  1. Here's an inside page of Stan Lee welcoming everyone to the convention. Boy, did he look a lot younger then (almost 34 years ago). :o

    MightyMarvelComicConventionGreeting.jpg

He was either 52 or 53 in "75" . He does look younger, but looks more like an old time porn star. hm I wonder what REALLY went on in Stan's Bullpen!

Anybody else hear Stan's voice in your head when you read something by him...or is it just me :insane:

his right hand is not completely shown but i'm sure it's signing some book he either wrote, drew or read

  2. :bump:

I generally don't follow the thread so I hope no one's mentioned it before.

All WD fans should try out this book:

Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler

Go get it at your local library and enjoy. It's very similar in tone to WD. No, it's not a Zombie story but might as well be. I'm 2/3rd in and I can't stop making comparisons.

Here's the final line of the back cover summary to further whet your interest:

"What little civilization remains revolves around Joey Armageddon's Sassy A-Go-Go strip clubs, where the beer is cold, the lap dances are hot, and the bouncers are armed with M16s."

i've read every book he's written (except for this one)

  3. For HG JLA completists, I just noticed that there's a 9.2 copy of #24 in the weekly Heritage auction. This is the B&B 60 of JLAs ( :P ), traditionally very tough to find in HG, with only 2 9.2 copies at the top of the "regular" census and 1 freak PC copy way above by itself.

stick to noticing 9.4's and leave the dregs for us little guys.

    A 9.2 #24 is like a 9.4 of any other book.

someone got a steal the last time this book appeared based on the price this go round. i was the unfortunate underbidder. i believe spookley bought it.

  4. Hello there

    I collect JLA # 22's;

    I've posted a few examples below;

I was wondering what a nice (9.6) copy of the comic might cost, whether it would be easy to obtain & likely source(s).

    Many thanks.

given that there's only one 9.6 on the census, i would say 'no, it isn't going to be easy to obtain." And given that a 9.2 sold for $1400+ this year, i think you're looking at something like $6,000 for the 9.6. given the scarcity, that is probably on the low side.

  5. So someone buys two comics from Ritter:

    Batman #259 CGC 9.8 for $1,100.00

    DC-22 Flash CGC 9.8 for $700.00

Then this person lists them on Comiclink for $3,033.00 and $1,900.00 respectively.

Is this person on crack (shrug)

this seems to be happening more and more frequently. does the seller hope someone will be ignorant enough to throw out the min bid (50% of list) and catch a sucker that way?

Plus, WTF is with the non-even $3,033 price? (shrug)

1/2 the sign of the beast for the mathematically challenged (shrug)

  7. Someone suggested this board needed livening up, so here goes... (BTW, I only stopped posting my collection on the board because it became apparent to me that the thread wasn't being frequented enough.) :gossip:

My Silver Age Green Lantern collection is one of my life's passions and I am happy to share it with anyone who is interested, so let other people know that I will continue to post my books if people become engaged.

The first of two recent acquisitions for me is one that is hard to find in high grade and highly-desired by both Green Lantern and Flash collectors. I had a copy in 9.0 and knew that the solo 9.4 was in a collecting friend's permanent collection, so I was truly fortunate to add Green Lantern v2 #20 9.6 White from a late spring Heritage Live auction. IMHO, this outstanding Gil Kane cover with both GL and Flash is the first that faithfully represents both of the iconic DC superheroes (better than both Green Lantern #13 [Kane] and Flash #131 [infantino]). The green hues on the cover also make this one of the most recognizable of all of the early Silver Age GL books. I will post the second recent acquisition tomorrow (hint: it's got the first appearance of a vicious intergalactic fish. lol.) Again, if there is enough interest, I will continue where I left off about six months ago with GL #7 9.6 and fill in #8 through #19. Enjoy!!! :cloud9:

    Green Lantern v2 #20 9.6 W (Flash crossover)

Gorgeous copy. I wish I could still contribute to this thread, but someone bought all of my GLs, except for one. ;)

and that one remaining is a real stinker that should be kicked to the curb. i'll PM the address on the curb in front of my house.

  8. Outlaw Kid #10 looks below your usual standards (grading anyways) :insane:
Not my fault CGC graded that a 9.0. Tough grading my azz.

    shut UP!!!! :whatthe:

    THAT was a slabbed 9.0???

    ^^

I have no comeback for that

The Marvel Tales was a CGC 9.4 and everything else were CGC 9.0s.

    x-mas came very early.

  9. Just noticed that Pedigree comics has in their auction preview a JLA #7 CGC 9.4 universal (see below)....Any ideas on what this book might be bid up to? What is its guide value?...Or do any of you JLA collectors have a 9.2 or 9.4 and mind sharing what you paid?

Just trying to get a feel to see if I can even bid in the ball park

    Thanks!!!

    :takeit:

a 9.2 w/ white pages and much better wrap just sold on WWcomics for $1250

isn't this the same book that "sold" in may clink auction for $2800?

  11. Then you have the #41 9.6 that under-sells for $450! A book that is truly a "key" but apparently got looked over.

41 has to be the most common JLA in 9.6, so it`s time it started selling for a more realistic price. There must have been a dozen (sometimes the same book) on sale in the past year. Plus this one was a bit miswrapped.

yea, that book is common as dirt. everyone's got 9.4's for sale.
