the '73 and beyond would be of secondary interest.

  7.

Perhaps in years to come pressing will become a standard procedure for any book thought to benefit and the "no longer original" attitude towards pressed books will be gone.

I agree, by 2007 nearly everyone will look to improve their books by having them pressed!!

    :signfunny:

  8.

I can't read the cert. # or I'd be able to tell you if is the Toth copy. I have most of them memorized. lol

If it is the Toth copy it got from Dallas to Vancouver quick. lol

only thing to come out of vancouver that wasn't a scam is greggy.

  9. Here's an inside page of Stan Lee welcoming everyone to the convention. Boy, did he look a lot younger then (almost 34 years ago). :o

He was either 52 or 53 in "75" . He does look younger, but looks more like an old time porn star. hm I wonder what REALLY went on in Stan's Bullpen!

Anybody else hear Stan's voice in your head when you read something by him...or is it just me :insane:

his right hand is not completely shown but i'm sure it's signing some book he either wrote, drew or read

    :gossip: hes left handed

Grinder should know. He is just out of the picture, at age 5, waiting for a signature and babbling about some Signature Series in the future. :kidaround:

he's left handed now. in '75, before he wore it down to the nub from signing he was right handed
