i pizz on 9.4's. i told them i wanted the world's only 9.2.
Of course, technically yours is the 2nd 9.2. I had the first 9.2, which became a 9.4 after Josh bought it on Heritage.

oy papi!! i guess i'll have to be content w/ my lowly 9.2 purchased at less than 1/10th the price.
Wow! That is a huge price, particularly considering the fugly miswrap on that copy.
Beautiful #12!!
I think this is a nicer copy.
too lazy to check the census- how rare is this book in 9.4? know it was in a DC 3 pak- an early one mind you but those books are typically easier to find in grade. well, maybe not so much- only two of them and nothing higher. i guess that quasi explains the price.

Wow!!! I'm just blown away looking at all the 9.2, 9.4, 9.6 early silver GL's. My favorite DC hero other than Supey. Course I love 'em all. arexcrooke's 9.4 GL59 rocks and then Big Daddy put his 9.4 up. Whoa!!
arexcroooke and , spunkydo way to go!!! I'm totally jealous of paperheart's 9.6 GL 40. Thought I had a decent CGC'd 8.5.
I have all the GL's from Showcase 22 up to the end of the 2nd series. Purchased the 90 up right off the shelves personally. My early issues are a mixed bag. There are VG+ and there are 9.2 and 9.4's. Really tough for me to find some cool stuff that you guys haven't already posted. Here's a few of mine. The kicker is, I only paid $1 each for these in 1982 from the original owner. What a find. I reduced my scans somewhat so I do not eat up my ISP space. Sorry.
GL70 has razor sharp corners but some minor spine crinklies. May grade 9.0 Looks NM in person
GL73 Perhaps my fave of this part of the run. Razor sharp corners.Spines perfect. UNfortunatley the cut is slightly off. 9.4?
GL74 Darn upper right corner ding. No spine issues. 9.2?
GL75 Just a bit less than the rest. 9.0
GL87 awesome white cover corners are nice but slightly turned down on this Giant Size issue. Tough call. Possibly 9.2 but perhaps just 9.0.
And the last of the original run GL89 Decent 9.0
I may post some others later. Thanks for sharing the images. GL RULES!!!

nice but you skipped over the book there's a bit of a mania for here- i think it's the #76.

kudos to hellblazer for a slab that arrived quickly and was packed to survive the onslaught it endured.

Tim,
Are you keeping track of all Matt's books that interest you...I mean, after they're sold? Otherwise, what's the point in worrying; when the new owners turn around & re-sell "Matt's" books, how is one to know that they were once "Matt's" books? Serial #'s?
Oh, and if I hadn't just picked up the #32 9.4 recently, this one would have easily topped $800.
Rick
i've had this same discussion w/ myself recently after deciding a year ago not to bid on his auctions (not that you asked)

kudos to nearmint for immediate pay on some slabinskis.

Up in the grading thread, but deserving of posting here. A couple out of my run.
does it really not say #1 anywhere? never noticed that before.

kudos to rich henn for taking a slabinski off my hands.

please explain the utter lunacy in the clink bidding. thanks
I have no idea Mike
Hopefully this is not a trend, otherwise I will never finish my JLA run
Over the last 3 months, I've picked up a couple JLA's in the 60's in CGC 9.6
for $250-275---I thought I could pick some more up on the Clink auction for around $250-350----winning bids were in the $700's
yes, those prices were mindboggling- it's not like these books don't come up in grade. who pays 2-3x gpa?? i suspect it's talk of the movie but maybe it's something else.
The trend seems to be continuing. The 9.6 JLA 87 just sold on Heritage for $310, including the BP, which is almost 8X Guide. I don't follow the market for BA JLAs, but this seems like it must be a pretty strong price.
if you consider "strong" 2.5x what the last one sold for in mid 06 or 4.5x what a 9.4 sold for in mid 07, then yes, "strong" is one word you could use. "nuts" is another.

I just picked up a nice group of earlier SA Flash for below guide in grade (currently in the mail to me now):
#111 VF
#119 VF/NM
#128 NM-
#135 NM-/NM
#137 VF/NM
#139 VF/NM (hopefully as nice as yours)
#143 NM
These will be the first SA Flash I have ever owned. I have my as the only one I saw a scan of prior to buying is the #137, but I have bought from the seller before and been happy with the results.
Well, the first few books have arrived and I am wondering disappointed with the grade on a couple. I have them posted in the "Spare a Grade Thread" if anyone is willing to view them and give me their input. The #111 and #119 will be on the way back to the seller for a refund unfortunately .
Please Grade My Flash #128,135, 139, 143
Cheers,
Ryan
Here are the results for the three universal books (the #139 came back as an 8.5 apparent with color touch):
i was one tick low on each of them- congrats
